Yea, I know I could have posted this in Cool Sites but more folks will see it here.

There was a great article in the Atlanta paper today about a website called

It is hard for a lot of people to find people of similar interest...even if it is just to hang out for a couple of hours.

I looked at the website and there are some area ones that look interesting....already told my hubby about the local photography club!

I'll let you know if I join any and how they turn out!

I joined it when I moved back up to Portland since I moved half way through the school year. There are some really awesome groups. It's kinda weird meeting up at first, probably similar to a blind date.

You meet some great people. Usually the activities are fun. Tomorrow I'm going to a wine tasting with a few women I met through it.

Well, come on down to Atlanta!:D

ETA: I see you are in Dallas. There are some awesome AGDs there that I haven't seen in a long time...maybe I'll come there...someday, lol.

Someone at my apt complex was just telling my husband and I about it last night! We're going to look into it as we do want to meet more people here in the Atlanta area!!

I had heard about this about a year ago. It looked interesting, but I never tried it. I told my guy to check it out when he moved to his new town...but he seemed very hesitant.

yes, there are some awesome AGDs here. i made some good friends while in college with some. let me see if i still have my "alpha gam stud" t-shirt from way back lol.

@#! I thought this would be about another GC meetup in Atlanta.

I joined a meetup group when I first moved back home. Mine would go to movies every Friday night! Whoever came just came and it was nice for people like me who looooove movies but didn't have any company. Once I got settled in and made friends, I stopped attending, but I don't kinda miss it. Who knows, maybe I'll start again on Fridays my friends are busy.

/hijack I will be in Atlanta the last week in September and would love to meet up with GC people. /hijack

Dee, do you know where your meeting and/or hotel will be yet?

I'll be in north Atlanta, near Perimeter mall... between Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. I haven't picked a hotel yet. I'll probably book it after our next planning call (when I will book my flight as well).

I'm a member of a couple of local Meetup groups. My husband and I have met some great people to socialize with. My beer lovers' group actually met for dinner (and of course beer) this evening. It's a great way for people with similar interests to ... well, meet up.

I wish I went to Atlanta on business. I go to DFW very often (3 times in 6 weeks in August and September). Too bad no GC meetup there.

Speaking of the Meetup website, I'm on one of their distribution lists, but it's getting annoying. I get about 3 updates each day from them.

I looked at this site yesterday and saw that there was a meetup group for the outdoor concert that I was going to tonight anyway. I saw them (they had a distinctive item with them) and one of the people in the group was this VERY creepy looking guy who keeps sending me messages on PoF (which I don't respond to). Weird!

YEA!!! I was in that area yesterday! I called hubby to meet at a fav resturant b/c the interstate near our house had problems...of course, lol.

I joined a meet up group several years ago to get involved with the Kerry campaign. I made friends who will be with me for the rest of my life. I would definitely consider attending a meet up function again!

And if anyone's coming to Dubai, I'd love to meet for drinks. Just sayin...
