Re-Rushing Next Year
Hi,
I placed a bid on ABC but it wasn't a good fit there are only three npc's on campus and im alot older and a junior, my campus doesn't care if i rush as a senior. I regretted turning down XYZ. However, i am considering rushing again next year or trying to rush as an alum instead as the women would be more of my age and background, (im 24). I really did enjoy the experience i just felt that the chapter i joined wasnt the right fit for either of us and have subsequently de-pledged. I would love some thoughts on this Thanks |

2. You cannot "rush as an alum". 3. Your campus can't care - it's not a person with feelings. And true, no one can stop you from rushing as a senior, but they also cannot guarantee that it won't be a big, fat waste of time. |

Holy crap, child. If you can't handle our comments and feel the need to report them, you're going to have a tough life ahead of you.

I know it could be a waste of time, i was just wanting to know if it was better to become an Alum or go through as a collegiate. XYZ does offer this.

Even though this org may offer Alumna Initiation, it is no easy road to get there. It is much more difficult to join an organization via AI than as a collegiate for NPC groups. You are talking about NPC groups, right? Do you know the difference? |
Ok, Thanks. I guess i can spend this year just getting to know people.

Some questions for you:
By "place a bid on ABC" do you mean you got a bid from them and YOU didn't think they were a fit for you or do you mean you ranked them on your pref card and they didn't give you a bid? As for "turning down XYZ", do you mean you received a bid from them or you didn't put them on your pref card? What are your expectations for membership if you join as a collegian? What about joining as an alumna? |

Your odds of getting a bid as a senior are dim, and of getting a bid as an alumna dimmer still. No one will stop you from trying, however. |

If she dislikes her chapter, her sisters and her sorority experience THAT much, it's very unlikely she'll get involved as an alum, unless she is lucky enough to land in an alumnae chapter that is willing to listen to her bitch about her collegiate chapter, her sisters, and her sorority experience. At smaller schools with smaller chapters, not everyone can find a niche in every group. That's just the way it is. If she was that miserable, she was right to depledge. "Stick it out for two years" is something you should say about trying times at your job, not your sorority. |
With the number of errors in her original post, I'm wondering how long she stuck it out, or how far into the rushing or pledging process she got, or if it is in fact NPC. There are chapters who would give a senior a shot, so I wouldn't necessarily tell her it's a deal-breaker because of that.
BUT if she did go all the way through the rush process, was cut by 2 sororities and got a bid from the low house on the totem pole, accepted it, pledged and de-pledged, her chances of getting a bid next time are virtually nil. And that would be regardless of how much college she has left. And maybe it's unfair because some people just can't write in this format, but the writing here was atrocious. I'm wondering if that is reflected in her grades. If so, we all know the chances of getting your GPA to NPC standards in your junior year (if they're not already) is pretty unlikely. OP, if you'd like to tell WAY more of your story, we might be able to give you some valid and/or happy advice, but the story as we've interpreted it doesn't look good for your chances at sorority membership. |

Hi, Sorry im actually really dyslexic. My GPA is very good and well above the minimum required.
I pledged ABC. In fact i liked abc, the girls are lovely, but i was accused of something i didn't do and as a NM i didnt have a leg to stand on and they chose for me to leave two weeks prior to initiation. I have friends in the other NPC's. I was over time finding that i didnt fit and had expressed concerns to my NM educator. I was disappointed but at the same time i was ok about it. i would have however gone through the whole thing and have been very active. I was the only NM out of my class to turn up to everything, even NPC meetings The XYZ was the one i preffed second but I had a really hard time choosing between the two they are both fantastic. Its a Year away before i can do this again due to NPC rules. My friends in the other two NPC's are asking me to rush them. I like the Greek life and would make a good member either as an alum or not and would be an active participant. I would not bash ABC even though i know in the long run it was the right decision for me, although i find it strange for the girls in ABC asking me to continue to spend time with them. Anyway, i hope that helps |

Oh I forgot to mention that ABC has the highest GPA requirements, it is also the largest.

If you have friends inviting you into their sorority, I'd take them up on it.
