The producers picked up on the Basketball Wives vibe and EXAGGERATED it. I can see why Shaunie O'Neal is dismissing the LA Basketball Wives.

I'm still watching it, though. :p It's amusing and LaLa's Full Court Life (I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!) is on next.

LOL. I was happy when Malaysia physically went at the woman who said "just say it ghetto." You don't have to fuss and fight all of the time but EVERYONE has their limit. Get her, Malaysia.

Hot Mess! They start off fighting. I just can't understand why the wives (those who are really wives) would even want to be associated with the show after the original BW trainwreck; especially Tanya with the blonde locs. I would think she wouldn't want to be anywhere near that mess.

Also I think the girls mostly don't like Tanya because she always has advice for everyone and talks too much, not necessarily because she speaks "proper" English although that might be part of it for some of them. Doug Christie's wife (forget her name) was wrong for coming at her though.

I will watch for the hilarity of it all but this show will be another trainwreck. I can't understand why grown ass women (older women at that) would want to do such a show. Also, why did Laura (3 weeks post pregnancy and looking a mess not because she's bigger but because she doesn't know what to wear now) want to be on the show. You couldn't pay me to be on TV looking a mess but then you couldn't pay me to be on a reality show anyway. I'm too private and actually care about looking like a fool.

Malaysia IS ghetto fabulous though (not saying anything is wrong with that). Her name is not even really Malaysia...LOL!

Never thought I'd long for the regular basketball wives, but The LA Basketball Wives are just trying too hard.

Let's run it down:

Tanya, please give Iylana Van Sant (sp) her act back.

Why is Malaysia getting all the "hate?" A step above regular, she just looked and acted like a reformed hood rate from Compton. (and memo to her hood cousin with the tatoo plastered in between her already enormous breasts. As Evelyn would say: no, boo.)

The hefty girl that had just had a baby 3 months ago:
-first off, do not rock tight t-shirts until you get your body back
-your hormones have not returned to normal levels. No reason for you to go across the table at Malaysia.

Kimsha, if you are that HAM for New York, then go back to NY. I thought she was extremely course in her decorum and delivery..and that's saying something in this crew

Jackie, who appeared to be the oldest, was the most childest-acting. not a good look.

Now, Imani Showalter, acted about the same as the rest, but she is as beautiful as the day is long. She could get it.

If they can make a tivo that just alerts me when Imani is on-screen, I may watch. otherwise, it'll be hit and miss. (like it isn't 15 other things I need to be doing rather than wasting an hour watching this.)

Jackie Christie is a nut...but she's been crazy a long time. I can't believe these wives/boos and MOTHERS are on tv acting this way. They are doing the most. :(

The best way to stop them is for us to stop watching and therefore getting these shows canceled. In the meantime.....:p

Laura gave birth just 3 weeks (not months) ago in the episode. She must be desperate to be on TV because it wouldn't be me.

One word can describe the L.A. version of B-Ball wives: *In my Lionel Ritchie voice* OUTRAGIOUS!!!!!

Oh my Lord, ... it took me a minute, but I had to compose my thoughts about these women. They are all so complex ...

Did you see that, too?!?! That was friggin' hilarious. For one, I think Tanya is beautiful inside and out. Despite how they tried to clown her, she is the only one around there who didn't waste her time taking shots at others. She has the wisdom that the rest of these silly women are not interested in hearing. Why? Because they WANT to be ignorant heffas who keep up a lot of drama for the cameras. They don't want anyone to help them see things from a more loving perspective because they will become a show that is BORING. So, kudos to Tanya for being who she is. :)

I'm not so sure why most of them are hating on Malaysia. She's a cutie, but she looks vaguely familiar to me. I remember a girl on some talk show from years ago who proposed to a male stripper because she was madly in love with him, and he had no idea who she was. Why that was even in my mental roladex is beyond me, but I never forgot it and Malaysia looks just like that girl.

I remember Jackie from some OTHER reality show, where she was obsessed with her marriage or something. I can't remember what that show was, but I remember her being crazy as hell.

Gloria, ... ~sigh~ whatever.

And, for someone to have gained 84 pounds before their pregnancy, Laura looks darn good. But 3-weeks post pregnancy is still a bit too soon for her to be doing this show, in my opinion. She needs to continue recuperating.

Imani seems like a real sweetheart, but tends to sort of go in whatever direction the masses go in.

I'm particularly interested in seeing how things will play out with Draya, who looks just like one of those chicks that will break up your home. ~yikes~ This should be interesting.

And, what the hell kinda name is Kimsha??? I thought I only saw that kind of stuff down here in the south. :rolleyes: She seems so abrasive, and almost ... I don't know ... DRUNK when she does her little interview/confessions or whatever they call it. If she didn't want to be there, WHY IS SHE THERE?!?! :confused:

Oh, ... um, ... soooooooo ... THIS is Draya. :o Oh, my ... I had no idea this was the girlfriend of Chris Brown who was arrested earlier this year for endangering her child ... :confused:

Just finished watching this.

I agree with everyone else that these women are trying too hard. I know "drama" is par for the course, but some of these arguments were completely unnecessary.

That being said, I'll be watching this season :p

Any takers? I did not expect them to start this episode with the knock-down-drag-out between Laura and Malaysia. I still got tickled at Tanya just sitting there during the entire altercation, ... that is, until the cameras cut to her wiping her tears ... :( I think she was traumatized that these women could behave like this, ... just as WE are. She's such a genuine person. I felt so sorry for her that the rest of the women tried to gang up on her for not getting up to help. PLEASE!! Sometimes it doesn't help to get physically involved. I learned that lesson teaching middle school: When two kids start fighting, we're taught not to jump in and break them up, because we can be injured ourselves.

But I really admire and appreciate Malaysia and Laura for sitting down, talking it out, and making things peaceful between the two of them. They both apologized to one another, and that is something we don't ever see on reality TV after two people have come to blows. Thank God we can see human beings who can get passed the bullsh*t on nationally television. :)

I will say this though I think my idea of Tanya is biased by her 20/20 interview years ago when she and Jayson Williams were pleading about how it was the limo drivers fault he got shot.

So I understand where you are coming from, but seeing her on this just screams fake.

This show is so bad they had to start with the fight, to ensure holding viewership--because the personalities just don't do it.

Tanya still comes off as too "deep" to be real, but she was totally right on not getting in that fight. Two grown women in a restaurant fighting is dumb -- a 3rd grown woman getting involved would be even dumber.

The critcism by the others of Tanya's non involvement probably said more about their lack of perspective than it did about Tanya.

Malayasia's and Laura's peace summit was good and needed to occur, but Malaysia's sister still had a look like she was ready to move some furniture at a moment's notice. :o

I raved on here last week about how pretty Imani was. She got less and less so with me, the more she opened her mouth. Her perspectives, judgements and alot of her conclusions, particularly calling the girl "worthless" were pretty much the low point of the show -- unless you want to go back to the grown women scrapping right at the start.

Imani, please find your stride and let your inner thang start to match your outer thang.

Generally speaking, sure. In more detail, many of "us" are not shocked or traumatized that these or any women could behave like that. Many of "us" always knew women to defy gender norms and stereotypes and to be assertive, aggressive, and violent as men are expected to be (and men, mainly heterosexual men, who also defied gender norms). Girls and women fighting is nothing new or traumatizing to me. Education level, socioeconomic status, and other demographic factors can make such aggression shocking or traumatizing regardless of gender but even then many people (in general) have something they would fight over even if it doesn't make sense to everyone else.

On one end, it is liberating for some women to be able to do as these specific women do with no consideration to gender norms. Liberation includes the freedom to do what others consider good or bad. However, shows like Basketball Wives, Bad Girls Club, and Real Housewives wouldn't exist if being gossipy didn't conform to gender norms and stereotypes; and if cussing and fighting didn't surprise people coming from women. Women should have a place to display such aggression just as men have always had through media outlets such as video games and sports. I'm a video game and sports fan but these are predominantly boys and men creating and playing these games to both express creativity and aggression. People aren't as shocked and traumatized when men do it. That includes men fighting in public. Most people aren't so shocked when men fight, they may find it really really really dumb that a grown person is fighting, but they aren't so shocked that men are the ones doing it.

With that said, I really hate this show. I keep giving it a chance but I think it will last as long as Football Wives lasted.

Just going based on the show:

Tanya is boring as hell. It's almost as though she is trying too hard to be above and beyond reality. Any human who can't talk to other humans without constantly exuding "I'm better than you" needs a reality check and they will eventually get it because everyone meets their match or someone who thinks they are better than they are.

When Tanya said she was looking up "hoodrat" on Google because she didn't know what it was, I was like :rolleyes:. She certainly isn't the first or the last person around the world who doesn't know what it means. It's just the context and tone that makes me say "give it a rest, Tanya."

I'm surprised no one has jumped on this yet. All the more reason why she shouldn't have involved herself with that restaurant fight between Laura and Malaysia.

This show really sucks.

Draya has a gorgeous body. Basketball Wives LA won't last long but her photo shoot will probably have longterm benefit for her.

And yet, ... you can't look away. :p

You're right about Draya, though ... I think she's absolutely gorgeous. I really believe she is a good person, but she just makes bad decisions sometimes. It seems like the rest of the ladies are reeeeeally jealous and see her as a threat because of how attractive she is, so they were ecstatic to find ANY dirt on her. :mad: I haven't seen her do anything that was actually mean or malicious at all (that is, ... unless I'm proven wrong in the next episode).

I'm starting to like Malaysia alot more. I think she's been showing herself to be a little more noble when it comes to women appreciating one another, and not being catty just for the hell of it.

And my heart goes at to Jackie. :( She is showing tremendous strength, ... trying to be strong for her mother and sister. And Doug is such a sweetheart! :)

I notice we haven't seen Tanya for a coupla episodes. :( I hope we see more of her this episode. But, yeah, I gotta admit that this show is pretty bad, ... and yet, it's such a guilty pleasure. :D

Okay, am I the only one who watched the boxing match 2 episodes ago? Draya got her ass kicked. I have watched that episode twice because that scene was hilarious. LOL.

Draya's police report, etc.? They made Draya the Royce for this show. It's all so formulaic as is all fake reality television.

I know, right?! :mad: I felt sooooooooooooooooooo sorry for Draya during this episode. :( It merely looked like a bunch of broke down women picking on the pretty girl. She has done absolutely nothing to any of these women for them to be so scrutinizing of her! None of them have ANY right to call Draya a jump-off, because every single one of them were doing the exact same thing she was doing to land their men, too.

And I take back everything I said about Jackie in the previous post. I thought she showed tremendous strength during her mother's ailment, but something kept telling me that her tears (or the lack thereof) were for the camera only after watching her display with her daughter. I read the article about her daughter writing a "tell all" book about how insane Jackie, so I watched her very carefully when they showed her seeking counseling for her daughter who is "inexperienced" with boys. Why the hell did she start crying when she discovered that her daughter had merely KISSED a boy ... :confused: I knew then that she was acting, ... her display was so fake. UGH!!

I'm watching the new episode.

Gloria is a horrible actress. LOL.

lol. It'll be a while before Gloria step on the main stage. So far, the only highlights of the show has been Jackie's Bachlorette's (sp) party and the ladies playing match maker for Imani...In my opinion.

But by observing her demeanor during the launching of her kiddie jewelry party, you would've thought she grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth.

I now see why Tanya Williams has not been on Basketball Wives LA. She is busy sitting in the courtroom during the Conrad Murray trial and being the legal expert on HLN. She is a former attorney but, noncoincidentally, the caption under her name read "estranged wife of...Jayson Williams."

Okaaayyyyy, ... ~sigh~ this time, Jackie wasn't faking the tears when they showed the clip with her and her mother. I actually shed a few tears along with her. My heart goes out to her trying to be strong for her family. Right now, she has my sympathy, but I'm sure she'll do something else insane that will make me forget all that. But she really seemed genuine again. I couldn't imagine what she's going through right now, and maybe that's one of the reasons she keeps up all kinds of drama with "the girls" ... she needs something foolish just to occupy her mind from obsessing over her mom's condition these days. But if it were me, I'd much rather want to occupy my mind with positivity instead.

I gotta give it to Gloria, though, whom I've always assumed thought she was soooooooooooooo hard. At least whenever they decide to focus on her during the show, her mind is usually on bigger and better things, ... i.e., coaching girls basketball, fundraising for cancer research with her fiance, etc. She's using the reality show to showcase her willingness to give back in a sense. I think it's commendable.

I'm really surprised at Laura's behavior. No one trusts her these days. And, now, Draya is on Cloud 9. LOL!! I still think these women are jealous of her, but they're willing to ignore their envy for now since they've found a new target.

I read an article (I'll try to find that ) that both Tanya and Kimsha are no longer on the show because they felt the show was full of drama.

For starters, I wanna know who Gloria and Matt think they're fooling? While they're smiling for the cameras, everybody has known for a while that their relationship has been up in the air for months now. Gimme a break. :rolleyes:

By the way, I didn't realize how cute Jackie was until she was talking to Kimsha about all the drama. She actually is a very attractive lady.

And KIMSHA?!?! I mean, seriously?! Where did SHE come from? I noticed that they showed both Kimsha and Tanya during the introductory theme, so I assumed Tanya would be on the episode tonight as well. Well, she wasn't. By the way, just found out that Tanya is a SOROR!!! I knew there was a reason I liked her. :)

And I find it interesting that the "hood-est" girls of the entire group couldn't even stand up to Jackie at all when she went upside all their heads. I mean, ... come on, ... "Angry" Laura got into a FIST fight with "from Compton" Malaysia, but BOTH of them were trying to reason with Jackie. I know what you mean. It's like THIS show didn't have much purpose at all. The other show, we got a chance to really connect with ladies a little more because of their actual careers, what they did outside of being a basketball wife (or jumpoff).

And while there was also drama on the Miami wives' show, the LA show seemed PRIMARILY about drama, and that's about it. She said, she said, ... who said what ... I still watched, but I'll be honest that it doesn't hold much weight compared to the ORIGINAL Basketball Wives.

When does the premier of the original Basketball Wives start? I'm interested to know what Evelyn is up to. She actually came to my neck of the woods over the summer to make an appearance at some club. I didn't go, though ... :rolleyes:

HOLY BACK FAT!! :eek: Jackie should've NEVER held her arms up on the reunion show tonight. LOL!! That excess skin was just swingin' left to right. I'm sure she was sooooooooo embarrassed when she saw herself tonight. But then again, ... it's Jackie, so maybe not. :rolleyes:

And, I think Laura looked pretty with the 40's look she was going for (complete with Joan Crawford shoulder pads and all), but I could tell she had a girdle on that was KILLING her. I don't think she was very comfortable at all. LOLOL!!

I hate that Draya had to get ugly with Jackie, because that girl normally never loses her temper. But the fact that even SHE had to clown with Jackie shows me that Jackie just brings the worst out of EVERYBODY! That's just so sad. ~tsk, tsk~
