$$$$$
Is anyone holding onto something because you think it's going to be worth $$$$$ in the future? Ok. Don't laugh, but I'll share my "treasures".:o
a Strawberry Shortcake tin lunchbox from second or third grade (unfortunately, I lost the thermos):( two McDonald's Happy Meal boxes (before they started using just the bags) plus the toys that came with them:p The very first issue of "O, the Oprah Magazine" (y'all know I love Oprah) IMHO, perfect condition.:D I regret giving away my Cabbage Patch dolls and my Atari. I had a lot of games, too. |
Autographed Alonzo Mourning card. I had the biggest crush on him in grammar school until I found out he was married. lol
|
LMAO!
My mother is always "saving stuh". She still has many of my dolls and my sister's dolls (60's and 70'). I still have my Cabbage Patches.
She has our "tin" lunch boxes and other stuff. I've found myself buying things that will probably be worth $$$$ LONG after I"m gone. As an example, I bought both of my nieces the Barbie Millennium Doll. They have kept them in the box (they have not opened them). Hopefully, it will be worth $$$ when they are grown and have kids. :p (I should have bought one for myself, now that I'm thinking about it!) NOTE: Items in their original packaging are worth MORE $$$. ;) |
A 1932 edition of 'Life' Magazine.

Okay, I am always holding on to stuff ..... it seems as soon as I throw something away, I find another use for it... Athough I am getting better, and I find myself throwing away stuff more frequently now that I have my own place...that junk adds up! :D I have been able to hold on to....My atari game, which is still in working condition...w/ the Pac-Man and Ms.Pac-Man games....and one of the very first Easy Bake Ovens. It still works, but over time, I have lost one of the pans and that little orange stick thing that you use to push the pan from one end to the other. Oh well, i hope they become collector's items someday, so I can get some loot!! :D

I kept all the newspapers and mags from the Sept. 11 tragedy. I wasn't really thinking about the $$$$, I just wanted to hold on to that so my brat can have that piece of history when she grows up.
|
Pepsi Cans before they changed the design about 6 years ago.
I still have my Cabbage Patch Doll. |
Ditto on saving the Sept.11 stuff...
I also have stored away all of the newspaper articles on famous people's deaths : JFK Jr., Princess Di, Dr. Seuss (yeah, I said Dr. Seuss!) Really old coins Baseball cards old records (I have quite a few, including a really old Beatles record) |
I have 3 Sports Illustrated magazines with 1) The Seoul Summer Olympics, 2) Bobby Hull (hockey player) and the US Olympic hockey team, and 3) Muhammad Ali on the covers. I think (hope) they'll all have some value sooner or later.
I keep saying that I am going to buy the full set of the new quarters with the state on the back, but I am beginning to doubt the long term value of that set. (can you say overkill???) |
Most of the stuff that I save is only valuable to me. But, I do still have my Cabbage Patch dolls and a full wardrobe for them. And, the record of "Self Destruction," the all-star rap song abainst black on black violence. Other than that, I don't think that anyone would want the stuff that I have.
I held on to old Right On! and Word Up! magazines. But, I don't think those will be collectors' item. |
i keep alot of stuff for sentimental reasons, but the only thing that may be worth something in the future are:
*the OG nintendo, powerpad and a bunch of games (all in perfect condition and the door is still on the system!) * talking baseball gards (toy back in the 80's i think. they each have a disk on them and come with a player) |
I have money from Iraq that has Saddam Huesian's (sp) picture on it. My brother brought it back from when he went to the Gulf War. I also have a coke can with Arabic writing on it.
I kept this stuff more as a reminder of what my brother went through, rather than for the money. ;) |
It's not yet my stuff, but we have a ton of classical and jazz LPs from the 1940s to the 1970s at our family home. One of those LPs already is worth about $500 on the open market.

Fraggles
Hey y'all. Does anyone remember Fraggle Rock? It was my favorite show when I was little. Anyways, I have 3 plush fraggle dolls: Uncle Traveling Matt, Red, and Mokie. I also have the lunchbox, a ligther, books, and a bunch of stuff I'm toooooo big for. I got them off ebay a long time ago cuz I thought they might be worth some money one day. I was gonna put them back up for bid on Ebay but should I wait? I'm not sure if they'll be worth something one day.
