Carnation Nation at the Beach Recruitment Story!
My niece will be rushing at a medium-sized university this semester. I won't be starting her recruitment thread until September and I'm going to start it on Day 2 when she can return to up to 4 parties.
See, I'm embarrassed to admit that I had this idea for 4 code names I loved and I'll forget them if I don't record them now. :o Advanced age does that to you, haha. So for future reference, my niece (I'll call her Beachcomber) may be returning to: Sand Dollar Starfish Sea Glass Moonjellies ;) |
love the beach theme!
|
So we're back again!
On Day 2, Beachcomber did indeed return to Sand Dollar, Sea Glass, Starfish, and Moonjellies. She is rushing with her roommate, who is also returning to those 4. Sea Glass: really likes them. She had met several sisters in the past few weeks. Sand Dollar: likes them okay. Starfish: said this was a very odd situation. Her rusher had absolutely nothing to say so Beachcomber just sat and stared around the room for the rest of the party. Moonjellies: she is in love! She loved the girls, presentation, everything! She and Roomie found that they had ranked the sororities identically: Moonjellies Sea Glass Sand Dollar Starfish |
go beachcomber!
|
*wondering if you're going to say "Surf's Up!" if she gets a bid*
|
That is a very good idea! ;)
|
Yea can't wait to hear the rest of this story...
I love the Beach! |
All right. Day 3:
Beachcomber went to parties at Moonjellies, Sea Glass, and Sand Dollar. (So did Roomie!) They've been loving recruitment; they say it's overwhelming, nervewracking, and tiring but they love it! Moonjellies: she adores them. She loves what she's heard, she adores the girls she's met. Sea Glass: she really likes these girls too. She doesn't know as many but she likes the ones she's met! Sand Dollar: Beachcomber likes them but she has to rank the groups for prefs and she and her roommate ranked them: Moonjellies Sea Glass Sand Dollar |
So cool that she and Roomie are liking the same houses... maybe they'll end up together!!
|
That's been our hope. They've both been homesick.
|
Can't wait to see where they found there home! Go moonjellies!!! Hope the girls get to pledge together.
|
Wooooo hoo, another Carnation Nation story!
|
Pref Night!
Beachcomber and Roomie were thrilled to find out that they'd both been asked back to Moonjellies and Sea Glass. I didn't get a report from Roomie but Beachcomber said this: Sea Glass-"I had a great time and could see myself here." Moonjellies- "When we came up to the house and I saw all the sisters lined up in their ___ dresses, I knew this was where I wanted to be. Aunt Carnation, I love them!" Both girls ranked them: Moonjellies Sea Glass and I made sure to talk Panhellenically about being happy with your bid and so forth. I sensed that she would be happy in either group because she'd made some good friends but hoped that she'd get her first choice because for a girl who was unsure about rushing (she's grown up away from all her girl cousins), she had fallen for Moonjellies with a bang. |
I so hope they end up in the same chapter! One of them will be heartbroken if one ends up in Moonjellies and the other doesn't.
|
this sounds like the kind of package deal you do want - two fantastic girls

I can"t wait to hear the ending.... I hope they find themselves happy as "clams" on bid day....
|
SURF'S UP!!!!!
Beachcomber and Roomie are MOONJELLIES They are going to be receiving bouquets of: carnations-- white ones--- CHI OMEGA!!!!!! They are truly happy as clams and the Facebook pictures of them running to the Chi Os are hysterical! |
A happy ending for two!
|
yay!!
|
Tell them congrats!!!
|
Yayyy! Congrats to both!
|
Chi Omega x 2= Excellent News :)
|
Congratulations to both of them!
|
I'll pass on y'all's congratulations!
I knew that if she went to Chi O, they would have to be Moonjellies because this summer, we were at the beach and our Chi O "Ballerina" was sitting in the shallow water. This big wave came up--we saw this--and THREW a bunch of jellyfish at her! Can you say "walking on water"? Another classic family moment. Sea Glass was Sigma Kappa, a group that the 2 girls liked a lot! |
aww congrats to both girls!!! it'd be awesome to see the pictures you're talking about .. if you and the girls don't mind of course!!
yay for a happy ending! |
Another happy bid day for the Carnation Nation!
Best wishes to your niece and her friend. Thanks for sharing their story. |
Much happiness to Beachcomber & Roomie on becoming Moonjellies. I have enjoyed reading about their recruitment & I too would love to see some photo's.
|
Congratulations to the Beachcombers!
I really do hope you get your Pi Phi legacy some day, though! |
Great story and congratulations to your niece and CHI OMEGA!

Congratulations to Carnation niece and her roomie!!!!
|
Thanks, y'all! We're rolling about this one picture of Beachcomber dancing with the new members.
I am in serious doubt about that legacy...our high schoolers are all looking at Pi Phi-less universities, though they don't know it. I DO!!!!! |
Congrats to them both!!!
|
I love it when it works out how it is supposed to!
Welcome, girls, to the (white) Carnation (tied with cardinal and straw ribbon) Nation! |
@##@, Nut! It should read the (wine) Carnation (tied with wine and silver blue ribbons) Nation!
Seriously, Beachcomber and Roomie love Chi O and said it was the best decision they ever made! They went to their first new member meeting and got their notebooks the other day. And...after about 2 days, I saw that Beachcomber had added over 80 new friends to her Facebook--my brother swore that the new members must have stood out there in the field right after getting their bids and added FB information immediately! |
Congrats to the next generation of Carnation Nation finding their (homes...) accomodations? :D
|
I am so happy to say that Panhellenic's new director of recruitment for her school is...Beachcomber! Good luck, Beachcomber, and gird your loins for next fall!
|
Yay! Two more Chi O's! Sounds like the two girls found their home :)
