Your all-time favorite sitcom episodes
I stole this topic from another forum I frequent—here are some my faves (and yes, I'm dating myself with some of these :D) ...
I Love Lucy: Vitameatavegamin All in the Family: Edith causes a freak car accident with a can of cling peaches ... in heavy syrup Mary Tyler Moore: Chuckles the Clown's funeral—"A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants" The Golden Girls: The girls crash a high school reunion as Susan Armstrong, Cindy Lou Peeples, and Kim Fung Toy Designing Women: Anthony goes undercover as "Cindy Birdsong" to rescue the girls from a grueling wilderness weekend Roseanne: The weed episode Frasier: The ski weekend Absolutely Fabulous: "Fat," "Hospital," and "Poor" Curb Your Enthusiasm: An obituary has "beloved aunt" misprinted as "beloved c_nt" |
Quote:
Roseanne: Darlene reads her poem "The Brain-Dead Poets Society" episode. Dharma & Greg: "Dharma Drags Edward Out of Retirement" episode - Dharma gets Edward involved in an dotcom company that sells women's clothes. For men. To wear. Newsradio: Dave & Bill attempt to give up coffee and smoking. "What we need around here is an anti-whining ordinance!" Coupling: "Jane and the Truth Snake" - Sally's reaction to "Jake the Snake" |
Martin - Suspicious Minds. The 3rd act (Martin and his "dog") are hilarious. The others tried so hard not to laugh.
Golden Girls - The Case Of The Libertine Belle. The "Murder Mystery" episode. I crack up every time Dorothy demonstrates slitting a throat. King Of Queens - Pole Dancing Episode. Doug convinces Carrie to take a pole dancing class at the gym, but she ends up being terrible. Hearing how her father is affected and watching Doug pole dance = hilarious. Law and Order: SVU - 911 Episode. Olivia tries to find an abused young girl who is speaking on a dying cell phone that can't be traced. Amazing. This is all I can think of right now lol |
The Dick Van Dyke Show: Rob dreams Laura is an alien
A Different World: Dwayne and Whitley's wedding Living Single: TLC guest stars as the subjects of Overton's dreams The Cosby Show: Vanessa gets drunk for the first time and the whole family ends up taking "shots." Grey's Anatomy(not technically a sitcom but still): Gosh, you name it and I loved it. The bomb episode, the shooting, Meredith getting her appendix out...Meredith on morphine was epic. "It wasn't a date so much as a disasterously uncomfortable sexual experience.....Dr. Bailey, all my boyfriends are here!" :p |
Meant to include this one in my OP:
Everybody Loves Raymond: Marie takes up sculpture and makes something that looks like a large-scale rendering of the female nether regions. "Oh my God—I'm a lesbian!" |
Quote:
Ally McBeal: The Christmas episode when Larry sings, lets down his guard, and talks about his child... it makes me tear up a bit. Seinfeld: When George's wires get crossed with a girl named Donna Chang, his mom talks to her for a bit and is talked out of a divorce because she's Chinese, and, well, Chinese people are wise. They flip when they find out she's just a white Jewish girl from Queens that changed her name from something like Changstein. Modern Family: When Claire and Phil roleplay at a hotel bar. Fawlty Towers: The Germans. Father Ted: When they go on holiday in a caravan, but leave all of the stuff they packed behind by mistake. Graham Norton has a cameo in that one, and him singing "The Whole of the Moon" is classic. I was also on a tv show (a half hour, you could say I was the main person in it), so I love that one. ;) But I won't say what it is in the open- too much identifying information, ya know? :) But that one is definitely a favorite of mine. |

Friends - The One with the Prom Video
The "Gordon Gartrelle" episode of The Cosby Show, when Denise makes Theo the shirt and it looks so busted! :D |
oh heavens, mysticcat, how ever could i forget the 2 fun girls, the darlings or "it's me, it's me, it's ernest t.".
My favor-rite ernest t. episode is when he goes to school to complete his education so he can marry his romena(rowena). i take that back, it is when he tells andy and barney that he was engaged once to Hog (i forgot the last name)'s daughter, Hogette, but he heaved a rock at her to show his love one time and it hit her in the haid, and she ran off with the taxidermist what sewed up her haid. |

Taxi: Rev. Jim takes his Driver's Exam
Personally, I think that this is possibly the funniest bit ever seen on regular tv! I think I've said this here before, but Soap had some great ones, including the memorablel line about when Jody (the first openly gay man on tv - played by Billy Crystal) was marrying a hooker, and a family member was appalled. His mother said, "Well, his father was abducted by aliens, his brother talks through a ventroliquist dummy, his grandfather still thinks he's living during World War II, and she's a hooker. I think he's marrying up!" I loved The Andy Griffith Show when the two little old ladies are making moon shine!* *My mother watched Andy Griffith every chance she got. After she passed away, if her little dog heard the theme song, he'd go running to the tv! |

How could I forget: Seinfeld: "The Strike" -- Hardly anyone remembers Kramer's strike, but it's still a Festivus for the rest of us: The Airing of Grievances, the Feats of Strength . . . "I got a lot of problems with you people!" A true Festivus miracle. Seinfeld: "The Contest" -- "I am master of my domain." "I am king of my castle." I can still remember watching this one -- and my wife and me laughing so hard we were both crying -- the first time it aired. |

How I Met Your Mother - Zip, Zip, Zip, The Pineapple Incident, The Playbook
That 70's Show - Dine and Dash Scrubs - I don't remember the name, but it was in the 1st season and JD sleeps with Dr. Cox's ex-wife. Most of them are amazing, but the last episode always gets me. |

"YES TREVOR!!" "Will you marry m--ooph. *stunned silence* When she dyed the wedding dress black, iRolled. :o I think my fave ep of Boy Meets World was the last one. Where all the best moments of the entire series culminated in one great good-bye. And lots of the Feeny call. :p |
Golden Girls - The Birthday Episode. The ladies are discussing their favorite birthday memories. This one really makes me tear up when Rose celebrates her first birthday after Charlie dies by making herself a cake and letting his spirit know she's leaving Minnesota for Florida.
Mr. Belvedere - The Halloween episode. Heather dresses up as a sexy French maid & the older brother (can't remember his name) as a knight. By the end of the party, she made him switch costumes. Lol! Out of This World - The one where Evie has her Sweet 16 & has the choice of a new power but she chooses none. Small Wonder - The one where Lyle Alzado guest stars. The obnoxious aunt who supposedly knows everyone in Hollywood really does know him. I Love Lucy - The Charm School Episode. Married with Children - The episodes where they're in London always make me laugh. Two & A Half Men - It's a tie. I LOVE the episode where Charlie pretends to be gay & Allen is his partner so he can continue to get the business of a rich gay businessman. The other episode is the one where Jake is watched by his grandma & in a short time, he manages to spill spaghetti all over her living room, cause water damage to her ceiling & break her spirits. LOL! |
one more seinfeld episode to add-the Chinese restaurant episode.
"Cartwright..........party of 4" |

Designing Women is in a class of its own: Designing Women thread, thanks to wrigley!
Maybe there should be a Seinfeld one, too |
Cheers: The episode when Woody sings a song for Kelly...and it's just the name "Kelly" in a loop.
Seinfeld: "You made out during Schindler's List?!" It's hard for me to come up with my favorite episode of a show that's still on... |
Ditto to whomever mentioned any Cosby episode involving lip synching!
M*A*S*H "Adam's Ribs" (and probably another 100 or so I could list, I adore this show) WKRP in Cincinnati "Turkeys Away" Designing Women "The Beauty Pageant" Not slightly a sitcom, but the "Puppet Show" episode of Angel is probably one of the funniest 44 minutes of TV ever. |
right now since my mind is on HIMYM (rewatching my dvds)
there really are way too many to name but: Swarley, Zip, Zip, Zip, Slapsgiving, The Plantinum Rule, The Naked Man, How I Met Everyone Else.... Ok, I think that is enough...I love this show.... |
I don't have a particular episode, but my top 5 sitcoms are:
Martin King of Queens The Jeffersons Happy Days Brady Bunch |
