Recruitment Outfits [IMG Heavy]
Hello Ladies! I will be rushing this August and I am very excited! I want to make a great impression on all the houses and I know looking my best is the first step. I have outfits planned out for 3 of the 4 days. Please give any feedback or advice that you have; I would really appreciate the help! :) Thanks!

I'm a PNM myself and I don't know anything about your school but I love all of the outfits you've choosen! So cute!
|
Cute! I have the polish from the 2nd outfit. Love it! The earrings on the pref outfit might be a bit large.

I wouldn't wear the Sperrys with no socks. They're very fashionable, but I'd be really paranoid about them starting to stink because I have sweaty, sweaty feet. Maybe cute sandals instead? |

I love your pref outfit. Very smart and classy!
|
LOVE the pref dress. where/who is it?
|
I have a question about pref. I'm wearing an all black dress (with a black skinny belt) and a silver bracelet and earrings. I'm debating about wearing dark purple heels or nude ones?
|
If you're wearing all black, you could wear almost any color shoe. If you have a pair of heels you love, wear them.
|
That sounds really cute! I'd personally wear nude heals because they visually lengthen your legs and they are super trendy right now. But remember, I'm only a PNM too : )

I'm giving off lady curmudgeon at the moment, and I'm not a fan of your philanthropy day shoes. I don't believe in Top-siders that come in any color but brown, and aren't worn while sailing. At least they aren't Toms, or five fingers, or Crocs.
They are also really neutral colored, and since your shirt is white and you're wearing light khaki shorts the earrings and nail polish may not be enough color to prevent you from blending in with the wall or furniture. I'm thinking some kind of loafer/moccasin women's shoe that is still practical and comfortable, but is in a lovely color. You did it right with the printed dress by pairing it with a neutral shoe, so do the opposite for philanthropy. Also if the shirt is white, wear a bra that's close to your skin tone, beige or nude for example. It isn't as obvious as a white bra. You could also keep the neutral shoe if the weather is ridiculous and wear something light on top, or even a scarf if you can pull it off. |

http://www.lulus.com/images/large/sh...dkbeigepat.jpg Top or bottom pair? I feel like the top pair is definitely more classy looking but sometimes I feel like pointed toes are a little much. |
:D Your preference dress & accessories are black and gold, a combination near and dear to my heart. :p

^^I agree. They were huge in TX when my dd was in camp and they are in where I live now. I think all of the outfits are perfect for my neck of the woods:)
|
Both of those pairs of pref shoes make my feet hurt just looking at them. I'm so glad I'm an old lady and have opted for comfort over fashion, to an extent...lol.
I saw an adorable pair of Sperry's that were tan with kind of colorful, almost seashell look parts that one of hypo's friends had. They were adorable. I like the look :) Better than flip flops for sure. |
The OP and my daughter could be twins. If that dress isn't exactly the same one she just bought, it's as close as can be. And, her Sperrys are really close, too. And, she loves Lilly. I think all the outfits are classic.
What about a French manicure for preference? I'm not a fan of the tan nail polish, or green, but I may be out of the loop on that. Frankly, I'd just do a French manicure for the whole thing instead of changing polish. You'll probably see the members being more conservative with polish. |

To be clear, though, we are nit-picking every last thing because we are old ladies who wish we could do it all over again. You shouldn't worry about every chapter member looking at your outfit and picking it apart like we are. I just want to keep this in perspective. It looks like you've picked lovely outfits, and you should be comfortable in them and wear them with confidence, not worry about whether your toenails are the wrong color.

I need two more dresses for rush. Thanks! PS. I'm 5'3 and 100 lbs, if that matters. |

In my experience Sperrys are very popular on many campuses. I live the metallic ones and wish those had been around back in my day.
|
All of your outfits are adorable and would be great at UT...which is probably similiar to UGA... Most of the girls wore Sperry's my daughter's year (2010) instead of tennis shoes. Im guessing that the t-shirt could be any color and that you just used white as an example...at least that is how it is at UT..they dont "unvail" the t-shirt color until opening convocation when they are passed out.
I love the Lilly dress and Jack Rogers..very cute..and your pref dress is very classy! As far as the dresses that you asked about today..I love the second one (orange with bow). It is adorable! |

Maybe if you switched the Sperry's out with sandals, like people do with pumps it would be okay. |

The double blue chevron-like dress could be construed as you trying to impress(or stalk) Kappa Kappa Gamma, so it might not be the wisest choice to wear until after rush is over. The color block is cute too and would be appropriate for 1st round. As in most southern recruitments, you get a bit more dressy as rush week progresses. |

The double-blue dress to me was too casual (the write-up on it talks about wearing it over a swimsuit). I didn't even think about Kappa (lol). I also liked the orange one with a bow; I just liked the other two better. The lace one is cute-love the color- but it is strapless so unless you wear a cardigan or something over it, it could be difficult to wear. It's going to be hot, so you need something sleeveless & cool. Cool=comfortable. Think about comfort. These are going to be long days and you don't want to get too hot.

Thank you everyone for all of the advice. Like I said in the OP, I have 3 of the 4 day's outfits planned out. Here is an idea for the 3rd day- Sisterhood. I want to wear a nicer sundress/summer dress in coral. I currently have the J. Crew necklace shown below (in turquoise) and it always looks so pretty with coral. I just can't seem to find a flattering dress in coral that isn't too dressy or too casual. Any help?

By the way, this is the layout of my schools recruitment week:
Day 1- Open house (sundresses and sandals) Day 2- Philanthropy (official recruitment shirt and shorts) Day 3- Sisterhood (nicer sundresses and heels) Day 4- Preference (casual cocktail i.e. nice dresses and heels) |

That last dress from ModCloth that the other PNM posted would go well with your tourquise necklace and is probably the right amount of dressy/casual.
