The Amazing Race - Season 19
The cast list is up!
Included are Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca from Survivor (Ethan is one of my favorites from Survivor), two Olympic snowboarders, and Zac and Laurence Sunderland -- at 16, Zac became the youngest person to sail around the world alone. The premiere is September 25. |
Great. I was hoping to avoid getting sucked into this season of TAR, but if Ethan and Jenna are on there, that's not happening.
|
I just came here to post about Ethan and Jenna and voila, MC beat me to it. I loved Ethan on Survivor too. I will be rooting for them for sure!
|
I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but I actually sent in an audition packet. So basically, when I look at this list, I think "meh, I could race circles around any one of these people."
|
Cindy, engaged to Ernie, is a Chi Omega from Cincinnati!

*bump* tonight!

Can't wait for this season to start. My guilty pleasure! I love when they get a quasi-famous team to run!

Took only 10 minutes for disaster to strike? Should be an interesting season.

Such a short thread for this far in the season!
What a light-hearted episode last night. It was fun to watch the bunnies and the dancing. :) I'm pulling for Bill and Cathi. They're a great team, cute couple (even if her voice gets under my skin). I wouldn't be surprised, though, if the snowboarders win. What great attitudes those guys have! |

Meanwhile, I was more than happy to see Laurence and Zac exit -- especially Laurence. Thank you Bill and Cathi for making that possible. |
I just think of Cathi as a racing Kitty Foreman. Bill seems too nice to be Red, unfortunately, because that would be hilarious.
I'm not keen on the snowboarders after their comments about knowing who the "true god" is while at the Buddhist shrine in Thailand, but it was only the one time, unlike Laurence's self-praise and/or sexism, which occurred in just about every episode. |
Well, drat. Bill & Cathi out last week, and now Andy & Tommy are gone. :( If the final 3 teams' cabbies hadn't talked on the phone with each other - you know, telling each other where to go - I think the Snowboarders would've had a chance. Grrr. It felt like they cheated (although, the teams didn't seem to realize what was happening until it had already happened, so it's hard to consider it cheating, but still).
Pssht. Kicks dirt and huffs away. |

But yeah. :( Pulling for Marcus and Amani now. |
Taking a moment to brag a bit, I was at the horse races last weekend and it was a stop for the Amazing Race. We think it was AR Australia, but they couldn't even admit they were from Amazing Race, although it was painfully obvious. I have only seen bits and pieces of the American version of the show and never any episodes of any other country's, but I can tell you I'm rooting against those skanky blondes. HA! I have a feeling it was a pretty important episode. We only saw 4 teams, and they were 3 hours or so apart.

Word has it that TAR 20 came through Vancouver last week...I think some competitors were spotted at the airport. I'm surprised that no one ever captures them with their Smart Phones and posts it online (in North America, anyway....)
|
Well, I was disappointed for Marcus and Amani, though I guess I'd rather see Cindy and Ernie win than Jeremy and Sandy. Cindy did work my nerves some during the race, though. (Apparently we have her mom and dad to thank for her sometimes grating intensity.)
I did warm up to them some, though, when they said what they want to do with the money. And boy, did wife and I feel old when we watched the racers try to figure out how to type a "1" on an old typewriter. |

I tend to agree. And I had flashbacks to learning how to type on a manual machine. I also remembered the dear student who, when turning in his research paper, said "I hope you don't mind that I wrote out "World War Two" - my computer doesn't have Roman numerals." He was NOT kidding. |

I didn't think this season was as bad as TWP seems to have, though. One thing I really liked this season was how many of the clues had to be figured out. I also liked the way you had to keep your eyes open -- like the sign telling you to give all your money at the orphanage. |
