Ugliest/Most Horrible Paraphenalia you've ever seen?

Does anyone have nominations for the ugliest/most horrible paraphenalia they've ever seen?

This can fall into many categories, from social fraternity letters with a teddy bear pattern on the cloth to one organization paraphenalia in the colors of a rival group to daisy dukes with the sorority crest over both buttocks...

NutBrnHair 02-14-2012 01:54 PM

I recall some black sheer pantyhose with rhinestone X and Horseshoe on the ankle. I thought it was pretty hideous. Not sure if anyone ever purchased them.

honeychile 02-14-2012 03:08 PM

Some of the Christopher Radko Christmas ornaments are the freakiest looking things I've ever seen! I could have wept when I saw Sir Fidele!

I know there's more - I don't have my tacky radar on yet today!

Senusret I 02-14-2012 04:11 PM

I don't like two-color line jackets.

Sciencewoman 02-14-2012 04:55 PM

^^^ Agreed. Plus, I just don't think that the satin look works for outerwear.

As for me, anything that combines Greek letters and underwear has to go.

As well as anything which puts Greek Letters on the butt.

Co-sign, a thousand times co-sign.

A lot of our Kappa Sigma stuff looks like Christmas :(

Those are probably the worst I've ever seen. I came in here specifically to post about those.

Another co-sign on the letters across the rear being a gazillion times tacky!

I'm embarrassed to say it, but I just came across a pair of Gamma Phi Beta "vintage sweat pants" (an adjective I never thought I would see used to describe sweat pants) for sale on Ebay. The seller states in caps: NOTE: THE LETTERS ARE ON THE BUTT, NOT THE FRONT! The seller also notes that there are some slight stains.

*sigh*

Butt letters... -barf-

33girl 02-15-2012 02:17 AM

From our 1970s scrapbooks...ringer t-shirts with a Superman "S" and an A on either side of it. These don't even get a "but it was the 70s" pass.

Those 2 color line jackets are just all sorts of bad. Like Michael Bivins discovered you and then told you you would have to sing at Denny's.

KillarneyRose 02-15-2012 09:09 AM

One of my sisters had all of the gold jewelry her ex bf had given her melted down and made into this MEGA lavaliere-looking thing.

It was delta and zeta stacked vertically and about four inches long. And she wore it on a heavy gold chain.

For the rest of the year, everyone called her RUN DZ.

Sciencewoman 02-15-2012 09:55 AM

^^^ I'm just picturing this and it sounds horrible. Didn't the new nickname give her second thoughts about her future as a jewelry designer? More to the point, did she wear it during recruitment?

Thank goodness, she (and the mega lavaliere) graduated at the end of that semester!

Well, that's a relief! Otherwise, an intervention may have been necessary during wardrobe checks!

PhoenixAzul 02-15-2012 12:21 PM

I'm going to sign on to the anti-butt letters committee. As a member of a two-letter sorority, it's just a no.

I think it's worse for a three-letter sorority. Umm, where exactly does that third letter wind up? Yes, disgusting.

^^^ me, too. Wonder if she has shown up to any alumnae events wearing it? Yikes!

NutBrnHair 02-15-2012 07:18 PM

THIS.

This charming outfit was being sold online as a "gameday" dress for $75.

Oh they're hideous! Theta's isn't quite so bad but there are some real homely ones. And keep in mind that these things are about 4 inches tall and cost $39 or so.

Here's Theta's:

Sad. But the poor Delta Zetas got possibly the most horrifying ornament I've ever seen.

No, you liked what was IN those shirts. They definitely accentuated those.

Sadly, it seems that Christopher Radko has not heard of ASA. This is one of those times when being in a smaller sorority is DA BOMB.

Because, as part of Delta Zeta's initiation, you have to spend 24 hours in an inner tube in the middle of the ocean somewhere. I think chapters in landlocked states are supposed to use the nearest lake.

:p

Seriously, those are some fugly ornaments. I shudder to think what AEPhi's ornament would look like.

AOII Angel 02-15-2012 10:18 PM

I have always hated that AOII panda ornament. It looks like an ugly boy, and that sweater makes it look fat, if a panda can look fat.

Is it bad that I interpreted the look in his eyes as either imminent murder or imminent molestation?

ETA: That was probably a really, really bad phrasing, but it just looks creepy to me. I'm also slightly loopy right now =/

naraht 02-15-2012 10:35 PM

That turtle is scary, though I still think the Panda is worse...

As best as I can tell, the nearest lake to Miami University where Delta Zeta was founded is Acton Lake about 5 miles north of town and it isn't until you get to the 9th chapter (U of Washington) that you get to a school whose chapter can properly use an ocean. :) :)

Note, there is actually a google hit for "Christopher Radko" and "Alpha Phi Omega", but fortunately it isn't Ornament related. (APO brother on LinkedIn.)

A latke with letters? I have no clue...but it makes me grateful that I don't have a tree!
