I hate that Bid Day is on a Monday. That's the first full day of school for us so I won't be able to go down IF my daughter gets a bid :-( From what I have read, it must be quite the sight to see.
|
I just wrote a rec for a wonderful young lady going to Auburn in the fall. She seems like the kind of woman that will be an incredible asset to any of the sororities at Auburn...wishing her the best during recruitment!
|
WARRRRR EAGLE!!!!
|
TNAuburnMom, I concur...I am sad that I may not be able to be in Auburn on Bid Day if my daughter gets a bid as well. :(

I'm reading that schedule, thinking about the Alabama heat and humidity, and I'm exhausted. Recruitment not for the faint of heart.
|
Good luck to all the girls that will be going through recruitment! I hope those of you on GC that have daughters going through recruitment will be able to keep us updated with recruitment stories and such. They were a blast to read last year!
|
I know it is hot, but I can't imagine rush parties at 8 A.M.!! Lord save me, I have ever been at my best at that time of day. I worked that schedule hard, but I got through my entire 4 yr college career with only ONE 8 am class. :)

Does anyone know the name of that store that has all the Greek presents upstairs? I was there maybe 5 years ago and loved it! It's near Toomer's Corner.
|
Having 8AM rush parties is pretty brutal. However, in that heat the morning parties will be much cooler than the pm ones.
At least the pref parties are not too early (they start at 11:30). I hate the idea of an early morning pref party. :) |
Good luck to all of the ladies participating in rush! I will be moving to Auburn this summer and can't wait to observe the "show"!

The name of that store is Wrapsody. It's one of my very favorite places in Auburn!
Good luck to all of the moms! Keep your phones handy, I spent a lot of time that week checking for text messages. As far as bid day, it's fun but you really only get to spend about an hour with your daughter in the chapter room. I think all of the chapters will assign a bid day buddy to each new pledge, so girls without family won't really feel left out. Also each chapter provides a really nice goodie bag for the pledges so they will have lots of swag even if you don't send something. I can't believe this is my daughter's last formal recruitment as an active! |

Also if you can't be there on Bid Day but you want to get your daughter a Bid Day gift, several of the boutiques in Auburn will put together baskets to be delivered to your daughter on Bid Day. They usually advertise in the Recruitment handbook and can be pre-ordered. They take a copy of the Bid List to make sure each new member is matched with the right swag on Bid Day. |
I've seen guidelines for the 7th-13th but what do girls usually wear on the 6th for orientation?
|
I, too, just sent a rec off for an Auburn-bound girl. She will be a great asset to the Greek community and I wish her the absolute best. As for it being something to see, one of my friends went down for her daughter's bid day in 2010 -- the FB pictures she posted were great! Looked to be quite the event. :)

Move-In is one month from today! Wow! As much as I think we have everything together and ready to go .... I can make a list of 50 more things to do or prepare! :0
|
Good luck! Maybe we are getting our ridiculously hot weather out of the way early. I doubt it....but one can dream!
This will be my daughter's first year on the other side. Her first year was great and she has made so many wonderful friends! |

I would recommend a rushee go into orientation dressed supercute casual for that event, just so she can feel as good about herself as possible, but not because she is actually being scrutinized. |

I think y'all are confusing two events for one: The night before rush starts is when you go meet your Pi Chi and everyone that is in your group and most people go in norts and t-shirts or regular shorts and tops. The morning that rush starts theres convocation for all of the PNMs and that's when the Pi Chi's and Panhallenic EXEC and the Presidents are all there. Thats the one that the girls should be dressed to the nine's with hair and makeup done because parties start 30 minutes late.
|
Three weeks from today we'll be in Auburn to move our daughter into her dorm bright and early (7 a.m.!) the following morning. And then she'll start rush.. Hoping and praying that she has a great recruitment and finds her perfect fit.
She is the baby of the family and it's hitting me harder than I ever dreamed it would. |
I am not going through recruitment again, but good luck to all Auburn PNMs! :) I don't know how many of you will keep up with this thread during recruitment, but if you find yourself without a bid then feel free to message me! I was not in a sorority, but I was incredibly involved during my freshman year and I would love to tell you how to get involved on campus if a GLO isn't an option for you!
|
Two weeks until Move-In Day.
|
like!
|
I wonder how many girls have signed up for recruitment at Auburn this year?
|
Auburn's Recruitment Handbook is now available online.
Also Panhellenic has announced this year's bid distribution location. https://fp.auburn.edu/greek/images/2012biddaysite.png |

I've looked, and can't find the definition of "bunch." Maybe more than a "few" but less than a "pile." |
Move in is one week from today.

War Eagle! |
Does anyone have any idea how many young ladies are participating?
|
Recruitment at Auburn is so close the entire week is within the 10-day weather forecast!
Temperatures look reasonable for August in Alabama with the highest daily high only at 91°, though it is still early and that could change. But it looks like a high probability for storms each day. |
I have a daughter going through recruitment next week at Auburn. I also have a daughter who is a member of a sorority at Auburn. The second daughter is of course interested in her sister's sorority but would also like to make her own choice. Just wondering how the other sororities view in-house legacies? Will it hurt her chances in other sororities?
|
Going through rush with sister in another sorority
It can hurt in other sororities. Or not. Or it can help if they want to show they can steal her. Or it might make no difference. She might want to have a pat answer, if asked, like, "I love my sister, but my aunt <probably not mother, SS teacher, next door neighbor> tells me I need to find the place where I fit."

There are 94 Pi Chis this year.
