Favorite Movie Scene...?

What is the one scene from one movie that you could watch over and over again?

For me, it is the scene in Say Anything where John Cusack's character, Lloyd Dobbler, holds up the jam box in front his ex-girlfriend's house. The Peter Gabriel song ("In Your Eyes") is playing...it's a great moment.

aggieAXO 12-06-2001 04:35 AM

The scene in Princess Bride where she discovers that the love of her life is not dead, I am sure there are more but have a senior moment at this time.

justamom 12-06-2001 07:53 AM

I LOVE Pricess Bride.

One of my favorites is An Officer And a Gentleman, when he carries her off in the end.

LeslieAGD 12-06-2001 08:39 AM

Off the top of my head, I can think of a few immediately...

A Few Good Men - Tom Cruise's drunk scene

Shag - When Carson and Buzz are in the closet!

When Harry Met Sally - The 1st Restaurant Scene (not the orgasm scene)

AOPiLaLa 12-06-2001 10:26 AM

Oh, I love movie scenes!! Here are some of mine

--Dirty Dancing--at the very end when Johnny and Baby do the last dance
--St. Elmo's Fire--when Billy and Jules are talking about the "abyss" and the lights, while the others are trying to break down the door to get into to help Jules
--Actually, pretty much every scene in St. Elmo's Fire--its the movie that rings closest to my heart at some many points in my life.

Scary Movie 2

-At the beginning when these rich old white folks were singing opera and their butler was playing the piano, then suddenly they started singing "Shake your a$$" and the butler very loudly said "I told you all before you ------ can't f@#k with me!"

-When the ghost bangs Tori Spelling.

alphachiohmy 12-06-2001 10:42 AM

the pottery scene in Ghost

the dinner/hair gel scene in Theres Something About Mary

Optimist Prime 12-06-2001 11:51 AM

I like the "Pass the asparagus (sp?) scene in American Beuty. Also the courtroom scene, I think its in malice, when the guy was like.."oh, you pray to god. When people pray that their son doesn't die from the car wreck, or that he can be saved, who do you think they are praying to? They're praying to me. I am god"
Thats so true. :)

justamom 12-06-2001 12:34 PM

Courtroom-To Kill A Mockingbird, when Atticus is examining Mayella
Euel-My spelling has gone from bad to worse!
The scene is mirrored in the movie(can't recall the name) where one by one they turn from black and white to color after the lead characters are pulled into an old 50's TV show.

xok85xo 12-06-2001 12:58 PM

the end of When Harry Met Sally, when billy crystal realizes that he loves meg ryan, so he runs to be with her on new years, tells her how much he loves her even with all her little quirks..and that when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone..you want the rest of your life to start right now...

kimmykimmy 12-06-2001 01:01 PM

When Danny Zuko is blown away by Sandy's transformation! You're the one that I want. Ooh ooh ooh. Honey!

alphaxidelta12 12-06-2001 01:04 PM

my two favorite scenes are:
1. the end of dirty dancing when they do the final dance! i love that...could watch it over and over
2. the end of cruel intentions when everyone finds out Katherine is a lying bitch! i can't help but to love when someone like that gets what they deserve!

That movie was called Plesantville or Pleasantsville. Something along those lines. :)

Thank you BILLY! You saved me from a day of nagging memory loss!

valkyrie 12-06-2001 01:40 PM

My favorite is the scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's, where she finds Cat. Ohhh, I got all teary.

IowaHawkeye 12-06-2001 01:46 PM

the bar scene in Top Gun where Mav and Goose sing "You've lost that loving feeling" to Charlie - gets me smiling (and wanting a navy man) every time!

side note - i'm obsessed with this movie, we named my dog charlie (she's a girl) b/c of it :D

Oh and give me almost any adam sandler movie an di'll be laughing for hours...

shampoo is better... no! conditioner is better!

Hey, your girlfriend is acting really hooterific again

Scuba Steve! Damn you!

KSig RC 12-06-2001 02:13 PM

-the "Killer smokes crack" scene in half-baked - comic genius.

-the drunk-stumbling-home scene in cocktail - "No matter what stage of enlightenment society reaches, a man will always be judged by how much alcohol he can consume - and women will always be impressed, whether they like it or not."

-the Jesus scene from The Big Lebowski - "Walter, what's a pederast?"

-the boat scene at the beginning/end of Tommy Boy (probably the only serious part of my favorite movie ever)

-The ex-boyfriend scene from Meet the Parents - "I believe you would call it . . . a hopa?"

From Tombstone, the "I'm your huckleberry" line before Doc has that duel.

MoxieGrrl 12-06-2001 02:29 PM

An Officer and a Gentleman: When Richard Gere carries her out of the factory. I have seen that movie soo many times, and I still cry at the end

American History X: After Edward Norton kills the guys who were messing with his truck and the cops come, he turns around to look at his brother and puts his hands behind his head. It's kind of in slow motion, and the look in his eyes gives me chills everytime. It's just so powerful.

Peaches-n-Cream 12-06-2001 03:25 PM

It's a Wonderful Life: I love the whole movie, especially the ending!
Breakfast a Tiffany's: the party scene
Private Benjamin: This is the funniest line in a movie: "Now I finally know what I have been faking all these years!" ;)

Miami1839 12-06-2001 10:10 PM

Dead Poets Society when all the students stand on their desks for Robin Williams.

When all the pilots are being called up for the last operation in Top Gun and when goose plays 'great balls of fire' on the piano.

In a Few Good Men when Jack Nicholson is on the stand and admits fault. "Your messing with the wrong Marine"

In Black Sheep when Chris Farley can barely get out of the bathroom

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles "Thats not a pillow"

The love scenes in Jerry Macquire.

TexasPhi 12-07-2001 12:28 AM

Ohhh...Miami1839: the "Dead Poet's" scene is truly great. I agree with you.

KillarneyRose 12-07-2001 01:47 AM

For lack of a better term, I'll call it "The Shopping Scene" in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts' character buys out one store and then stops in the boutique where the saleslady had been snotty to her the day before.

Julia: "You work on commission, right?"
Saleslady: "Yes."
Julia holding up full shopping bags: "Big mistake; huge!" :D

stephyteague02 12-07-2001 11:41 AM

That scene in Cruel Intentions when Reese Witherspoon is coming up the escalator in the train station and Ryan Phillipe is there waiting for her.. ahhh... it is so sweet it gets me every time.

AOPiLaLa 12-07-2001 01:02 PM

Oh STEPHY--you are so right!!! I LOVE that scene!! YUMMY--Ryan Phillipe. Where is my hottie when I come up the escalator?

Oh heck yeah! My FAVORITE movie EVER. I was Audrey Hepburn (as Holly Golightly) for Halloween - long black dress, gloves, cigarette holder, big round sunglasses, everything. Even got a bunch of costume jewelry from my Mom and Grandma. Put my hair up too. It was sooo fun - looked really classy. The law school rents out a club and throws a big Halloween party every year and I got a lot of attention, which is never a bad thing. A lot of girls came as devils and many people came in scrubs (a lot of us know med or dental school students and can get scrubs easily) NO ONE else is ever Audrey Hepburn.

A surprising number of guys actually had seen the movie and knew who I was. One of the bartenders even called out to me, "Miss Hepburn!", told me I was "just a vision" and gave me a free drink. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and told him he was "an absolute darling." I suspect that bartender played for the other team, but to quote Seinfeld, "not that there's anything wrong with that!" and a free drink is a free drink! :D

queequek 12-08-2001 05:44 AM

Monster, Inc. the first 3 minutes with birds :) I couldn't stop laughing for like, 15 minutes

valkyrie 12-08-2001 03:14 PM

Oh, that is a great idea for a costume!!

When I was in law school, they called the yearly Halloween bash Palsgraf. It was always funny to hear people say, "Are you going to Palsgraf?"

the jerry springer scene in austin powers 2..

"i've got your hood, i've got your hood!!"

"the $^&*!#@ biting me, the $^&*!#@ biting me!!"

hehe..i crack up everytime i watch that :)

TexasPhi 12-08-2001 08:33 PM

A couple of scenes (both from "Bridget Jones' Diary"):

1. The scene where she tells Hugh Grant's character off and tells him what kind of job she'd rather have (the Saddam Hussain reference).

2. The scene where Bridget goes running through the snowy streets to find Colin Firth's character in nothing but her underwear and a pair of running shoes--hilarious.

Miami1839 12-08-2001 11:30 PM

Cool :)

PKTSU01 12-09-2001 03:33 AM

Wow, can't believe no one said this one...

Basic Instinct....

When Michael Douglas is pissed and he and the g/f do it like rabid dogs, HOLY GEEZ! Gives new meaning to the word rough...not that tender love isn't cool but...agressive sex kicks ass when appropriate!:p

AOX81 12-10-2001 10:11 PM

The scene that gets me everytime is from the movie The Bridges of Madison County when Meryl Streep is in the truck with her husband and Clint Eastwood is in the truck in front of them waiting for her to leave with him. I know how bad she wants to get out of the truck...but she doesn't :(

KSigkid 12-11-2001 01:11 AM

Some of the best movie scenes:

The scene in "Meet the Parents" that appears at the end of my profile, where he tries to explain the milking thing.

The scene in "Godfather" where Al Pacino has all of the mob bosses killed off while he is in the church renouncing Satan. (amazing scene)

The scene in "Field of Dreams" where Kevin Costner and his dad play catch - makes me want to go home and play catch with my dad.

The scene in "The Natural" where Redford hits the home run to win the game at the end.

(can you tell I'm a baseball fan?)

ShaedyKD 12-11-2001 02:42 AM

I also ADORE the scene in Top Gun where the boys sing "You've Lost that Lovin Feeling." (Funny side note, at a kareoke social with Lambda Chi, all of the brothers got up on stage, with Maverick (one of the guy's nicknames) leading the group. It was the cutest thing ever, they even got down on their knees and sang to us!)

The scene in the Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy realizes there's no place like home.

And a brand new favorite, because it's so clever, the part in Oceans 11, where they replay the events of the robbery and...I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet, but you'll know what I mean when you see it!

Optimist Prime 12-11-2001 02:54 AM

Dejajeva 12-11-2001 05:58 PM

Oh I'm totally digging the end of ocean's 11. Of course it's nothing like the origional, but ...how totally cool. I never would have figured it out! They thought of EVERYTHING.

My favorite scenes:

Sleepless in Seattle- When Tom and Meg see eachother on the top of the Empire state building, and just.."know". -melts-

And kind of connecting with that-

An Affair to remember- The end scene in her apartment when he realizes what's happened and why she didn't come.

Casablanca- hell the whole movie.

I can't believe nobody said it, but one of the most famous scenes in American Musical Movies-

Gene Kelly singing "Singing in the rain" in the movie of the same name

AND, because I adore Gabriel Bryne and well, in all honesty, I was turned on during it...
in End of Days, when Satan's sleeping with that dood's wife and daughter. lol. Not the threesome part, but more just, well Gabriel half nakie.

hehe.

Beef 12-11-2001 06:07 PM

Oh yeah, that scene from Animal House when Bluto downs that bottle of Jack Daniels(my drink of choice:cool: ) and the "Guess what I am" part in the cafeteria.
