Alpha Gamma Delta Convention 2012

We don't have a thread for this? Resolved!

Convention information came out today. I'm totally loving the online format of convention registration, and the ability to see who all is attending.

Also loving the free afternoon in St. Louis. So thankful we've moved in the direction of being able to enjoy the city where convention is.

Who's going?

I'll be there :)

AGDee 03-02-2012 01:11 AM

I'll be there, but you knew that already :)

I am suggesting the City Museum for part of our afternoon off. My daughter says it is incredible.

Benzgirl 03-03-2012 03:59 PM

Alpha Gams from around here are trying to find descent prices for flights. Right now, SW seems to be the cheapest.

DoctorD 03-03-2012 05:09 PM

I can't make flight reservations until next month at the earliest - but it looks like it will be in the low $300 range. I can handle that.

agzg 03-03-2012 05:57 PM

I'm trying to decide if I should just drive or if I should fly - but it looks like (since I'm close anyway) an hour flight for about $125 versus a 5 hour drive might tip it in the direction of flying. :)

AGDee 03-03-2012 06:19 PM

I'm going to have to fly due to the time factor but DTW to STL is usually very reasonable. Hey agzg, are we still roomies for this event?

agzg 03-03-2012 06:30 PM

Sure. :) I haven't registered yet (COME ON TAX RETURN!) but how do you request a roommate?

AGDLynn 03-03-2012 06:35 PM

One of the problems with driving is the Dailey hotel parking rate about $21 a day.

Wish I could be there...maybe next time.

agzg 03-03-2012 06:39 PM

GOOD POINT, it'd be more expensive to drive!

It will be in the instructions; I think that you have to send in the reservations about the same time but not sure.

AGDee 03-03-2012 09:33 PM

They don't book rooms for us anymore, we book them ourselves. I almost booked our room but they needed all kinds of info about you that I don't have :) I'll get back with you through Imail about it :)

ETA: Delta and SouthWest have about the same airfare for me- $210 to $227, but Southwest includes TWO free checked bags. That might be worth it, especially for Convention.

AGDAlum 03-06-2012 12:07 PM

I'm hoping that the Epsilon Alphas will be able to have a meetup in St. Louis. We've enjoyed reconnecting via Facebook.

Benzgirl 03-14-2012 09:24 PM

I think I'm going too.

Like!

Benzgirl 03-16-2012 09:01 PM

I've noticed airfares have dropped from about one month ago. We were first looking at $400+. United is around $290. Southwest has fares from $190-$250 depending on how many states you want to visit in one day.

AGDee 06-17-2012 12:45 PM

I booked my flight last night on Delta for $239.00. Then I booked the shuttle. So I have a hotel room, a flight and an airport shuttle, but I haven't registered for Convention yet...lol. Waiting on the travel reimbursement from my trip to South Carolina.

I get in at 10:06 am and am booked on a 10:30 shuttle to the hotel.

AGDee 07-11-2012 11:28 PM

It is next week already!

agzg 07-11-2012 11:36 PM

I think I have all the stuff I need! Very exciting!

Always AlphaGam 07-11-2012 11:41 PM

Jealous of everyone who gets to go!

Just got word today that my Alumnae Chapter is Five Star once again! YAY!

Have a great time ladies...and I can't wait to see the pix on Facebook!

DoctorD 07-12-2012 12:37 AM

I have no idea what I'm wearing.

Seriously.

Whatever you wear, you will look phenomenal :)

I might be white dress shopping this weekend.. again. I ordered one online and the color is NOT pure white, it is "pearl". It said white on the web site.It is strapless so I purchased a white shrug to wear with it and it looks silly because the shrug is white and the dress is "pearl". Ditto with my white shoes. Ugh. All of my other white dresses are WAY too big, which is a good thing, but it isn't.

I saw that! Congratulations!

Uh, I may or may not have bought a ton of new dresses because "but we wear jeans in the office and I don't have meeting appropriate clothes!" (which is only half true). So I have the problem of having too much to wear, I think. I think this weekend I'll get some organizing done since I'm working on Tuesday and hate doing things after work that don't involve food and drink.

It is a good thing!

I also may be bringing 2 or more options for Feast of Roses because I can't get ready for any dressy event without changing my clothes at least once.

Always AlphaGam 07-12-2012 12:47 PM

Nic and Dee, please please please promise you'll update your FB walls (and tag me so I don't miss it) as soon as they announce the location for Convention 2014, okay? ;) Crossing my fingers for something West-ward again!

agzg 07-12-2012 01:37 PM

Between the two of us we should be able to handle that. Maybe.

DoctorD 07-12-2012 03:13 PM

I'll be tweeting/facebooking next location for sure.

I just tried on the infamous red dress [still works, doesn't look too dated] and my initiation dress.

Verdict on the initiation dress - if I have to wear it, I can.. but if I can find a replacement [hahahahahaha!], that would be the better call.

Clearly haven't been doing well developing and prizing health and vigor of body.

I'll be shopping this weekend. Yay.

I was going to suggest the red dress. You were stunning in it, seriously. I'm good on everything but the white dress thanks to the spring break cruise. I really hope I can find something.

No worries Always ... we will be updating. I'm taking my laptop too.

AGDee 07-12-2012 07:21 PM

Oh and I just suggested DoctorD and Always AlphaGam as FB friends.

LOL! I got tickled with that suggestion, too :)

Hello sister friend!

AGDLynn 07-13-2012 05:42 PM

That's what I always look for first although I'm still not sure why I got some friend requests..no mutual friends, not at a school where there is an AGD chapter/colony, etc.

AGDAlum 07-16-2012 03:54 PM

So near and yet so far.....I'll be with you all in spirit!

Xylochick216 07-17-2012 09:06 AM

Sorry for the crash, but enjoy the hotel and have a great convention. We finished convention last night and fly out today. Perhaps we'll cross paths in the airport!

Benzgirl 07-17-2012 07:12 PM

On my way to STL in the morning!

AGDee 07-17-2012 10:38 PM

Me too. What time do you get to STL, Benz? My flight arrives at 10:06

DoctorD 07-19-2012 08:05 AM

Met up with agzg and AGDee yesterday :)

Always AlphaGam 07-19-2012 02:10 PM

I just watched the State of the Fraternity online!

I am loving the updates on Facebook and Twitter from IHQ. It really makes me feel as if I'm there. Thank you, Communications Team!

And oh, to be in the room when the Alpha Chapter flag led the procession of new chapter flags!

I can't lie, it was pretty cool. Do you still follow me on Twitter? The hashtag, BTW, is #AGDconv12, seems like a ton of women are tweeting.

Red and Buff Roses to AGDee, too! We both received the Crescent last night!

Two women received the Circle - which has now been awarded 24 times. Counting the 2 new ones, there are 9 living recipients.
