ITT we chit chat about our favorite ice cream
I was reading the Easter basket thread, and ice cream came up in the conversation. I thought an ice cream thread would be cool. I think there's a DQ and 31 Flavors thread, but I didn't see anything about random ice cream.
I don't like chocolate ice cream, but I love vanilla, and butter pecan. DQ ice milk is really good, too. sherbet ice cream is disgusting, yuck! What are your faves? :) |
My favorite ice cream ever to grace this planet is Friendly's Butter Crunch. It's blended butter and maple ice cream with butter toffee candy pieces.
http://hannaford.gsnrecipes.com/GetI...lo8jdaqitFi03g OMG! It's an mouthgasm on a spoon. |
There's a great ice cream parlor just two blocks from here, and they have amazing flavors.
I usually go for sorbet ice cream, especially raspberry and lemon. Today I changed it up and I had mint ice cream with dark chocolate chips, coconut ice cream and cookie-caramel ice cream. Yum! |
There is a place here called Katie's Corner.
It's amazing. |
|
My favorites, in no particular order:
Pistachio Butter Almond Cookie Dough |
Locally, I love Mitchell's Ice Cream.
http://mitchellshomemade.com/images/logo.gif and Woo City, that you can only get in restaurants. It is very high in butterfat and so delicious. My favorite Flavors vary but typically have carmel mixed in. |
Any brand: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough or Mint Chocolate Chip
Specific: Cake batter ice cream with cookie dough bits from Cold Stone *drools* |

Chocolate IceCream, Chocolate Cookies, Chocolate Fudge Ribbon REDUCED CALORIE, BUT YOU SURE AS HECK CAN'T TELL....OM NOM NOM. |
My two favorites are Fudge Brownie and Cherries Jubilee from Baskin & Robbins
|
1. Carvel soft-serve. This has to be chocolate ice cream, though:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_B6J6nGs6Vw...ce808855f1.jpg 2. My favorite packaged ice cream: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uDAYWF_UMx...R4/s320/BJ.jpg 3. My second favorite packaged ice cream: http://www.hood.com/uploadedImages/H...dge.jpg?n=9907 And now, I'm craving!!! |
Hagen Daas Pineapple Coconut Ice Cream for non-chocolate.
For chocolate-- Baskin Robin's Rocky Road |
Cookie dough ice cream, any brand.
Creamery brand peanut butter swirl and coconut chip. Coldstone anything. Ben & Jerry's Imagine Whirled Peace and Late Night Snack. Can you tell I'm an ice cream person? Haha. |
Berkey's Creamery ANYTHING.
Blue Bell is my favorite brand, but of course not in Ohio. Flavors: Mint Chip or Cookie Dough |

My 3 favorite Toft's flavors: http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...wly_toledo.gif Caramel lovers heaven (HINT k_s) http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...ake_batter.gif Can't beat cake batter flavor! http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...rry_waffle.gif My husbands favorite, but one of mine, too. Lots of fresh blueberries and chunks of waffle cone. |
^^^Not on this side of Ohio. With the exception of Graeters (which I still think is inferior!), I have never heard of those.
|
Indy just picked up a Blue Bell distribution center last year, so I can pick up a half gallon at pretty much any grocery store. Favorites: Homemade Vanilla and Rocky Road.
But Graeter's is some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Their Black Raspberry Chip is to die for. One of the local grocery chains sells it for about 5 bucks a pint. Worth every penny. =) |
But Graeter's Raspberry Chip is Oprah's FAVE!!!!!!!!!! lol!!
Toft's is based in Sandusky. I'm biased, of course, but I think it's the best ice cream evah! You can get it at The Anderson's in Columbus as well. Young's Jersey Dairy is in Yellow Springs, and it's still delish. Graeters sold out and got all commercialized, the other 2 have stayed true to local roots. |
Ice cream is my weakness. I love Ben and Jerry's cheesecake brownie swirl. The best ice cream place in my area is Graeter's. Lots of good flavors to choose from!
|
If we're talking packaged ice ceam, I'm a Ben & Jerry's girl all the way.
My fave = NY Fudge. With Chubby Hubby in 2nd. |
|
Mmmmmm...ice cream. I used to work at Cold Stone. That was dangerous!
No other Chocolate Peanut Butter fans? IMO, chocolate and peanut butter is the best combination EVER. From the grocery store I buy the Haagan Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter. Oberweis has it too. If I go to Cold Stone I get Peanut Butter Cup Perfection (chocolate ice cream, mashed up Reeses, spoonful of peanut butter, and chocolate syrup). However, I do NOT like peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream. If my favorite is not available, I'll also take plain chocolate, cookies and cream or cookie dough. I'm also a big fan of sorbet. |
Yay Blue Bell and Brenham, Texas! :D
|
Breyer's vanilla, cold stone cake mix, UDF cookies n cream. mmmmm
|
ben and jerrys coffee coffee buzz buzz buzz which is only sold by the scoop :(

And now I'm craving a Hoodsie Cup! :) I love bubblegum ice cream from Hayward's in Nashua, NH. I also love Ben & Jerry's Makin' Whoopie Pie. I didn't realize until I moved out of New England that not everyone "understands" this one. I also didn't really think about the fact that Hood is a regional thing, so 'Hoodsie Cup' isn't a universal name. |
I live in an area with lots of gourmet ice cream shops.
* Salted Caramel from Bi-Rite Creamery * Vanilla Balsamic Caramel from Ici * Secret Breakfast from Humphrey Slocombe Secret Breakfast is this really sweet ice cream with quite a few ingredients, but Bourbon and Irish Cream are main ingredients. Yes, it does have enough alcohol that if you eat too much, you might just lose your judgment (slightly). |
Stroh's Moose Tracks and Cookies and Cream. YUM!
|
there was recently an article on yahoo about ice cream shops in philly, now that its finally getting warmer im excited to try them all out and pick a new fave
|
My all time favorite is Graeter's Chocolate Chocolate Chip. Say what you will, but it's heaven to me.
After that a toss up between Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream and Phish Food. |
You all have hit almost all of my faves already...

LOVE Moose Tracks, LOVE Strohs. There are other brands of Moose Tracks that are good, but Strohs is always the best! Quote:
The one nobody has mentioned yet that is TO DIE FOR is Mackinac Island Fudge. Yummmmmmmmmmm. |
My favorite is a local shop - Brusters. We had a taste test between Brusters and Godiva's Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, and Brusters won, hands down.
If I've buying some for home, it's http://edys.slowchurned.com/images/f...ages/1686p.jpg. Supposedly, it's less fat & calories, but if I really have to have ice cream, I usually don't look at the labels! Vanilla, please, with lots of "stuff" to put on it! |

Baskin-Robbins
Hagen Daz Ben and Jerry's That is all. :) |
I so rarely go out for ice cream anymore - it's been years since I went to an ice cream store (parlor? that seems so formal). It took this thread for me to realize how long it's been! I'm a horrible mom, and I realize this trend must stop now.
When I used to go out for ice cream, it was always to Baskin Robbins. My choice there was either Cookies and Cream or Pistachio. While on vacation once, I went to a Ben & Jerry's and had Phish Food. Good stuff. There's a Mexican restaurant in town that has wonderful fried ice cream. I'm sure it's completely inauthentic, but it's delicious. I buy Blue Bell brand ice cream from the grocery store - Ultimate Neapolitan is our family's favorite. There's some in the freezer right now actually, and I think I hear it calling my name. |
It used to be Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and now it's Cake Batter. Apparently, I can live without cooked things (even in ice cream). :)
Ben & Jerry's has the chocolate ribbon going through it but at Coldstone, I can get cake batter with yellow cake, strawberries, and sprinkles! DangitnowI'mhungry. |
So is cake batter ice cream done at other places? The first and only time I've heard of it is at Cold Stone.
|
Yes, it is. I think Cold Stone was the first to break it out, though.
|
Now you've got me craving it lol
