Color Run
Has anybody done a Color Run? Children's Health Care of Atlanta did one today and they are hysterically funny. You start out the run in a white T-shirt and as you get to certain points in the race, people spray you with powdery but sticky colors and then at the end, you're sprayed with this incredible rainbow of color. There are pictures on FB of clouds of colors going up in the air at the end.
There's no place nearby to wash off so 10,000 people have left the site in various hues--Ballerina is at least half purple.:D |

I'm doing Color Run part 2 next weekend in Atlanta - it looks like it will be a blast!
I am going to do the Portland one in September. Just waiting for registration to open!
A bunch of my OPA sisters did it in Atlanta today and some more are doing it next weekend!
Wow! I just saw the finish line pictures and Ballerina and the Baby Berry Cousins look like Easter eggs!
Sounds like lots of fun!
My daughter ran in Atlanta today to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. She said she had a blast and the pictures were hilarious!
I found this promotional video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWsfHC-0d6A
Looks like fun, but the neat freak in my was also cringing! |

But my 19 year old self would have loved it! PS: when I saw the title of the thread, I thought of madras... |
I thought of laundry, when you wash something red with the lights and the color runs all over everything :)

I did too, when Ballerina said that they were doing that run! Honeychile, omigosh, madras! It was a huge big deal to have it with the colors properly run!
Looks pretty, but all I can think is how do you keep it out of your eyes and mouth? Is it food grade stuff? I would guess you'd wear clothes that you'd throw away.
I've purchased swim goggles to wear during the run, and am going to have a bandana over my nose and mouth.
I seriously cannot wait! |
The website says it's food grade cornstarch. To me, it looks like ground up sidewalk chalk.
AnchorAlumna, the website goes into all that. You CAN eat it but they say it's not tasty and is remarkably high in calories. I think they said it's basically food colored corn starch. They also give instructions on how to make the color stick permanently to your clothes if you want.
There's a Color Run in Irvine the weekend after we arrive there so I hope to see it. They sold out, added another start time and sold out on that one as well! Apparently this is a hot activity for people. |
I'm doing it in Columbus in July with some of my TD sisters. Super excited!
I'm doing the NJ race. NYC is sold out. :(
A bunch of my sisters did it and had trouble washing the colors out, specifically pink. It looked really cool though. How do you get to be one of the color people?

I am doing the Vancouver one on August 18th, but only because I got a free entry through my running store. It looks like fun.
The Chicago color run was earlier this summer. A bunch of gals from my JC did it and the pictures were awesome.
I just did the Color Run in New England with a friend of mine this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. Some of the colors took a few days to get rid of though.
My chapter made a team and we're doing a Color Me Rad race together this fall! We're going to put tape on our shirts in the shape of our letters and then rip off the tape at the end! :)
Also it's my first ever race so I'm super excited! |
I did the Columbus one. I accidentally inhaled the blue powder. Hold your breath in the color zones!

I know this thread is a little old, but Color Run is finally coming to the UK, DH & I, along with a bunch of friends are taking part, cannot wait for some messy fun!
A few of my sisters did the Run or Dye 5K a few weeks back and loved every minute of it.
There's Color Me Rad coming in the Fall....I'll try that. |
I never thought I could walk 3.1 miles but I signed up for my local Color Run. I made it up to 2.5 on the treadmill so I knew I could do it. After the training I did, I slipped on our ceramic tile while getting ready that morning and broke my toe. I still went with my friends and walked from the car to the finish line (which was right by the start), and slowly walked to the blue section which was the last color. I sat and watched everyone and then met up with my friends. I was so bummed but still got some color.
Color Me Rad was held the same day downtown Detroit (ours was on EMU's campus) and now Run or Dye is coming up in August and I'm debating walking that. |

Heh, so Mr. LP is a runner and was doing as many races as possible. He signed up for this and was feeling good that day...he won!...only to find out it was a fun run and not timed, womp womp.
