It is almost that time of year again. So I am now starting the thread for 2012-2013. Doing the tally is a total blast for me! Unless you are actually rushing or making a thread for a friend, a rec girl/boy or relative who is rushing, saying you are gonna rush and PMing me or posting the results, your name ain't gonna go on the list. If after bid day, I happen to find that there is a new member in a forum, I will add them to the list--no biggie. I'm thinking about rushing at LSU this fall! I'm really concerned about the fact that I'm a junior but I think I will do it since it's my last year of eligibility and I really want to. Oh, I really don't know how to go about recs so if someone has any advice I would really appreciate it :] It's pretty much up to the PM to get those. Recs are really coveted because recruitment is so competitive here (as most of you know.)

Chances are you'll find the answers and advice you'll need but you're really gonna have to do the work to secure those recs. Start with the people you already know and contact your nearest Alumnae Panhellenic ASAP but don't be surprised if you have difficulty with them, too. Based on what I've read online, most PNMs have submitted their resumes and photos to potential rec writers weeks ago. LSU Recruitment starts in mid-August. You'd better get crackin' at those recs if you're hoping to get them in by the suggested deadline of July 1st. |
I do! One of my friends is already helping me find an Alumn from her chapter to write me a rec, but it's been difficult for her too. I just recently decided to go through rush because I was scared of being dropped just because I'm a junior. I had heard from a friend that juniors (and seniors) weren't allowed to go through formal recruitment but the Greek Life office said that wasn't true so I'm just now trying to get everything set up.

I will be surprised if hypo goes through recruitment, but she has THREE friends going to school at my old campus who would all make awesome sorority women but they are on the fence about going through recruitment. I'll be working on them all summer. Another is going to Michigan and I'm also working on her...lol. They are all intrigued with the scholarship, philanthropy and sisterhood but concerned about the partying aspect because none of them are into the party scene. If hypo does go through recruitment, it is deferred.

My daughter will be a PNM at a Auburn in August. She's obtained recs for 16 of the 17 groups, and she's looking hard for that 17th. She is a legacy to one of the groups, but since I'll likely post a recruitment story at some point, I don't want to say which one just yet. Here's to a great recruitment for all this year's PNMs! There are a group of girls going through recruitment from my dd's HS. They are are friendly with each other AND ALL of them would make great NM's for any group on campus. The HS is very close to the college campus and usually there is only 1 girl going through from the HS. It will be fun watching them go through.

We just didn't have anyone in our community nor neighboring communities that was a member of that particular GLO. Yikes! Of course, I worry that she will fall in love with this sorority and not have a recommendation on file. I hope that if that is the case they will love her as well and secure a recommendation for her. At this point ... it is what it is. I'm sure we will need to encourage one another as our girls go through this process. :)

There is a very small, minute possibility that the daughter of my office-mate will go through recruitment at Vanderbilt this winter. He is an Alpha Phi Alpha, and she received a scholarship from one of the Divine 9 Sororities. But she's expressed an interest in NPC sororities as well. I've told both of them if she decides to go the NPC route, I will try my hardest to help her secure recs to all of the groups at Vandy! |
