It must be Spring, because...

- I left the house this morning with my hair wet, twisted and secured with a clip
- I noticed that I need a pedicure
- my allergies are back
- the cats are stalking the birds through the window screens

(no plant life is budding or popping up yet, I'm in the northeast)

What reminds you that spring has arrived?

Psi U MC Vito 04-08-2011 01:09 PM

Spring? We had snow on the ground yesterday.

IrishLake 04-08-2011 01:10 PM

My kids covered in mud after playing outside for less than 10 minutes = spring.

We once had a measurable snowfall on May 19, lol. The calendar says it's spring, so just play the game. ;)

:D My favorite time of the year. I like summer but wish it could be spring all year. I hate cold weather. I dislike sweaty hot hot hot weather so springtime is better than summer in that regard.

When it is 70 degrees or higher for 3 days in a row.

When it is very light and sunny when I wake up and it is still light in the evening.

People's daily routines shift because it can be 7:30 and still light.

When people are driving around at 7:30 without headlights. That's pushing it in some areas, but I've been seeing it for the past 2 weeks.

thetaj 04-08-2011 01:19 PM

My grey car has a nice yellow film thick enough to withstand the afternoon rain showers. Also, I can't breathe. But I love spring, so much :)

knight_shadow 04-08-2011 01:30 PM

I know it's spring when I can't breathe.

The weather in Texas is so funky, so I don't have any weather cues.

*Goes back to sulking about 88 degree high today*

honeychile 04-08-2011 01:36 PM

-My throat is raw and sore.
-My gable in leaking.
-My newspapers were wet.

AnotherKD 04-08-2011 01:44 PM

Sudden increase in crime. There's a bit here and there when it's cold, but once it starts to get warm, look out! Hell, there were 4 murders either yesterday or the day before (I can't remember which) in DC alone. Lots of notices about muggings and whatnot on the MPD listserv, too. That's how you know spring has sprung in the District!

That, and leaving the house in the morning with a cardigan and winter coat, but leaving work in a short-sleeved shirt and being comfortable.

Right? Its pretty warm out already so its prolly gonna be hot Today. There is only two seasons here- summer and not summer and it's been summer for about a month now.

Here in Austin Texas during the lunch hour it's 83 degrees with a forcasted high of 90. My husband wants to move back to his home state of Ohio.

AGDee 04-08-2011 03:18 PM

That's why y'all think 88 is summer. In Michigan, 88 degrees is summer. In Texas, it has to be 100 to be summer!

I know it is Spring because the ducks are doing what they do to make more ducks all over the whole darn neighborhood. One pair almost got run over by a car because they were in the middle of the street.

I also know it is Spring because the daffodils have grown to about 3 inches above the ground.

I also know it is Spring because instead of massive amounts of snow, we're getting massive amounts of rain. I like rain better. I don't have to shovel rain.

aephi alum 04-08-2011 05:09 PM

It's spring?

Tulip86 04-08-2011 06:56 PM

- The sun is out!
- People find excuses to get out of work early so they can sit on a terrace and drink a beer at 4 in the afternoon
- When it rains, it poors
- Every single female is in a state of panic because of the not-so-bikini-ready state of their bodies.

indygphib 04-08-2011 08:01 PM

I just saw bare muffin tops at the grocery store...yecch...

midwesterngirl 04-08-2011 08:05 PM

It's 65 degrees one day and 89 the next.(that is/was the forecast for today and tomorrow here in KC)

The God awful smelly Bradford Pear trees are blossoming.

My teenager and her friends want to tan to get ready for pool season.

That's what I say!!!-running today in 95 degree heat, it feels like summer already. Back to running at sundown:(

Optimus Prime 04-09-2011 07:13 AM

It must be spring cause the butt cheeks are out!!

ADqtPiMel 04-09-2011 08:52 AM

My volume of laundry has gone down considerably. During the winter with two runners I do laundry every day -- tights, long sleeve shirts, jackets, hats, gloves, balaclavas, etc. Now it's just shorts and shirts!

Also I can stop running with a headlamp on since the sun rises at 6am.

And I have to start mowing the grass again.

If I remember right, your kids should about be to the age that they can start helping with this...unless they're terrified of the lawnmower, like I was (ok, AM).:p

Love the new sig, by the way.

One is, the other isn't. The question is whether I'm terrified of the thought of him with a lawnmower. We'll see.

Extra points if you can name the source.

Isn't it from the Gaudeamus Igitur?

We teach the NMs that song..

We have winner! :D

It's not as well known a song here; lots of people would probably recognize the melody, and it is in our songbook, but only the first verse.

Tulip86 04-09-2011 10:47 AM

They still sing it here at most colleges at the opening af the academic year. That's why the NMs (and NMs of most other GLOs here) learn the song

PhoenixAzul 04-09-2011 11:20 AM

Oh man, I don't know how I'm going to survive an Oklahoma summer. I'm dying here, and it's been in the 80s the past few days. When it hits 120, I'm out. Plus, the sudden swing from cool to hot has made my hip joint KILL.

ThetaPrincess24 04-09-2011 12:32 PM

It must be Spring because it's Keeneland/Churchill Downs season in Kentucky!!!

Benzgirl 04-09-2011 12:41 PM

It must be spring because I have received my injury of the year. Tore my left meniscus, so I now have a matching pair.

lovespink88 04-09-2011 08:51 PM

I'm seeing at least one spider somewhere in my house nearly every day...

Tulip86 04-10-2011 05:03 AM

cheerfulgreek 04-10-2011 05:16 AM

It's supposed to be 78 today.

aephi alum 04-10-2011 08:32 PM

My forsythia are in bloom.

It's still butt-cold out, though. brrrrrrrr :(
