Like I said before, Im sorry if your not trying to piss people off. If thats the case, then you need to get a clue and think before you type. If you dont like the reactions your getting from people, quit giving them something to react about. Whether you can see it or not, your pushing peoples buttons.

I didn't always like what SH80er said-(Mostly, the WAY she said it)
I think it's a bit harsh to ban her, but that's not my decision to make. Why do I think it was harsh?
1. She's very young and obviously doesn't have a lot of experience interacting with people.
2. She was doing so much better and at times she added to the boards in a positive way.
3. She was always on the defensive and lets face it that usually means she's been attacked a lot in her life. Did she bring it on herself? Maybe, mabe not.
4 SHE EDITED IT. She spoke out in hurt-haven't we ALL- she thought better of it and CHANGED the post.

Don't worry everybody, I'm sure it's only a matter of time until Sh80est makes his/her/its inaugural appearance on GreekChat.

I think most people are relieved because there's been a history prior to Sh80er (Sh80) of the exact same type of assine behaviour.

What is/was the problem? I've heard WAY worse on this board, by "moderators" even! :eek:

I second that motion! There are a few mods that tend to get power hungry at times, but since they are mods, they hold that special "i am a gc mod, I rule you" status. And for the love of pee...don't spell their names wrong..you will be in a world of hurt!

If you know that you don't know, then you really know.

I've never had a problem with a moderator. If anything I think there are times when they might have stepped in sooner.

Someone (can't remember who) suggested I should be one, but I wasn't feeling particularly moderate at that time. It can be difficult.

As for SH80er, she was either inept when it came to understanding how to talk/relate to others, totally insensitive to the way her words affected, remarkably uninformed or simply trying to see how far she could push the envelope. (Point well taken that she did appologize, assuming that it was sincere.)

If it was one of the first three it's too bad -- but I have a feeling it was the last. I don't think we need that. Our conversations can be contentious enough without baiting each other.

Having said that, I would have been OK with taking James' advice about just cooling off.

Is here a set of rules somewhere on GC that defines the infractions that could cause one to get banned?

YHOO has a nice little feature, it's called the IGNORE button-HONESTLY-so does SI. You see, when people don't like a particular poster, they can enable the IGNORE feature. It's very useful for people who haven't developed that capablity.

I've never thought that I've been better than anyone else because John decided to make me a mod. But then again, I see so many dumbasses on the boards...and when they make multiple flame attacks toward me, I will get ticked off. I get even more ticked off when they're unprovoked.

now..being a moderator, I'm sure a lot of people like to see that you "see so many dumbasses on the boards." On the other hand, I don't think anyone is a dumbass on these boards. True, at times, people say things that shouldn't be said, nevertheless, it's a community, and everyone has a voice, so is someone to be viewed as a dumbass because of something they say? I think not.
Further, being a moderator, shouldn't you take a somewhat non-biased stance in the matter, instead of drawing the conclusion of someone being a dumbass? Maybe it's just the situation? I leave it at that, you have proved to be an unworthy opponent in this debate. I need a challenge, a boulder in the road, not a pebble.

When I contribute to GC, I try not to think of my posts as worthy for debate. I didn't even know that I was in the middle of one until you called me unworthy!

Mods try to be unbiased, but the actions of a certain few have proven that they are worthy of that unfortunate label. Again, that's my personal opinion, and I can't speak for the other mods, but I know that some of them feel the same way.

As for a challenge, I suggest you look elsewhere, because I have better things to do.

OTW, I totally agree! Notice that the people on this board who think that SH80 hasn't done anything are the ones who weren't here when she did and those posts were so offensive that they were deleted.

You know that lots of the mods agree!;)

Here's a bit of info for the members who believe moderators do the banning: John, the Administrator, does the banning. Moderators are middle management. We still have someone to report to.
Members complain to us, afer trying to moderate the situation, we go to the higher-ups.

Any time a person is "judged" by another and punishment (as in banned) is doled out, you WILL have the freedom fighters come forward-and thank GOD for that! I did not read all the prev. posts, but I can still have an opinion as can EVERYONE, based on the posts that were CURRENT! Lets just say there are two sides to this arguement and nothing EITHER side says will chage the end result and that is SH80er is BANNED! This has and always will be a PASSIONATE ideal...freedom of speech...there are times when people MUST see the gray areas. Everything isn't black and white. If I stop looking beyond my own nose, I WILL trip up! It appears that some people can't handle anything outside their own view of life. I admit, I have been guilty of this myself. What I really want to know is- is this most recent situation as HORRID as the statements that were edited? I can't believe it is anywhere NEAR as antagonistic as the deleted posts.
Could we have schultz (please don't yell at me I know I got it wrong) banned because I didn't like his thread about ANAL SEX!

well, as far as shultzz is concerned, he just says something stupid and then goes away. kind of like when you're channel surfing and run across howard stern on E! making some nekkid chick sit on his lap. you just say, oh howard, and press the remote. it doesn't really bug your brain.

I would say I'm one of the least easily offended, least PC people here, and I agree with the action that's been taken. Pleading innocence/naivete only goes so far.

Okay this thread is on its third page and I think two of those three arent even about what the thread was supposed to be about. SH80er started this thread and she simply apologized to those she may have offended. As we all know, she is now banned. I really dont think there is any reason to keep this thread open anymore since it looks like its just starting to flame. This thread isnt about flaming one another and thats what it has turned into. :rolleyes:
