Thanks for sharing your story! Looking forward to reading more!
Great start - mods, can we move this to the recruitment stories forum? I'm afraid it may get overlooked here.
One of the mods (moderators) can, I think.

Are you going to finish? Please do!
Things have a way of getting confusing where rush is concerned, can't they?
It almost seems like COB would be more confusing that Formal Recruitment. At least in formal you have to continuously narrow down your top choices.
Do tell!
Didn't this take place a while ago? I like your story, but dragging it out this long isn't necessary unless you're posting live.

This is one of those cases where "the rules" for writing your rush story really apply. Don't start your story if you "don't have much time" and either way, it's best to type the whole thing before you start posting. Break it up over several posts to differentiate days/rounds/whatever, but not to be a drama queen over an extended period. |
Before you get your panties in a bundle, AlphaFrog makes VERY valid points. If this were a live story a delay in posting is understandable. Your previous post was at 11p yesterday. There really is no need to add the 'suspense' (next you might add the posts of 'do you want to hear the rest of the story' or something similar.). Yes, we understand you have a life, but since this all has already happened there is not reason why you could not have typed up your story in advance of posting - then we could congratulate you, ask questions on how things are going, ask for you to offer suggestions for PNM who could see your story, etc.
And I'm not trying to be rude or anything, But you responded pretty quickly to the criticisms, so it seems you would have time to type up the rest of the story instead..
It's not they we're not interested, because we are, you're story is very good so far, but a lot of the stories on here drag on ohne ende, for no reason whatsoever. Or they're never finished, which is even more annoying. Therefore, while you still have our attention, please finish it within reasonable time.
So, was there this THING? How do you feel about sequins?
I only want to know when people are finally going to stop throwing out the word bully every time someone in their life says something critical or disagrees with them?
Wow, I'm glad things worked out for you, but what a hot mess! A two-month COB period, and then they don't even want to take anyone? And the other groups being in contact with you as long as they were? Oy, I hope that the CPH gets their act together before they really start missing out on great women.

Hot mess indeed! So glad that you ended up with a bid to your #1 choice. Were you in a pledge class of 1, or did they bid other pnms? |
Welcome to the bonds of Tri Delta! So glad it worked out for you. I hope your membership is wonderful! :)

I also said that girls that drag their stories over an extended period are drama queens, you were the one that applied it to yourself. I am able to pick a different thread to read, but I'm also able to read and comment on this one. Between the codename change, the "not having time to write", and the dramatic cliffhanger, this story reads like fanfic. Let me be clear, since you obviously need it, I'm not outright calling it fanfic, I'm saying that the symptoms are there. |
Congratulations! So glad it worked out and sorry some posters can't let it go and move on. Be nice everyone, it is not that hard.
Congratulations! How'd you like being a PC of one? The PC before mine was one, and then mine was almost half the chapter so it was amazing to us how someone could do it alone :)
Congratulations! I'm glad it all worked out!
I'm a little confused about what a story about informal and unstructured recruitment has to do with these lessons for formal recruitment.
What does this story have to do with bid day and handling emotions there, etc? I feel like I missed something vital in this thread that links it to this advice..... |
Hmmm.
This thread...doesn't quite pass the sniff test, sorry.
Congrats on Tri-Delta...
But... jebus. A two-month long COB process? Does that even leave you enough time for a proper new member period? And then your chapter decides NOT to take any new members after two months of activities and commitment already? Without even reaching out to women to offer bids? This does seem a bit A) fishy or B) seriously disorganized. |

Maybe the OP aspires to become a stickied recruitment story, a la StrawberryGloss. |
I tried to do a multiquote post, but with all the fonts and such, it looked like a goat threw up. I'm kind of confused as to how all this was spread out over two months, especially if it was the kind of school where you had to register for COB with the Greek life office (i.e. the system/school is large enough that giving bids to people none of the sisters know is common).
