Sorority Jewelry
Is there a place to buy high quality sorority jewelry?
Thanks. |
I thought you weren't Greek? Are you buying for someone else?

If you received a bid, why not ask your new sisters? There may be an authorized vendor that you have to purchase from.

If you've joined an NPC organization then you will find the name of (and most likely a link to) an authorized vendor of jewelry on the organization's website.
|
So, tell us what happened, potential_greek. Did it go the way you thought?

FWIW if you are a Kappa Alpha Theta, I can recommend a lovely kite design necklace that's done in both sterling and 14K gold. I believe there's also an ARROW and an OWL (for Pi Beta Phi, Chi Omega and Kappa Kappa Gamma). |
There are also rules and traditions about when a new member can own and wear letters as well as traditions about gift giving. This varies between sororities and chapters within sororities. You should wait until long after the ink on your bid has dried before you begin ordering items and judging your new sisters on their jewelry choices.

Dogeared is doing sorority sister jewelry that is really cute in god and silver. Find the stuff here http://www.dogeared.com/tags/necklac...isters-forever

It didn't go exactly as I anticipated, but ended up as good, if not better. I am planning on typing out the story sometime, but have been pretty busy :)
I should have clarified, I'm not going out and buying something right now, just looking/getting an idea of a piece of jewelry I may like after being initiated. I'm not judging my sisters by their jewelry either. There's lots that I've seen in silver, but I prefer gold so that is what I was looking for. I did not intend to sound judgmental. Thank you all for your responses! |

And they directed me to the store that is available through the national site. There is nothing along the lines of what I'm looking for. You seem to be pretty judgmental to me. I've tried to patiently and humbly sit back while you ridicule me, but this is ridiculous. Any time I ask a simple question I'm basically attacked. I have no idea what I have done to deserve this. If you all don't want new members on here, just say that. I thought that was part of what this site was for, but I was obviously mistaken. Have a great day. |

If you don't like sterling and prefer gold, say that. Don't say your sisters have cheap jewelry and thus cheap taste. I have a feeling your new member period is going to be very interesting. |

Gold vs. silver: matter of personal taste. |

Just kidding. But I do prefer and wear almost exclusively white gold except my badge and my grandmother's jewelry. |

All of my jewelry is wooden, beaded, and/or the silvers (including diamonds). |
What is wrong with all of you?
Yes, I got a bid. And I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this sisterhood. I've seen how great it's been for others and that's what I want. I did not mean that they have cheap taste at all! It's just easier to find sterling silver jewelry with sorority letters than to find something more expensive. A family member of mine told me to find a nice piece of jewelry for her to get me when I'm initiated, so I figured I would ask here if people knew of anywhere to find something. I have asked a few questions here, never being judgmental, but you all must have this belief that every new member is an arrogant bitch because you respond to me as if that's what I am. I have not done anything to offend any of you so I don't know what the reason is. And I did not come on here announcing "I GOT A BID" because I figured no one would care and it's not really anyone else's business. I came asking about jewelry, which somehow translates to stuck up brat to you all. |

If you had just asked about where to get jewelry without adding a statement about your sisters' jewelry looking cheap-ish, you wouldn't have gotten some of the responses you've gotten. |

OP: Have you ever considered that some of the women in your sorority wear the "cheap stuff" because they don't want to keep expensive jewelry on campus for fear of theft? Or, they prefer the color silver over gold? (I prefer silver over gold because I'm very pale, and yellow gold looks awful against my skin.) Or, perhaps they're paying their own way through school and really can't afford your oh-so-precious high-end jewelry? The logic train left you high and dry on the platform. |
I don't know if this is an option for you, but sometimes if you go to local jewelry stores, they can customize pieces. :)
|
Face it, OP... Ever since you started posting on GC, you have asked inappropriate questions, made offfensive statements and assumptions. You have had to apologize in virtually every thread.
Now you ask about buying sorority jewelry and letters without ever letting us know that you have EARNED them. Until you quit behaving badly, no one here is going to feel much like cutting you any slack. No more flouncing. It isn't pretty. |

Dr. Phil, you are too cool. |
It's just extremely limited in its choices.
