Texas A&M 2012 Recruitment

I checked to see if a thread had been started and couldn't find one so here goes.

Today is the 2nd day of round one.

970 registered.

Good Luck to the Aggie pnms

SWTXBelle 08-21-2012 04:07 PM

I am so excited! Gamma Phi has the cutest skit - I saw it on Saturday.

I have 22 pnms for whom I have written recs going through - good luck!

Delta-adpi 08-21-2012 04:46 PM

OMG, that is even bigger than my alum friends in the Austin area thought! Good luck to all the Aggie chapters as they welcome their new members this week. At least the weather isn't brutal this year.

aggieadpi_01 08-21-2012 06:09 PM

I saw ADPi's skit on Saturday, and they did an awesome job. I wish all of my ADPi sisters, and all Aggie chapters, good luck during recruitment. Gig 'Em Aggie Greeks!!

aggieAXO 08-21-2012 06:37 PM

Good luck to all the PNMs and Gig 'Em:)

The pnm's made their first preferences today, and I'm happy to report that my daughter said it took about 45 minutes to complete the process. I don't know if anyone remembers or not, but last year, lots of girls reported having to wait in line for 2 to 2.5 hours to make their preferences. Way to go A&M! Tomorrow is the first day of cuts. (fingers crossed)

She must have been closer to the front of the line. One of my friends said her daughter stood in line for 2 hours last night.

My D said it was about an hour and 15 minutes for her..

And at convocation Sunday Greek Life director told us number of girls going thru was 909... either way lots of girls and great news for Aggie Greek life.

DeltaBetaBaby 08-22-2012 07:38 PM

Hmmm...you'd think they'd have a Facebook app for this by now.

Just interested 08-22-2012 08:14 PM

It may have been 909 who showed up but it is a good number for them. I just hope it's up a bit from last year.

collegemom1 08-22-2012 08:49 PM

My daughter was toward the front of line and was only in line a half hour or less. That isn't bad at all. I imagine tonight with the later day the girls will be pretty tired when they finish the process.

My fingers are also crossed waiting to hear from my daughter.

could be.. I think I heard the number was up 100 from last year, not sure if that is correct or not.

The waiting to hear is the hardest part...

Are any mom's planning on going to bid day? I was thinking about going until I found out that parents wouldn't be able to see the girls open their bids. :(

laylaorg 08-22-2012 11:11 PM

My sister is rushing this year and she waited about 2 hrs.

aggieAXO 08-23-2012 04:33 AM

Does everyone go at the same time now? I think we did it by alphabetical order (if I remember correctly:))-my last name starts with a B so I got to get up really early (yeah!!)and go make the cuts/see who invited me back. My roommate's last name started with an S so she got to sleep in some. It was very quick but we only had about 600 rushing.

collegemom1 08-23-2012 08:45 AM

I am not going to bid day because we have to be out of town. :(

Yes, they all pref right after the parties conclude. No alpa assigned time. In my opinion, that process is working fabulously! It all seems super organized and well run.

I agree, the process seems very well thought out! Yesterday, my daughter said that many girls had full or almost full party schedules. I love it that the houses didn't have to make severe cuts after Open House round!

From what my D says it is very well organized..

How are bids going to be distributed tomorrow? Do any of you know of a good florist or sorority store in the area that will deliver a basket of sorority goodies? I want to do something since I can't be there.

aggieAXO 08-24-2012 12:29 PM

Try the Greek Boutique -they should have all kinds of goodies!

collegemom1 08-24-2012 12:49 PM

Thank you! Greek Boutique said as soon as I find out what house I will be able to order online and they deliver it on Saturday night. That will work perfectly. :)

aggieAXO 08-24-2012 12:59 PM

You are welcome:). Also, James Avery has some cute sorority jewelry (though I think they stopped making the lyre I really like:().

Down Texas Ave. where Bed Bath and Beyond, Charming Charlies, Jason's Deli and Coldstone Creamery is in that shopping center - that's where James Avery is.

The Greek Boutique is located down Harvey Road in a shopping center across the road from The Tap, Traditions Bookstore and Subway.

Is it typical for parents to go to bid day at A&M?

travelgirl 08-25-2012 03:39 PM

My husband and I decided to stay home. It's been a stressful week. (a lot more competitive than we thought it would be). But here we are, on the other side, happy bid day everyone!

collegemom1 08-25-2012 04:49 PM

I agree that I am relieved for D that the week is wrapping up. It sounds like parents might have a harder time finding their daughter with bids being distributed at the Zone and then the girls bused to the houses. Who knows?

I would love to hear where the other girls end up. Happy Bid Day!

SWTXBelle 08-25-2012 06:20 PM

If you have access to the bid list and can share YOU WILL BE MY BEST FRIEND FOREVER.

No joke... I'm stalking Facebook as I had a large rec posse for A&M this year!

(OT: Saw you were also looking for TCU... I don't have a list, but I do have the ability to see if specific ladies are GPB new members....)

SWTXBelle 08-25-2012 08:09 PM

I suspect all the new members are off celebrating, so we are t.o.l. in terms of facebook stalking.

ANYONE KNOW QUOTA?

TERRIFIC news! Congratulations!

travelgirl 08-25-2012 09:17 PM

Thank you! They LOVE their new house!

SWTXBelle 08-25-2012 09:23 PM

QUOTA - 37 - freshmen
- 18 - upperclassmen

Gamma Phi Beta - quota + 1!

collegemom1 08-25-2012 09:26 PM

My daughter is a now a new member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is ecstatic! I'm not sure about quota number and don't have a bid list.

collegemom1 08-25-2012 09:29 PM

Then I think Kappa was quota plus 2. I think D said 57 in her pledge class.

Agmom15 08-25-2012 09:33 PM

I have a Tri Delt! She's very excited!

SWTXBelle 08-25-2012 09:36 PM

I wonder where the triplets ended up going . . .

aggieAXO 08-26-2012 08:31 AM

Congrats to everyone and their new houses!!
