RECRUITMENT 2011-12

We welcomed nearly 5,000 new members. Our collegiate membership has increased by more than 46% in the last 5 years. We pledged 245 legacies, and 80% of our chapters met or exceeded Panhellenic Quota.

University of South Carolina Homecoming Queen 2012: Lauren Nottoli, Gamma Phi Chapter President for 2011-2012!!!

The new student body president at Texas State University? Gamma Phi's own Vanessa Cortez!

Yes indeed! Our Gamma Chis are making such a big impact at Texas State. :D Four sisters were also elected to the student body senate. So proud of our sisters!

Alison is graduating this semester and will serve as one of Gamma Phi Beta's CLCs in the coming year!

Leydanis Piloto, a Gamma Phi at the University of South Florida was chosen as Panhellenic Woman of the Month! :) And she's president of her chapter!

Brittney Dunham, president of our Zeta Chi chapter at TCU, received the Greek Woman of the Year Award!

At Oregon's FSL awards this year Nu chapter was recognized for having the most community service hours out of all the sorority chapters! We were also given an award for having the strongest sisterhood, as voted on by other FSL community members!

I chose a picture of Honta Smalley Bredin as my avatar...fellow Beta chapter sister, former President of Gamma Phi Beta, and sister of Dr. Frank Smalley, who coined the term sorority for us!

Way to go, Nu Chapter!! :D

Oh, this could be a fun idea for a thread... Where we could name and talk about our favorite "historical" Gamma Phis. Mine would be Lindsey Barbee. :)

I would choose Kate Gardner (Syracuse), who got the ball rolling on our first extension, wrote to a friend at the Univ. of Michigan to see who might be interested in starting a chapter, and rode the train to Ann Arbor to initiate the charter members of Beta chapter! But, I don't have a picture of her....

Can you even imagine what that trip must have been like for her? Not so much the logistics, but the excitement/anticipation of going to meet future sisters at another school for the very first time. Gives me chills.

Similarly, I would love to travel back in time and be a fly on the wall for any Convention circa 1900-1920 or so. :D

Loved seeing Kristin Chenoweth throw the crescent at the Tony Awards tonight, after sharing that she's a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority! :)

And now Kelli O'Hara just won her first Tony beating out her chapter sister K-Chen.

A nice bump for a great piece of news (and to move that spam on down the list!)
