LOL

My Easter baskets always contained a hollow chocolate bunny, along with various other chocolate items. My parents and I usually attended Saturday vigil Mass, but for Easter we skipped the l-o-o-o-o-o-o-n-g Easter Vigil Mass and went to 9:15am Mass on Easter. Mom always "forgot to lock the door" so Dad loaded me into the car while Mom went back to "lock up" - read: run inside, grab the Easter basket, place it on the front step, and join us in the car. When we got back from Mass, my parents said, "Ooh, the Easter bunny must have stopped by while we were at Mass! What did he leave?" And I spent the rest of the day on a sugar high :p

Haha... one year when I was little, Easter weekend happened to coincide with the DST time change, and my parents forgot about it. We walked into the 9:15am Mass just as it was ending... oops. Fortunately there was a 10:30 Mass.

AGDee 04-18-2011 10:44 AM

colored eggs

I LOVE them, but I don't know anyone else, in real life, who does. People say they're gritty, tasteless and too sweet. IDGI. lol

And they're cream filled. Cream filled = nasty -- just looking at the picture makes me feel queasy.

Robin's eggs or good jelly beans. That's the only candy I care about seeing in my Easter basket.

And this year, Peeps has come out with chocolate-dipped marshmallow chicks...oh boy...

When I was a kid, my sister & I would dye the eggs a day or two before Easter. Every Easter morning we would come downstairs and find our basket of goodies from the Easter bunny, and he always put one of our eggs in there with everything. I never really thought it was strange that the bunny had broken into our refrigerator and stolen our Easter eggs.

It's Peep Jousting season :D

I'm not a fan of Peeps to begin with, but the chocolate covered ones are a special kind of nasty. The chocolate they used is just awful!

I'm adding Russell Stover's Chocolate Covered Marshmellow Eggs and a toothbrush.

Oh no, a waste of good Peeps!

I like to put them in cocoa in the winter.

I agree about the cream filled = nasty part. I won't even taste one because I think they look so slimy and gross. I'll take Cadbury caramel eggs though.

I love robin's eggs and good jelly beans, but it's the Reese's eggs and hollow chocolate bunnies that I like the best. Also chocolate covered marshmallow eggs in the carton. Also chocolate eggs. Chocolate. Chocolate. Just not chocolate with weird white and yellow creamy stuff inside!

Benzgirl 04-18-2011 03:28 PM

Am I the only person that thinks Peeps are nasty?

Fannie May Creme Eggs - especially Trinidads!
Cadbury Mini Eggs - these are 10,000,000 times better than M&Ms

IndianaSigKap 04-18-2011 05:18 PM

Reese's peanut butter eggs, jelly beans and post it notes with rabbits on them (yes, I am a nerd). My Easter baskets were the best!

One thing that I would ALWAYS get in my Easter basket was this mini egg crate, filled with egg-shaped bubble gum. It was so incredibly random, and to this day, I still wonder where my mom bought those things. I’ve never actually seen them in a store… ever.

Found a picture!

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41IRLh8-UgL.jpg

.. except the cartons weren't clear - my brother would always get the solid blue carton, I would get the pink. And the label was different. I couldn't tell you what the label looked like, but if I saw it today, I'm sure I'd recognize it immediately.

And btw... Cadbury creme eggs rule. Peeps are disgusting.

And I’m not a big chocolate fan, so I usually just eat the top off of the Cadbury eggs, then lick out all of the cream filling (no inappropriate jokes, please!)

I'm reminded of a quote by the comedian Lewis Black:
"Candy Corn is the only candy in the history of America that's never been advertised. And there's a reason. All of the candy corn that was ever made was made in 1911."

I think this applies to Peeps, as well.

Stale peeps.
Gummy bunnies covered in sugar. (Gumdrops, but in Bunny shapes).
Hard boiled eggs that we decorated the night before and left out for the bunny to put in our baskets.
Chocolate covered marshmallow eggs.
Hiding the baskets throughout the house.
