Please excuse the potential ignorance that is about to come out of my mouth...would this be a colonization of two separate chapters?
|
2 separate chapters???
It is about 1 hour and 15 minutes between campuses so I'm guessing 2 chapters. Given how difficult it is to get members together when they are on the same campus, I would hope so! But then, I've never been there, lol. ;) |
The official announcement came out today. Two different chapters:
Alpha Gamma Delta is pleased to announce it will be colonizing at St. Joseph’s College in New York. Alpha Gamma Delta will begin colonization activities in February 2012. St. Joseph’s College has two campuses—Brooklyn and Long Island. When installed, two separate collegiate chapters of Alpha Gamma Delta will be added to our chapter roll. Both campuses have an energetic, dedicated group of local women who are interested in assimilating into an international organization. Specifically, the Long Island campus has grown from a group of 15 to 85 interested women in a matter of six months. The Brooklyn campus has nearly 40 interested women. When installed, Alpha Gamma Delta will be the only National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) group on each campus. “Alpha Gamma Delta has a unique opportunity to connect these groups of dedicated, values-based women to the leadership and personal development experience of our international sisterhood,” said Liz Harriss York, International Vice President-Extension. “We have been talking with women from each interest group and have been impressed with their drive and passion for the values and high expectations that our Founders set forth for our Fraternity.” St. Joseph’s College is a private institution located in one of the nation’s most diversified academic and cultural areas. St. Joseph’s educates over 5,000 undergraduates, with more than 1,000 on the Brooklyn campus and close to 4,000 on the Long Island campus. The university offers more than 23 undergraduate majors, pre-professional and certificate programs. |

Could start a trend! :D |
We are also the only NPC at Roosevelt.

A little birdie told me that we'll be presenting at the University of Arkansas!
AND our presentation at Georgia Southern is TOMORROW! |
Yes, Liz has the U of A presentation in her status on FB. Good times :)
|
sorry for the swerve but are you aware of any other sororities presenting? I had a scenario in my head of what would happen at U of A and I'm wondering if I'm right.
And best of luck to you! |
I would have loved to go to the Ga. Southern one but Panhellenic didn't want alumnae to come.
Darn, and I was actually in that part of the state this weekend! Oh well, hope it went super awesome! And YEA for Arkansas!:D |
Didn't want Alums! Are they crazy don't they know we live for things like this.
I have seen two presentations. One live and the recreation of Syracuse at convention. They were two very different events. Of course I would expect Alpha to be a big deal. But I must say, I was rather disappointed in the other one. Anybody ever been to more than one? If they were close in time period were they the same? (Taliored to the school of course) I would love to see some more. |

My experience with presentations was so long ago (1974-77) that those efforts would seem penny-ante compared to what they are today. (I traveled with a little pillow--red velveteen with yellow & green cording--that displayed Fraternity jewelry. Sheesh.)
|
Just saw that we were selected to colonize at App. (I won't bother trying to spell it, either ;) ) State in 2014!
And hooray for Delta Eta at SDSU! I know an alumna from that chapter who must be thrilled! Collective fingers crossed now for Delta Epsilon at UCLA! We just have to have UCLA with USC...we just have to! :D |

Today is Initiation Day and Chartering for our new St. Joseph College chapters! :D

Wonderful! Were these two chapters originally local sororities or just interest groups? |
They were not prior groups. I guess you could say they were made from "the git-go".
