Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team on CMT
Fellow viewers, I know you are out there!!!! Come on in and chat about the show.
I just caught up on last season and noticed they seemed to have completely edited out any of Jay's fitness training. I wonder why? I know they marketed and sold several workout DVDs with Jay (I own one.) Maybe there was a branding conflict? Also...Megan Flaherty...I agree with everything she said to Judy and Kelli. Why even invite her back? |
I love watching the show. Can't wait forthe new season.
I also agree with what Megan F. told them. |
Does CMT put the episodes online?
|
I think they do, Look here for past season.
I was thinking about this show last night.... The new season starts on October 20th! it reminds me of my dancing (and much smaller) days |
I didn't realize this show was coming back for another season! Yea!!! A definite guilty pleasure.

Love watching this crazy mess! How tiny can the uniforms go! Love it!
|
She made training camp 3 times, total. I think she improved a lot the last time, and I've always thought she was a pretty, sweet girl. They rode her really hard for every little thing, each time she was in TC.
The episodes are online, but the CMT website gets on my nerves because they keep playing the same 2 or 3 commercials (sometimes back to back!) and they force you to watch them. Anyway- she basically said it wasn't fair to ask her back, that it was a waste of her time, and if they knew she didn't have what it took to make it all the way through, she'd rather have not been chosen for TC at all. Judy and Kelli were kind of shocked, but I don't understand why. Her time is valuable, too- and they know what they are looking for. If she is not it, why keep bringing her back!? The whole Season 5 is on iTunes for like 10 bucks. |
Woohoo!! KR and I are obsessed. She feels the need to do a background check on Kelly, Judy, and most of the cheerleaders (a.k.a. finding out what sorority they're in).
|
I feel like if you haven't made the cut after 3 times in training camp, there is something they don't like about you that probably isn't a fixable thing (ex: you can change your kick height, your weight, etc.) and you probably should just cut your losses and move on to something else.

LOL, I'll dish since I'm the one who did all the work :)
Kelli Finglass is an ADPi from TCU. Nicole Bulcher (Gorgeous! My fave) is a KKG from the University of Idaho Brittany Evans is a Tri Delt from Ole Miss Carey DePasquale is a Phi Mu from Auburn Sydney Durso is a ZTA from Texas Tech That's all I can remember right now :) |
KR, you rock! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...inkies/awe.gif

Call me crazy but the exacting perfection expected of these girls... I can't see any difference in "quality" once you get past the crazy audition portion. They are all fit and fabulous!
|
I am so excited about this show returning!
ADPi posted on their facebook page about it and Kelli. It was kind of nice them "confirming" what we ADPi's have been saying for years, that she is a sister. |

^^^However, the rest of the world doesn't wear 3-inch shorts to work. lol.
I've also heard them say that a girl was too THIN in the unform. So I don't think they want a stick figure out there either. I think it's funny when the girls are so appalled that they have to be fitted for *gasp* medium short. I mean, would you rather have them put you in a small and give you muffin top? |
Last season they didn't do the body fat analysis. Each year before, they did it in a different "state of the art" way. Irony being, on one season they told the girls that "10-15% is the desired range" and were aghast at one girl who was  16%.
Then on the next season, it's all about the body scan, and the girls should be "between 22-26%" and the doctor who read the scans is smiling at everyone who is at like 25%. This is the season where they told the girl she was underweight- but she was at 16%. Go figure. I just re-watched this earlier this week, because I remembered there being a huge discrepancy. I'm inclined to think the machines that read the girls around 13-15% were correct. If a DCC has 26% body fat, well...those shorts wouldn't look so great. Granted, 10-15% is low, but still can be healthy if the girl is an athlete who takes care of herself nutritionally. 26% is more heading to the unhealthy range. If they are going to give out information, they should be consistent. Can you imagine, being the girl who diets and exercises all year to be at 15%, now all of a sudden, she's too thin? ETA: Not that I'm THAT interested in the DCC's Body fat levels...it's just that 1) I'm a scientist and seeing that range of numbers makes me wonder what changed/question the accuracy of the readings and 2) I am pretty familiar with BF since measuring people's BF was part of my job in the military. |

One more day!
:D One more day fellow fans!!!! The first episode is always the best- it never ceases to amaze me how many people show up (and how many of them have to know they don't stand a chance! )
|
This show is one of my favorite guilty pleasures! I am enjoying this season very much! Quite a beautiful and talented group of hopefuls this season. Could Kelli Finglass be any prettier!!?? Love Judy too! Winter.. you started the thread....how are you liking this season so far?
|
I def like the fact that it's now an hour! Before there just wasn't enough show, with all the commercials.
Interesting to see Kalli back. She is one accomplished woman! I googled her one day and found her linked in profile. Still have to see yesterday's episode! |
Lov Kalli. Really hope she made it. I thought briefly about doing some research to see if she did, but decided against it. I like to pretend that it's happening in real time. (Probably strange.). No spoilers, please! I also really like one whose name I can't think of right now...maybe Bethany? She said that she was a Kittie Carter casualty last year. She comes across as very intelligent and poised.
Speaking of Kittie, did it look to anyone else like she was wearing a lavalier on this episode? I kept rewinding but couldn't decide. I even thought I might be able to make out the ADPi letters. I is unusual (in my experience, anyway) to see a woman of her age wearing one; maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me because of this thread! Also, I have a claim to fame (sort of!). My previous opthomologist's daughter, Abigail, was a DCC for about two years. I think she left last year. She wasn't ever on the show very much. Her mom had a bunch of her pictures out at her office, and I always loved looking at them. Very beautiful girl! |
Mackenzie (who was featured a bit in last night's episode) is a former KD consultant!
|
I cheated. I had to. I know who makes it and who doesn't, but in the interest of everyone, let's not disclose this information.
I'm so amazed at Sasha, she is such a good role model! From her blog it sounds like she did an Urban Teacher Residency program, which is what I'm trying to get into. She is also a stellar performer. I also like the tomboy girl, Taylor, she seems interesting. I'm not too impressed with the Australian girl. She seems kind of average to me. I had to agree w/Kitty on the tans! Too much! I literally LOLed when Kelli says "oh what an interesing prop" after Kitty made such an ordeal about the tree during the practice. That girl did a good job; I liked her solo a lot. I love how they spend more time focusing on the solos, those are always great to watch, and it's interesting to see that side of each girl- what she is good at, what she picks to perform. I can't say enough about the hour format- it's so much better. |
Oh yeah- and who doesn't know what party the President belongs to? Oh yeah, someone who doesn't know what a political party is!!!
That reminds me of..."What do you think of Condoleeza Rice running for President?" "I wish him well...I like our President (G.W. Bush at that time) but I know he has to give up his title..." Is this a pageant? Then, afterwards..."They asked me what I thought of Condoleeza Jones running for President...but she's not running for President?" She still didn't get it!!! There were a lot of incredibly intelligent ladies this year. Guess it offsets the idiots... |

Brittany Schram (since last year they actually had last names!) I love her. She is a total class act, and beautiful as well. She would be SUCH a great representative for them.
|
Who was the girl they cut for being too.... what's the word they used... "soft" maybe?
Oh my god that was crazy. Like, are you kidding me, she's not fat at all!!! |
I don't recall her name, but I know that her weight was an issue last season. It sucks because it seems like outside of her weight, Kelli and Julie seem to REALLY like her.
It also sucks because honestly, the weight she's at right now is most likely her "natural" weight. You know, the weight that is pretty much the lowest you're going to get no matter how many sit-ups, workouts, etc. And it seems like it was hard for her to even get to that. She just can't seem to get any smaller. Even if it's not the weight itself and just a tone issue, some people just don't tone up easily in the ab department. You can even be smaller than her and not very toned. Ex: I've always been small, but I have NEVER had a 6 pack and never will. lol. |

Seems to be a bit of a double standard with Liz and Stephanie, Brooke Sorensen's friend from FL. Stephanie had weight issues too, right up to the day they announced the squad, but she got a green light and made the team.
Granted, Liz was warned and knew what she had to do...but maybe that was her best effort? I've been watching the old episodes on hulu and a girl named Kandi was in a similar situation, she was still "soft" but she got the physical fitness award and won the triathalon. Some people can be in excellent shape, that's just how they look. This Kandi girl was a real standout too (she made the team but I beleive didn't make it back because of weight.) |
What I would give to look like any of these girls on the show, yet they are considered to "fat" for the uniform. Go frickin' figure.
Kelli, you my sister, but really this dumping girls who are "soft" doesn't help the body image issues women have in the first place. |
^Amen.
I still cringe over the time (I think in the second or third season) Jay said of a girl (who was, seriously, PURE MUSCLE), "I've never seen that fat of a cheerleader." Of course, the DCCs aren't really cheerleaders. |
^^^Your last point is the key. They're more of a dance team.
My mom has coached cheer for quite some time (competitive teams) and my understanding is that in actual cheerleading, you really don't WANT everyone to be teeny tiny, because someone has to be muscular enough to base the stunts. |
Quote:
They are dancers not cheerleaders, but who knows, they might have started out as cheerleaders and evolved into dancers. |
Last year I recall that many of the veterans were placed on "weight probation" in training camp because they were too "soft" when they reported to camp.
|
I enjoy this show but I can't help but cringe when I hear these women being berated for the strangest things. For example, Kitty made one girl take out her bellybutton ring. Another girl was criticized for being too tan.
I think the bottom line is that just about every single girl who shows up at tryouts could do a credible job as a DCC (not including the obviously delusional ones, but there don't ever seem to be more than a few of those). Kelli and Judy are just looking for the ones who are, in their eyes, "more perfect" than the others. When everyone is pretty much equal, you have to actively LOOK for flaws in order to get the numbers where they need to me. |
