Favorite Board Games
Growing up, we all played them. From Candy Land to Monopoly, whether you were bored out of your mind or stuck inside on a rainy or snowy day, what was YOUR GAME?!!?
We did not have many games, my brother and I, but one of our faves was DON'T BREAK THE ICE. |
SORRY!
Pictionary
This is not a board game, but dominoes |
When I was younger, my brothers and I loved our "Ants in the Pants" game...we couldn't go a day w/out playing it!! :D
In college, my friends and I went out and purchased a Monopoly game. We lived in a suite (8 people) and of the 8, 5 of us were seniors, and we only had 12 hours each, filled mostly with classes we didn't really need....so, when everyone finished for the day and was just having down time, we would pull out the board and go at it until somebody won!! And since we seemed to always have down time, we were always playing!! :) |
When I was younger we played the game of Life, Monopoly, Sorry, and Trouble. Trouble was my for real for real favorite.:D
|
This isn't a board game, but my sister and I would go crazy over Connect 4....lol! I was such a little nerd that I loved to play Scrabble (still do).
|
I forgot
My brother and I were some LIFE and Connect 4 playing mojos.
We did not play a whole lot of Monopoly until both of us were teenagers and it would be an aaaaaaaalllllllll day affair. We also played Trouble. |
Monopoly, my sister used to always be the banker and cheat by hiding money under the board
Sorry! Trouble Candy Land Checkers Connect Four Life Operation Hungry, Hungry Hippoes Some of these aren't exactly board games, but I still liked them! |

I loved Connect four, Othello and Trouble.
|
'Trouble' was our family game with my poppy (RIP)
My mom normally beats the pants off me playing 'Scrabble' but I got her back recently by using all my letters TWICE during one 500-pt game. Needless to say, I beats the pants of HER that game. :) My six-year-old almost always beats me in 'WAR', go figure. When I get together with my cousins, uncles and aunts, we LOVE card games like 1000's (a wildcard version of 500 Rummy) and King's Korner (a modified version of Solitare but plays up to 4 people). We also play 'UNO' and 'Spades'. 'Spades' was the game back on campus though. If you didn't take it seriously and continually reneged, you would find yourself without a partner for the next few gatherings! |
I love Scrabble and Trivia Pursuit.
|
Hungry hungry hippoes!
twister! Spades! Dominoes! Battleship! |
I didn't play a lot of games requiring more than 1 person because I was an only child. The neighborhood children were "bad" so my mom didn't let them come in the house a lot. But when I did play games it was:
Monopoly Checkers Connect 4 Memory Hungry Hungry Hippos |
I'm having a moment here trying to figure out the name of this one particular game. Somebody help me!!!
You have these different colored pegs on one side and the opponent has about 5 tries to figure out the same sequence of the pegs you have set up. WHAT is the name of THAT game????????? |

My favorite games...
I would have to say that almost all of my favorite games have already been mentioned by some of you all, but here is the run down:
1. Clue (brings back those family game night memories) 2. Hungry Hungry Hippos (I use to go at them lil white balls with a vengence) 3. Monopoly (I don't think we have ever had a honest banker) 4. Scrabble (To this day I think moms cheated on some of those words back in the day) 5. Operation (The reason I didnt go into medicine) 6. Monkeys in the Barrel BUT you all have neglected to mention some of the classic games of the 80's....:):):) 1. Scategories 2. GUESS WHO!! (How can we forget that game some of those people just looked a fool) 3. Pictionary 4. Outburst 5. Taboo 6. Gestures (This definately makes for some embarrasing memories) 7. Mall Maddness (My first experiences with shopping) |
