Anxious about waiting
Hi everyone!
I am waiting on pins and needles to see if my daughter will be my sister:eek:;):)! I am a AOII Alumnae from USC(Nu Lambda), and my daughter is going through Formal Recruitment at Appalachian State University. I've been reading some of the posts here, while I wait, and it brought back fond memories! I'll let you know what happens...AOII or Phi Mu... |
it is hard to wait. good luck to you and your daughter. please let us know where she ends up.

I completely agree about Phi Mu! She started her freshman year at AppState last spring, and her roommate was a Phi Mu! (Very sweet girl!) Whichever way it goes is going to be perfect for her!
On the practical end, we have 3 more daughters who may rush in the near and distant future, and it would sure help to be able to recycle some stuff!!!:) I just didn't realize I would be the one with butterflies in my stomach! |
AOII!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW ECSTATIC THIS FEELS!!!!! My oldest daughter...an AOII...I never dreamed in a million years this would happen!!!!
|
Congratulations!
|
Wonderful news!
|
:DTHANK YOU!!! Thanks for keeping me occupied while I waited, too!

Here we are…11 years later when my oldest daughter went through Recruitment at AppState and pledged AOII.
(I forgot my password as MamaRubyRose, so I registered again as Macanoble) Now my youngest daughter is rushing at NC STATE. It was a last minute decision. No AOII chapter there, but she is having the time of her life! She made the last minute decision to rush, just for the experience of rushing, but now she is hoping to pledge. I am so excited for her! Recruitment began Friday 10 houses GET INVOLVED theme. Yesterday was the Philanthropy round, MAKE A DIFFERENCE, 8 houses max. She went to all 8! I never saw that coming! Without pressure on her, my older daughter and I are anxiously waiting to find out how many houses she goes back to this afternoon for the LIVE AND LEARN round, which is the academics/sisterhood/house tour round. |
So excited for her!
On the original topic…I recently met a mom AOPi from my college who now has two of her daughters as sisters- actives in her same chapter. I think that is so neat. |

Oh that's great! Welcome back! It looks like there are 12 chapters at NC State. One is a sorority for STEM majors. The other 11 are NPC chapters. You said she started with 10 chapters on the first day. In looking at one of our other threads here, Alpha Xi Delta apparently closed in 1989, but NC State Panhellenic has them on their website. I see from their advertisements that AXiD is recolonizing this fall! |
Yes! AXiD is recolonizing this fall! If your daughter doesn't find her home during Formal Recruitment, please tell her to check out AXID!!
|
Good luck to your youngest daughter at NCSU! Hope that she finds her home there.
|
Looking forward to hearing where she ends up!! My husband graduated from NCState.

My daughter wasn’t planning to rush since there is no AOII chapter there. My older daughter and I told her that they vary from campus to campus anyway, and it doesn’t hurt to at least experience recruitment. Since she was a spring admit, we were surprised when she decided to go through Fall Recruitment. We told her to just go with an open mind, and not listen to what others say or have said about each sorority, and truly listing your favorites regardless of what anyone else says. She is great at reading people, so I knew she would do just that! She did experience some of the meanness from some of the other PNMs, particularly when cuts started, but she brushed it off because she was determined to have the best time no matter what. As she recounted her experiences each day, my older daughter and I got excited for her, but we didn’t tell her that she was actually having a GREAT recruitment! She figured it out when she realized not everyone was going to every party each day. Today she is going to Preference at her 2 favorite houses, and she tells us she loves both, so she will be happy either way. |
You clearly raised a wise, mature young woman with strong coping skills. I hope she truly finds the perfect “people” for her—it sounds like she can’t go wrong. CONGRATS to mother AND daughter(s)!

My daughter is still in the same place after the Preference Round. Still loves both, and would be happy with either. She was just conflicted about which order to put them in.
So now we continue to wait until 7:00pm for BID NIGHT!!! In the meantime, if you are interested, here is how my daughter’s recruitment went at NC State: Round 1 GET INVOLVED (on Zoom) 10 out of 10…. Information about Alpha Xi Delta, then…. 1. Kappa Kappa Gamma 2. Pi Beta Phi 3. Sigma Kappa 4. Zeta Tau Alpha 5. Alpha Delta Pi 6. Chi Omega 7. Delta Gamma 8. Delta Zeta 9. Kappa Alpha Theta 10. Kappa Delta Round 2 MAKE A DIFFERENCE(Philanthropy) 8 out of 8(In person) 1.Sigma Kappa 2.Chi Omega 3.Kappa Delta 4.Kappa Kappa Gamma 5.Delta Zeta 6.Pi Beta Phi 7.Delta Gamma 8.Zeta Tau Alpha ROUND 3 Live ‘N Learn (Academics, Sisterhood, and House Tours) 5 out of 5 (In Person) 1. Delta Gamma 2. Kappa Kappa Gamma 3. Delta Zeta 4. Sigma Kappa 5. Zeta Tau Alpha Round 4 PREFERENCE (In Person) 1.Delta Zeta 2.Delta Gamma |
Macanoble-Thank you for sharing your daughter's experience. Glad to see that she has a very mature and balanced outlook about sorority recruitment. Hope that she has enjoyed her preference with DZ and DG. :)
|
Good luck to your daughter!
|
Wishing her all the best.
|
Okay, so she just called, SO EXCITED, and I couldn’t hear her because it was so loud!! If she had a clear favorite, I would know, but the call was over as quickly as it came, and now…. I’m still wondering!!!!
|
Text her - or check Instagram/TikTok
|
I’m sure she was celebrating, but she finally sent a text….
DELTA ZETA!!!!! |
Congrats daughter and mom! Bet you’re relieved to know she has a happy ending.

Congratulations to your daughter! This is a great group on this campus and it is awesome she had such a great recruitment after a last minute decision to participate. She must have had much to offer and I’m so glad she is thrilled with her results!
