Be it NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL

The Olympics, associated football or whatever, post here!!!

DaemonSeid 03-21-2012 02:55 PM

Tebow is overrated. I think that was a good move on Manning's part though.

Peyton Manning in the Mile High City and more....

I was really hoping that this would NOT happen. I do not want Peyton Manning in Denver. Although he claims that his injuries are fine, I still don't believe it. No one does...except for the smoke coming from John Elway's ass. Yes, I know that Elway and others were wonderful in their later days. I still don't buy it.

AND YES, I LIKE ELWAY.
I LOVE ELWAY.
WHO IN DENVER DOES NOT?

I also like Tebow. Good kid.
Apparently, Elway and Bowlen aire seeing something or lack thereof that we the public are not in Tim Tebow.

Surely, Elway could have spent more time with Timmy. But, he an Bowlen want a championship more and now.

On side note, not related to this and could be double go in the DATING AND RELATIONSHIPS SECTION;
My boyfriend who went to an out of state school but now lives in my state, said that he would root for the local state school instead of my out of state school when it comes to sports.
I responded
"No boobies..."

His response "I root for (insert my out of state school.)"
~~~Funny how he changed his reply so quick. I knew he'd see it my way.
For some reason he does not care about his out of state school. He says it is all the past.
moe.ron 03-21-2012 11:50 PM
I don't get the Tebow trade at all. The Jets just signed an extension and got 2 QB back up and said that they're behind Sanchez all the way. Then, a few week later they traded for Tebow. What the hell?
I just msg my brother and mocked him about the Tebow trade. He was not happy about it at all.
PrettyBoy 03-22-2012 01:06 AM
Although Hamilton is my favorite driver in F1, I would like to see Vettel win a third title this year, because it will be three consecutive titles, and the only drivers in F1 history to ever have done that were Schumacher and Fangio.
I would almost want to say that it makes Sanchez trade bait but somehow it doesn't feel right. Either way Tebow won't be starting soon.
However I get the feeling that the Broncos put almost all their eggs in one basket by trading Tebow for Manning.
if Manning goes down then who is left?
AXOmom 03-22-2012 10:04 AM
I like Tim Tebow, and I loved the fact that despite his "technical difficulties" he often helped my Broncos win through sheer desire and hard work BUT that's only going to get you so far in the NFL if you don't have certain skills, and I understand Elway's desire to get someone in who can pass a ball and get them to a championship which I think is out of Tebow's current range.
I was hoping they'd get Manning and keep Tebow with the idea of using Manning as long as he was physically able and letting him train Tebow for the future. Unfortunately John Elway didn't call and ask for my opinion as a fan.....oh well, his loss. Hopefully, Manning will stay healthy.
I know somebody is watching the NCAA games right?
IrishLake 03-23-2012 01:57 PM
DS, my bracket is so busted (thanks to Mizzou), so from here on out, I'm cheering on the Ohio Bobcats! (and Ohio State and Xavier - how can I not cheer on the Ohio teams when they made up one quarter of the Sweet 16?)
In related news - How friggin cool is it that out of the Sweet 16 schools, 7 of them are all within relatively short driving distance of each other? Louisville, Indiana, UK, Xavier and UC (cross-city rivals!), Ohio State, and Ohio. I think that says something great about this region!
In non-related news, my friend who has a pair of Cody Hodgson's (NHL) underpants (signed in her lipstick) is thinking about selling them on Ebay and donating the money to the March of Dimes.
I decided not to do a bracket this year...might have been a good idea.
AXOmom 03-23-2012 05:25 PM
All of my NCAA teams either never made it in this year, or were out by round 2. Actually, I ended up in the very uncomfortable position of having 2 of my favorite teams (Gonzaga and West Virginia) play each other in the first round. So I don't care much anymore....I'll still watch the finals though. I'm a sucker for that "One Shining Moment" thing.
My son's now in Louisville, so I think I'm going to root for them now.
Not normally an Ohio State fan, but I think it's fortunate they beat UC. I'm just not sure the possibility of Xavier and UC playing again this season would be a good thing...given their last game.
IrishLake 03-23-2012 10:33 PM
And now only 1 team from Ohio survives. :( Ohio played such a great game, I was so hoping they'd knock off UNC.
My husband went to the emergency room Thursday evening and was admitted for bronchitis/diabetes complications. I stayed with him & did not plan to watch the Kentucky-Indiana game (late Friday pm) at the hospital. But with everything going on, at least we remembered to watch the game. Go Big Blue!
He's out now & we just finished watching the Louisville-Florida game. Louisville pulled it off (yay!!) so I am really hoping for a Kentucky-Louisville matchup.:)
Any mitten-staters looking forward to Ferris State v.s. Union in the Frozen Four April 5th?
DaemonSeid 03-26-2012 07:38 PM
no love for the Tarheels??
Heh...ok
Manchester United win and are now at the top of the table...happy for that!!
Chelsea v AC Milan at Fed Ex field this summer right before the season starts.
Yeah, the Kentucky-Louisville rivalry is already getting ugly:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports...ZgS_story.html
If the link does not work, just google "Kentucky basketball." It's only Wednesday- we still have over 3 days until the game.:)
AXOmom 03-28-2012 03:07 PM
^^^Geesh, I know they take their basketball seriously in Kentucky, but it sounds like someone needs to get some perspective. It makes you wonder what would have happened if Duke and N. Carolina played each other in a Final Four. Wait....have Duke and N. Carolina ever played each other in a Final Four?
Not viewing the game online...which team won?
^^^That would depend on which game you're asking about.
Sorry, I ran out of computer time...Pitt vs Wash State men's basketball final was on last night, and I don't have cable tv. Realize it's not a BIG NCAA GAME, but thought I'd ask; Pitt 71, WSU 65 (in morning paper).
(also in paper, Mercer won 70-67 in men's basketball final over Utah State if nutbrnhair didn't know)
AXOmom 03-31-2012 07:49 PM
^^^Okay. Yep, another example of the black hole that is Pac-12 basketball this year. Cougs are my (wait a minute...counting, counting) fifth? yeah fifth favorite basketball team -so that game officially made basketball season a complete disaster for me.
DaemonSeid 04-03-2012 05:07 AM
Anybody remember Ryan Leaf? The guy who was supposed to have the career that Peyton Manning is having?
Well after getting out of jail a few days ago, this happened
Pretty crazy that they have a DIII school (Union) playing in this tournament!
Should be interesting to see the attendance figures, as it is being played in St. Pete, FL. It is hard to tell the attendance of the second game, as it is in the waning moments and BC is beating UM handily, looks a bit scant. But that could be from people leaving early, or, because it is in St. Pete. Went to a Frozen Four in Boston many, many moons ago, and it was packed, standing room only, with tickets being scalped outside. Rooting for BC, as I am a big Jerry York fan.
