I think she and Betty White are the last of the two original female comedians that I remember from my childhood. So sad, but she did live a fulfilling life.

Carol Burnett was recently on Glee as Sue Sylvester's mom.

The Smithsonian has a ginormous card catalog with her one-liner jokes in it...she donated them. I can't remember how many, but it's in the thousands.

Any GCers of a certain age remember her short-lived sitcom, The Pruitts of Southampton? Best theme song ever!

I remember seeing her and Bob Hope perform at the Ohio State fair when I was a little kid. RIP.

When I was a collegiate, there was a rumor that Phyllis Diller was an AOII. I have no idea where that came from, but I thought it for years, so even though she was before my time, I was so sad to see this news. RIP, Phyllis. You were a game changer.

Considering how Phyllis looked, I'd guess some 'comical' fraternity men may have thought the AOII's on their campus resembled Phyllis and began the un-funny rumor. :(

Nah, it was passed down from sister to sister. So I don't know where it started.
