What do you listen to?
I haven't been on here in a minute, but I was sitting at my desk listening to some tunes, and I began to wonder what some of y'all listen to. Not necessarily as in 'listen to everything' like a lot of folks my age would say, but more of what is your favorite kind of music. When you get in your car or when you're at home, what's generally the kind of music you play?
I'm into new and old school rap artists. From BIG to 50 cent. I'll post some youtubes of what I listen to after I see what Greek Chat likes. |
Last.fm made this so easy.
I'm into ska, pop punk, hardcore, power metal and electronic, including: Streetlight Manifesto, Bomb The Music Industry!, Between The Buried And Me, A Day To Remember, Big D and the Kids Table, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Sum 41, The Black Dahlia Murder, Reel Big Fish, Winds Of Plague, Protest The Hero, The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, Michael Henry and Justin Robinett, OC Times, Owl City, Rise Against, Less Than Jake, Fight Fair, Children Of Bodom, ELLEGARDEN, NOFX, Job For A Cowboy, van Canto, Avenged Sevenfold, August Burns Red, fun., Casey Jones, Versailles, The Seatbelts, Galneryus, Born of Osiris, My Chemical Romance, Explosions In The Sky, Daft Punk, Basshunter, Talco, Dethklok, Chase Coy, Jason Derülo, ReinXeed, We Are The Union, Attack Attack!, White Noise, ItaloBrothers, Four Year Strong, Iyaz, The Summer Set, The Flaming Tsunamis. I listen to everything. If it sounds good, I'll listen to it. But it's mainly 80s, especially Journey, Madonna, and Duran Duran. He's not 80s but I like Justin Timberlake a lot, too.

I like a-lot-o-stuff including: Most forms of House, Electronica, Pre-1990 R&B, Pre-1992ish Rap/Hip Hop, lot's of international music, a few genres of Country, Blues, some Bluegrass and some other cool stuff. :)
|
Mostly hip hop, with some other stuff mixed in there too (The White Stripes, Adele, some R&B.)
|
My music interests are mostly Jazz Flavors with a mix of R&B like Gary Taylor. Examples of what I generally enjoy.

I totally left my heart back in the 90s. I'm really big on pop/R&B/hip hop from 1985-1995. I like nearly everything except country (and I even have a few exceptions there) so I've got classical, old school R&B, opera/classical voice, gospel and contemporary Christian, rap, etc. I've just recently (in the last couple of years) started getting into Broadway.
ETA: I found this tonight and thought it was a pretty cool fuse of then and now. Shanice ("I Love Your Smile") singing "If I Were a Boy." She starts off super soft (even a little boring) then WHAM out of nowhere kills it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a5U-XqBtFw But it gets better :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4KF5...Upw&lf=mh_lolz And even better :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2-PW...Upw&lf=mh_lolz |

You probably have heard some at some point and just not realized what it was since there are several different genres within. |
I know, I know.. the OP hates the fact that anyone says it, but I truly listen to everything. My being a musician might have something to do with it. I really do appreciate all kinds of music, and I listen to anything that sounds good.
I like older music, newer music, and everything in between. I like rock, rap, hip hop, punk, pop, metal, jazz, country, etc. I will say that in my iPod, I have an abundance of music from the 90s... Nirvana, Green Day, Sister Hazel, Dave Matthews Band, Blink 182, Alanis Morissette, Days of the New, Pearl Jam, Fiona Apple, Eve 6, The Goo Goo Dolls, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. And my favorite band of all time is Third Eye Blind. Between the lyrics, the sound of the music, and Stephan Jenkins' voice, I can't get enough of them. I'm not sure I could pick just one song of theirs to label my favorite, but a few of them are: "Wounded" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTKM4EEfb68 "I Want You" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puKWMnfO1RU "Blinded (When I See You)" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo0TXhF6U_A "Narcolepsy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9yFxAYDEvI "Deep Inside of You" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGGQcQ-rLmw |
