Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket Joe Paterno's Funeral
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports...ernos-funeral/
Not much else needs to be said. One error in the article: Margie Phelps is one of Fred Phelps' daughters, not his wife. |
Folks keep giving them attention...
|
Those tweets by Margie Phelps were sick. And yet, laughable.
|
I keep seeing them on the news, and I keep on thinking, "Couldn't they have taken up knitting or something?" I mean, at least knitting's constructive.
|
Meh they are just doing this because it will be a very high profile funeral, even without the controversy.

They are very hypocritical. They claim they are prophets of God and do everything the Bible says. However, there are SEVERAL verses in the Bible that they willingly ignore/violate: Proverbs 24:17-18, Ezekiel 18:32 and Proverbs 17:5, just to name a few.

It's a good thing I'm in Virginia or I'd probably get into a fight :-/

Who cares? I don't care, neither should you...

I saw this headline and thought of course they are. High profile funeral = media attention.
State College, PA could learn a thing or two from Brandon, MS. |

Fight can have many meanings...other then just the physical "fight".. but you knew that.
|
No, this is one of many instances where I can read your posts but not your mind.
|
As strange as this may sound, I think I would take it as a complement if the WBC crazies decided to picket my funeral.
Although I do agree that people deserve the right to mourn in peace. |
I just wish the media would completely ignore them....

Why would the media ignore them when people still get angry with them to the point of wanting to physically, verbally, or legally fight them?

Westboro Baptist "Church" isn't really a church, it's a family law firm, and what they "pray" for is that someone will assault them or violate their rights so that they can sue the hell out of them.
They are about as much of a church as my book club is. (And isn't there a billy goat somewhere expecting Dr. Phil under the neighborhood bridge?) |

This reminds me of the "if it was MEEEE, I woulda whooped that ass!" tirades that folks go on after notorious events. 1. No, you wouldn't 2. That's exactly what they want you to do Come on, now  |

Just wanted to update that they weren't there at the memorial service. Apparently they'd been there around the time of the viewing/funeral, but from what I can tell people ignored them. Good move, IMO.
|
I think picketing a funeral is the ultimate in poor taste.
