Downton Abbey, Season II

Sunday the 8th, PBS, Two hour premiere.

All reviews are outstanding. Who else watches?

Proverbs31 01-07-2012 11:25 PM

I absolutely love this series and will be tuning in tomorrow night. My favorites are Matthew and Mary. :-)

tootiepie2 01-07-2012 11:48 PM

Love it!!!!! So ready for it to start back.

dukedg 01-08-2012 01:05 AM

Yes! I just watched Season 1 again on Netflix (streaming instantly) because I had forgotten such much. Looking forward to Season 2.

SWTXBelle 01-08-2012 06:35 AM

I love this show past reason.

Also - MAGGIE SMITH!!

DSTRen13 01-08-2012 08:24 AM

I'll be watching! I've read reviews saying Season II is good & reviews saying it's awful - if it's at least close to as good as Season I, I'll be happy :)

DolphinChicaDDD 01-08-2012 09:25 AM

yes!! i'm very excited for the premier. i even got The Boy into watching it last year. At first he asked me what "this crap" was and he pretended not to watch. When the end of season cliffhanger happened, he yelled out, "they can't stop now!" so needless to say, we're both anxiously awaiting season 2.

IndianaSigKap 01-08-2012 12:24 PM

I caught one episode of season one on Christmas night. I loved it. I may DVR this season until I can watch all of season one.

fascination 01-08-2012 12:47 PM

The local PBS station in my small city was selected to host a preview showing of the Season II, Episode I yesterday at our old restored movie theatre downtown. About 500 people attended, some in period attire. It was wonderful. You will not be disappointed when you watch tonight.

SydneyK 01-08-2012 12:51 PM

I had never heard of this show until Friday's episode of Chuck. I just thought it was something they had made up for the show until I saw this thread.

SWTXBelle 01-08-2012 01:39 PM

My only concern: World War I is never a good thing for the young men of England.

barbino 01-08-2012 04:28 PM

I was a big fan last year, and have been waiting for this season. I love British shows.

amIblue? 01-08-2012 06:58 PM

I can't wait!

AGDCanada11 01-09-2012 01:23 AM

Season 2 of Downton Abbey is amazing! Since it aired in the fall in the UK, the whole season is actually available to watch online already. Hope you all enjoyed the premiere tonight!

AZTheta 01-06-2013 11:24 PM

*bump* Season 3 on now. Twenty minutes in and I'm already "wow".

Sciencewoman 01-07-2013 12:16 AM

Even my husband watched for the first hour and a half, and he didn't even tell me to turn it off when he decided to go to sleep (which he always does when he knows I'm DVRing it). Perhaps there's some hope that I can get him to love British period dramas yet! Well, no, probably not. But I can dream.

Tulip86 01-07-2013 12:19 AM

I'm addicted to this show. Eagerly awaiting season 4.

ms_gwyn 01-07-2013 01:30 PM

This season is awesome....I have seen them all already (Season 3)....I need to watch them again!

AZTheta 01-07-2013 01:31 PM

I'm late to the game, but really happy to finally understand what all the talk is about!

WCsweet<3 01-07-2013 02:54 PM

So I thought it would be on hulu since season 2 is on it. It isn't up yet. Does anyone know if/when it will be posted or somewhere I can watch it online? I already pay for netflix and hulu plus so free would be wonderful.

irishpipes 01-07-2013 04:59 PM

Try PBS online. They frequently change up what you can watch for free, and I've noticed that one day you can watch a current episode and the next day you can't. It's worth a try.

ETA: it is up on PBS Online

LOVE THIS SHOW!

Got hooked on this show went I was in San Diego taking care of my dad while my mom had to go out of town for a week. He and my mom told me about it and how much they enjoyed it, but they had missed a show or two, so I ordered both seasons on DVD and one day my dad and I stayed in our pj's all day and watched all of season one and most of season two. We finished up season two the next day. I brought the dvd's home and put one in on a night when nothing was on TV and hubby was immediately hooked. I watched all epsiodes again. When we finished watching the last episode (Christmas epsiode) in early December, he whined that he wasn't going to be able to wait till Season 3 began! We LOVE Downton Abbey!!! or Downtown Abbey as we both first called the show :o

PS That PBS special about the real castle that serves as Downton Abbey - eg Highclere Castle - was also very interesting!

Jill1228 01-08-2013 12:29 AM

Only way to watch Season 3 in one fell swoop is the BT it....most people *don't* want to do that...

I of course justify it by ordering the DVDs once they become available on January 29th (pre-ordered via Amazon)

If you google, "Watch [insert show name here]", the first few options usually work!

Sciencewoman 01-27-2013 11:39 PM

:( Tonight's episode was so sad.

Yeah it was. I just ordered season 3 through Amazon

adpiucf 01-28-2013 01:09 AM

Did not see that coming. Was watching with a friend who recently experienced same (thank goodness for modern medicine!) who had to leave the room.

WCsweet<3 01-28-2013 02:42 AM

Even though I knew it was coming, it was still hard to watch.

ggforever 01-28-2013 10:35 AM

I was so hoping that it would not happen. Definitely a 3 tissue event. Now will Tom stay or go? Cannot wait until next week.

Sciencewoman 02-01-2013 05:41 PM

Love this Muppets spoof on "Upside Downton Abbey."

I just finished season 3. I hate Julian Fellowes.

Where'd you find the whole season?

ColdInCanada11 02-02-2013 07:41 AM

If you aren't opposed to illegal means, there are a few good streaming sites

amIblue? 02-02-2013 09:28 AM

The DVD arrived from amazon yesterday.

AGDLynn 02-02-2013 10:00 AM

Only watched it about 3 times so I realized it was DownTON than DownTOWN yesterday.

AXOrushadvisor 02-02-2013 11:12 AM

I thought last Sunday's episode was the best! Poor Mr Bates, I fear, is destined for a longer jail stay. I like that character! Tom, poor Tom. I hope he leaves and leaves the baby at Downton! I guess I didn't realize that Sybil was the baby AND much older then I thought at 24. What do they do all day? I'd be bored!

amIblue? 02-02-2013 11:24 AM

I don't even know if I want to watch season 4. I wouldn't be bored with that life; I'd be exhausted with all the clothing changes.

ms_gwyn 02-02-2013 02:55 PM

dang cliff hangers, I can't wait for Season 4....yes, I saw the entirely of Season III back in December, but I also let one of my co-workers borrow my dvds so she could finish sooner.

(More surprises are in store!)
