Halloween 2011~ What are you this year?

So, now that the ghouls and ghosts are running rampant in the city, I've been pondering what to be this year.

What are you?

My boys are being Jawas - with glowing red eyes, of course.

My eldest daughter is being Janet Snakebite - a rich widow with a terrible secret.

For super hero day at the high school at which I teach dual credit courses, I was Grammar Girl, saving the world from poor English. On facebook, I am Wonder Woman. I wonder where I put my keys; I wonder where I put my purse; I wonder where the money went.

My son is going to be a pirate. My daughter, for the first time, is not dressing up or trick-or-treating. She said "I figure any money I would spend on a costume would be better spent on clothes for my senior pictures next weekend."

I have a great costume idea for a group though. Easy and simple. Everybody wears white t-shirts and jeans. They are "The Plain White T's"

A place around us had a theme of "Fear or Fag" for Halloween. A few of us were not happy with the language of the theme...so 3 of us dressed up like cigarettes (fags, if you are British) and one person walked around with a sign that had posters from my science labs about the dangers of smoking (fear). It was actually a pretty big hit.

Not sure if I'm going out cause I'm still sick, but if I do I'm being Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. Blazer, jeans, gym shoes, my glasses and make my hair messy-curly and I'm set.

It also helps that I've been told that I remind quite a few people of the character. I'll try to work in Lemonisms such as "NERDS!" and "blerg" and "I want to go to there". :)

It's my birthday so we are going to Chattanooga for a few days.

I doubt I will dress up costume-wise except for the cute small red witch's hat on a headband complete with sparkly black spider.;)and wear black top/pants.

I am going as a pink crayon & hubby is going as a jail bird.

Next year we hope to start the tradition on a "couples" theme.

For my party today, I am just wearing a gold skeleton mask.

On Monday at work, I will represent the lollipop guild.

victoriana 10-29-2011 07:30 PM

For trick or treating on Monday, I'm going to be a princess with a tutu. For tonight I'm not sure if I should be a sexy leopard or a hipster... so many choices.

Recycling my costume from last year, since I'm going to a different party: putting on my cutest dress, doing killer makeup, tying a big spoon around my neck, and voila! I'm the dish that ran away with the spoon!

The best part is that it involves stuff I already own, AND regular clothes. I don't do costumes that involve elaborate ensembles in which I can't sit, drive, eat, use the bathroom, etc.

I was a drill srgt and Mr. KDR was a doormat.

It's an inside joke between my sister and I--from a fight we had.

Nobody understood our costume. Everyone thought I was going on a safari.

This. Eating bacon all day.

The only party I went to was on Friday. Fiance dressed up as Polamalu, so I wore my Polamalu jersey too, along with fox ears and a tail to be his "foxy wife." Everyone loved it :)

CougADPi 10-30-2011 08:14 PM

My son is a skeleton. I'm a referee and my husb is wearing his football jersey (not sure if it will be the WSU one or the Seahawks...he's not big on dressing up). Should be fun!

WCsweet<3 10-30-2011 08:40 PM

Friday I was person from the 60s. Basically a shift dress, with super straight hair, pale face/lips and dark dark eyes.

Tomorrow I'm a cheeta if I can find ears and a tail.

CeCe Newbie 10-31-2011 03:03 PM

I'm throwing on a bedsheet toga and dressing as Aphrodite.

Given that my in-laws (including grandmother-in-law) have no power and are therefore crashing with us tonight, I will probably be a basket case.

clarinette 10-31-2011 04:17 PM

I'm sorry, aephi_alum, but I lol'ed.

I'm going to SAI choir as a combo of a demon and a zombie. I'll try not to freak my sisters out like I did on Saturday. :)

Home from Trick or Treating with the kids. Now time for some Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea and a few pilfered Reeses Cups.

BraveMaroon 10-31-2011 09:03 PM

For our office dress up today I went as a turkey vulture - kind of an in-joke because they're constantly circling our building. One of my friends came as roadkill - he has a full-sized bunny suit with the big head and all, and he modified that. Although we didn't plan it -we entered the contest together and won best duo!

aephi alum 10-31-2011 10:27 PM

Fortunately, my in-laws and GMIL got their power back at both their homes in NY, so they are at their own homes and not mine.

I didn't bother dressing up, which is just as well, as we got no trick-or-treaters. :(

VandalSquirrel 10-31-2011 10:58 PM

My nephew dressed up as R2-D2, he's a pretty cool five year old.

I didn't dress up this year, but if I had known the IT guy was going to wear a costume I would have worn one, perhaps break out my Wu-Tang Killa Beez ensemble. Sadly a single Killa Bee cannot swarm so it is probably for the best that no one tried my Wu-Tang Style as I would have had to bring da ruckus.
