True Blood S4

Well here we go.....

IrishLake 06-26-2011 03:35 PM

Yay!

I do have to say... after watching the preview, I'm not sure I like where this season is going. I know the focus is supposed to be witches, but the way the fairy line is portrayed right off the bat... I don't know.

Proverbs31 06-26-2011 03:45 PM

Can't wait! :D

Ditto. I'm not really sure if I'll be watching the whole season, but I hope they stay somewhat on track!

APhi4Ever 06-26-2011 07:33 PM

Has anyone read the Sookie Stackhouse series which True Blood is based off of? I have read them all and am currently reading the newest that came out in May.

tootiepie2 06-26-2011 08:20 PM

I have read all the books, LOVE them.
LOVE the series, waiting for it to start as we speak.
I do get upset that the show is soooo different than the books.

AGDLynn 06-26-2011 08:36 PM

I'm reading the books. In fact, the newest one is the 1st book loaded onto my new Color Nook but I am holding out reading it until this weekend.

I don't have HBO and haven't gotten around to getting from Blockbuster if they have it.

IrishLake 06-26-2011 08:55 PM

I finished the newest book (Dead Reckoning) last weekend. They're always a fast read.

Yeah, the writers only kinda sorta stay tied to the storylines in the books. I love Lafayette in the show, but Jessica annoys me.

aggieAXO 06-26-2011 09:02 PM

yea!! only 30 more seconds!!!

IrishLake 06-26-2011 10:38 PM

Sigh..... thoughts? I think it completely has gone away from the books storyline now.

CarolinaPhi 06-26-2011 10:41 PM

I read all of the books before I started watching the show. Not a huge fan of her style of writing (at all) but I was hooked on the story & read the last one the day after it came out! Honestly, I liked seasons 1-3 of the show more than the books. There were just a few things that I thought were portrayed better in the series- like what happened between the king & queen.

Overall, I did NOT like how they did things for tonight's episode. The majority of it was just laughable. I know that things cannot be exactly like the book but for this first episode it was 100% different. Hopefully it gets better as the season continues! Has anyone watched the second episode with hbogo.com?

APhi4Ever 06-27-2011 01:04 AM

K did anyone think the first episode sucked? There are so many things way different from the book and I do not like it. I wonder if other fans will agree?

Thank God. I think the show is WAY better than the books. Let's be honest, after the fifth book the author just lost her mojo plus if the show was a straight adaptation of the books it would be a little uneventful for those who read the books.

I agree. I'm gonna say that the show develops and portrays the characters better than the books do. Other than Sookie, all of the characters seem so one dimensional in the books, which is a big fail (on the books) IMO. Arlene, Jason, Sam, Tara, and Lafayette's stories in the show are well appreciated by me.

IrishLake 06-27-2011 08:10 AM

Don't get me wrong, there has to be plots for the other characters on the show. Otherwise all Sookie all the time would get boring. I can agree with part of what CarolinaPhi said, I don't always care for C. Harris' style of writing. And I enjoy seeing Tara, Sam, Jason and Laf with their own stories. But I still think last nights show kinda sucked. I'll still watch though, I need my weekly dose of hot super men.

Proverbs31 06-27-2011 08:36 AM

I didn't too much care for last night's episode either. But I'm pretty sure I felt the same about last year's season premiere but ended up loving season 3. So hopefully they're just trying to establish the new story lines (after all, an entire year has passed) and things will get better.

Senusret I 06-27-2011 10:04 AM

I am not a FAN-fan of the show, but I enjoyed last nights episode. It felt like a soap opera to me and I liked it.

ms_gwyn 06-27-2011 01:03 PM

Yea, I think this is all just set up...IMO, the 2nd eppy is better....I'm developing a crush on Eric (finally)....

It shows promise, so I will reserve judgement.

aggieAXO 06-27-2011 06:03 PM

You can also watch the second episode on demand. I too was a bit disappointed with the first episode but the second was better.

Just watched the second episode. Yup, much better. :D

ZetaGirl22 06-27-2011 11:21 PM

I was kinda WTFing the first episode too. I guess the whole storyline of the books has been thrown out the window. I really REALLY hope they don't try to throw in the fae war stuff this season...........would make it WAAAAY too cumbersome. I know that Claude is going to be in this season (although I am sure there is not a man hot enough on earth to play Claude LOL) but I wonder if Niall is going to show up too? Meh......I was so hoping to see a naked Eric running down Hummingbird Rd :(

BetteDavisEyes 07-03-2011 11:53 AM

1st episode was not good but did enjoy the 2nd. :)

The whole witches storyline still has me on the fence but we'll see how it plays out.

APhi4Ever 07-03-2011 03:50 PM

The 2nd episode was really good, much better than the 1st. I just finished reading the most recent Sookie Stackhouse series book, it was interesting. I'm curious to see where it will go with the next one.

ASUADPi 07-04-2011 12:29 PM

2nd episode was really good.

I read in Entertainment Weekly that this season is "semi" based off of book 4. Well I guess in that book (which I haven't read), Eric and Sookie consummate their relationship in a hot and heavy shower scene. The interviewee (whoever it was) said they weren't sure if they would go that route this season.

Just give me some Eric and Sookie lovin' and I'm good to go. Give me more of Alexander topless and I'm good to go as well.

IrishLake 07-10-2011 09:29 PM

OMG, I want this Eric.

PiKA2001 07-11-2011 05:05 AM

Thank you Mr. Ball for killing Claudine...

That actress playing Claudine sucked anyway.

Even after this week's episode? Not liking him... he's like a toddler with fangs. Ugh.

IrishLake 07-18-2011 10:40 PM

Meh. The whole episode rubbed me the wrong way. Why didn't Bill smell Eric on Sookie when she wouldn't let him in the house? I'm so tired of Sam's brother's storyline, and the shit with Jason is being drug out too much.

IndianaSigKap 07-18-2011 10:47 PM

All I need is a shirtless Alcide...

like x eleventymillion.

Anyone else get the feeling Debbie Pelt is about to go ape shit on Sookie? She's due to die... (Debbie, not Sookie)

I think she's going to fall off the wagon soon myself.

ASUADPi 08-05-2011 09:37 PM

Yeah to some Sookie and Eric "happiness" :D

I may be in the minority but I was a bit disappointed by the scene. Thrilled they finally got their "happiness" ;) but I prefer snarky & cocky Eric to this puppy dog Eric. I want her to have thrilling graveyard style sex with Eric like she did with Bill. Lol!

IrishLake 09-12-2011 07:39 PM

Anyone else think it's pathetic how they portrayed Eric and Bill last night? PUKE. And I'm starting to really dislike Sookie. I still love her in the books, but the TV version is just annoying. I don't understand the purpose of the fae this season, other than to explain Sookie's powers. What was the purpose of one coming from out of the blue to fuck Andy? Why didn't Eric and Bill stake Russell when they had the chance? How did Russel find a way out? Will we see the Hotshot Weres again (I didn't like how they were portrayed at all)?

ASUADPi 09-12-2011 10:04 PM

Russell-that was his name! I was wracking my brain trying to remember who it was.

And they did not just do what I think they did with Tara. WTH!
