It's really hard to believe, isn't it? Can't wait to hear the details!

ABC News (and probably others but that's who I'm watching) is saying unmanned drones (airplane bombers) killed him... That's amazing!!! So great to see how far unmanned technology is coming. God that's such great news.

My cousin finally got justice. And so did so many others. He lost his choice to live just as many others did that day in September. Justice is not done. But, it is closer.

My only fear is that others will try to step in his place. I fear that violence will increase. But, I am still so happy.

One of my chapter sisters lost her brother in the Pentagon on 9/11. I hope she and her family will feel closure. Right now, she keeps saying, "I want proof." I just want to know how they "have is body" if the kill was made with unmanned drones.

CBS news says that he was shot in the head, thus the ground troops found him and killed him. They have been saying for 45 minutes now that Obama is about to speak, wonder why he is delaying. Could it be someone jumped the gun?

They notified press early and are still preparing his remarks probably. That or other people who want/should/whatever to be present on the stage are being brought in quickly.

Basically they got a big newsflash and have nothing else to talk about because there's no more info so they're just gonna wait.

Someone let me know when the speech starts, I have CNN streaming up but I wouldn't know if it was borked or not.

NBC talking head said that Obama and Panetta (sp?) have been calling VIP's (international perhaps?) and leading senators on armed forces/security related committees, might not be finished doing so. Can you imagine being a PM of a European country that has been cooperating heavily with the US in sharing resources/info on Bin Laden and hearing it for the first time on TV? Would not be happy.

I'm hearing that now, too. I think they originally assumed it was unmanned drones because ground forces aren't allowed to operate in Pakistan. I don't think they know exactly what is going on right now. That's probably why Obama is delaying-- I think they know he's dead, they just don't really want to send the prez out to speak to the country with unclear or the wrong specifics... kinda important.

I think he could just come out and say, "He's dead!" right now but obviously he can't just leave it at that lol so he's probably taking a few minutes to get the rest of the info.

My cell phone and FB is blowing up right now from some of my fellow armed service men and women. I honestly believe this is the biggest moral booster ever. We needed this! :D

My guess is that the administration isn't suffering from the mixed reports that are getting out to the media.

Agreed :) How exciting. I hear what backbowlsgirl is saying too though about increased violence, but I think his death alone with just what we need to get a leg-up on a lot of our current operations.

I can't find anything online yet but according to CNN radio reports Bin Ladens body has already been buried....at sea.....Hmmmm.

It's a good strategic move. Imagine how huge his funeral would've been if it was done normally. It'll be a huge propoganda opportunity for Al-Qaeda.

I'm a little distrusting of the "We shot him and then buried him at sea" quote" too, you would have seriously thought that DNA tests would have been taken (surely it takes more than a few hours?) and photo's would have been released showing the world that it was definately bin laden and that he was definately dead.
Not that i'm being at all anti-usa/pro-terrorists, but really, i just want to see the proof.

I don't think so. No one important showed up to the funerals of other top Al Qaeda or Taliban officials killed by U.S. forces because they know we're watching. Al-Qaeda doesn't need a funeral to make a martyr out of Osama either.

I've been watching this unfold all night via the Internet ( both mainstream and alternative news sites) and the conspiracy theories started blowing up after it was announced his body was dumped into the ocean. Not surprising at all considering he was the most wanted man in the world and we dumped his body somewhere that could never be found only one hour after announcing we had the body in custody. I know It sounds barbaric but I think we should have paraded it around for at least a day or two.

And a lot of people are echoing your "need for proof".

Some interesting rumors that sprung up over the night.
- Osama was shot in the head at close range making some people suggest he pulled a Hitler and killed himself when special forces stormed his compound. Apparently he also had standing orders with his bodyguards that they were to kill him before allowing him to be captured by U.S. Forces

- Osama's been dead and in U.S. custody for months/years now and if the body was released it would have easily been noticed due to decomposition.

- It's all BS and he's still alive.

- The reason for the late night announcement was that a soldier who was part of the raid tweeted about the death of Osama Bin Laden, forcing Obama's speech last night.
