Easy peasy....running back to my house and my sisters the summer I was a recruitment counselor...pure joy <3

What was the craziest thing you've ever done with your sisters?

What was the craziest thing you've ever done with your sisters?

Bungee Jumping on spring break with three other sisters.

What was the moment when you realized you were meant to be an AOII? (could be during rush, pledge period, or even after initiation)

StellarSister 04-05-2011 10:41 AM

I favored AOII all throughout recruitment, but I realized I was definitely meant to be an AOII during my post-initiation workshop as a newly initiated sister. Learning all about our beautiful Ritual sealed the deal for me!

What's the most valuable thing AOII has taught you about yourself?

AOII Angel 04-05-2011 10:42 AM

When I moved into the dorm, and I was sitting one night in the foyer with a bunch of sisters at two AM just goofing off and talking. I realized that AOII was exactly where I fit and that I was lucky to have a group of laid back sisters to call my own.

What was your favorite party theme?

You beat me Stellar! We'll do yours!

OleMissGlitter 04-05-2011 11:09 AM

Probably my bid day...running down the hill to the most beautiful house on campus and the most beautiful members on campus! I remember really feeling welcomed and wanted! (by the way this august will be 15 years since my bid day!)

irishpipes 04-05-2011 11:30 AM

My favorite party theme was "Alphapulco" - our pledge dance. It was all tropical with fake palm trees and pretty drinks and stuff.

What is your favorite lettered item? (i.e. lavalier, certain sweatshirt, etc.)

BAckbOwlsgIrl 04-05-2011 11:33 AM

Prison Party!

My favorite party theme was Prison Party.
Our dates were sent WANTED posters, with the reason, eg. "Disorderly Conduct", for invitations with the burning around the edges. It was actually just plain 8x10 paper with lemon juice, I think, soaked then burned. I had my mine customized to say "WANTED: Indecent Exposure" - teeheeehee!

During the week or two prior you had to have so many points to BAIL, get your date out of JAIL. Getting points involved doing philanthropy, showing up for meetings, etc.

All dates showed up at the location and were put in "JAIL", a different room of the bar.

Everyone, sisters and dates, had white shirts that said AOII Prison Party.

Well, I did not do enough that week. So, I, along with a handful of others had to stand up on a pool table and sing to get my date out of JAIL. It was so much fun!

We were also given pairs of play/toy handcuffs that had AOII Prison Party on them. Sisters had made them with the popular paint pen. Everyone was handcuffed to their date! My date even, briefly, handcuffed me to the table! It was all in fun!

What A BLAST!!!

txAOII_15 04-05-2011 02:24 PM

- i just got a set of yankees material AOII letters. im so obsessed with them right now lol.

whats your favorite kind of dog?

AOIIalum 04-05-2011 06:26 PM

My favorite dog is currently a Golden Mix, but I'm biased because that's my dog!

Where is your dream location for International Convention?

NYC! I wanna tour Columbia with my sisters!

What is your favorite AOII item?

BAckbOwlsgIrl 04-05-2011 07:28 PM

I like to have AOII convention in Seattle, Toronto or Puerto Rico.

Favorite AOII item: My lettered sweatshirt that I got myself for making grades!

Next Question:
What part of our open symbols are your favorite? Wheat, panda, badge, rose, etc?

AOII Angel 04-05-2011 09:56 PM

That's easy for me...I love our badge...just bought my 13th vintage badge!

BTW, love Puerto Rico, but I don't see us going there anytime soon:D Toronto or Montreal would be lots of fun!

How big was your chapter when you were a collegian?

txAOII_15 04-05-2011 10:13 PM

AOII_Angel, that is a stunning badge. i wish they offered that option, i have the plain gold badge but i would buy the one you have in a heartbeat.

my chapter was a colony and we are celebrating our first year as a chapter this year, and were up to 75 girls after our forma recruitment in february, including seniors (15).

next question: how has AOII helped you to grow as a person?

GuitarAOII 04-06-2011 11:59 AM

That badge is beautiful!!! *love*

Sidenote: I'd love to see Convention in Toronto, but chances are that will never happen. There was enough trouble trying to get badges brought up for our chapter's installation (my chapter adviser said the badges had to be worn around someone's neck in order to get them across the boarder haha).

Anywho, AOII helped me realize my full potential, both as an officer and as a person. Close sisters have helped me realize who I am as a person. AOII gave me so many opportunities that will benefit me in all types of events, jobs, and community service.

Next question: if you could pick any school to have an AOII chapter, which one would it be?

AOII Angel 04-06-2011 02:11 PM

U of Texas, recharter of Pi Kappa

Next question, how many conventions, LIs, LAs have you attended?

irishpipes 04-06-2011 03:46 PM

1 LI in Denver (before they moved them to Nashville) and 2 Conventions (Nashville, Phoenix)

irishpipes 04-06-2011 03:47 PM

What AOII chapters have you visited?

OleMissGlitter 04-06-2011 03:52 PM

Alpha Delta (Bama), Nu Omicron (Vandy), Gamma Omicron (UF), Lambda Sigma (UGA), Lambda Tau (ULM), Kappa Omicron (Rhodes) (and of course my own chapter Nu Beta-Ole Miss)

Some were for chapter visits with my volunteer position and some were just for fun!

I hope to get to visit some more with my volunteer position!

Who is your favorite Founder and why?

GuitarAOII 04-06-2011 04:27 PM

Elizabeth Heywood Wyman because every single time I do the "Which Founder Are You" activity (I was New Member Educator for a year, then add in all the new member lessons I've been to) I end up with her. Plus, she was International President when there was expansion into Canada.

Question: Did your chapter have housing? If it did, did you live in it?

Lambda Tau had a dorm that was shared with the other three chapters on campus when I was in school. (It burned down a year after I graduated.:() I lived there for three and a half years and had such a great time. My scholarship covered room and board, so it payed for me to live with my sisters!

What does your badge look like?

irishpipes 04-06-2011 09:44 PM

Iota Chapter House (University of Illinois)
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/a...g?t=1302140529

My badge is the plain Jane yellow gold.

What year was your chapter installed?

OleMissGlitter 04-06-2011 10:23 PM

Nu Beta, Feb. 22, 1958

Have you ever been to Headquarters?

AOII Angel 04-07-2011 01:33 AM

I have, and I want to go back and document the badges on the vault!

How long have you been an AOII?

GuitarAOII 04-07-2011 08:59 AM

I was initiated in March 2009! So far it's been two of the most amazing years of my life :)

What was your favourite officer position in AOII (could be either collegian or alumna years)/What was one position you would have liked to try?

I really enjoyed being t-shirt chairman as a collegian. I of course love my volunteer position as a network specialist-recruitment. As a collegian I think I would have liked to be NME or VPE.

Does your chapter (either alumnae or collegiate) have a Founders' Day Celebration? If so what do you do to honor our Founders?

My collegiate chapter has founders day every April (since school is out from Thanksgiving until January, we miss both traditional founders days).

All initiated members of the chapter are invited back and usually there is a brunch and ritual on Saturday as well as a dinner then night before. Unfortunately since I live 6+ hours away, I haven't attended for 13 years, but one of these days I want to go back!

How many stuffed Panda bears do you currently own?

Three, but one is at my mom's house in Baton Rouge. It's massive. My Big Sis gave it to me during Big Sis/Lil Sis week so I can't get rid of it!

Are you an active alum (or if a collegian will you be an active alum)?

Very active, currently serving as a Network Specialist-Recruitment and Foundation Ambassador along with being an alumnae chapter and Life Loyal member.

We were doing "Animal House" for skit day (yeah, I know, what were we thinking ) and had the entire chapter dressed in togas with a big prop house in the front of the room as the "AOII House." Half way through our second party, we were singing "AOII House" and doing our cheesy little dance when the prop house fell over right on top of three tables of PNMs! Everyone started screaming and laughing. Luckily the house wasn't very heavy. At least one of the PNMs ended up pledging us because she swears the house fell on her when I told this story recently on FB! We just picked up the house, acted like nothing happened and kept on singing!:D

Question: How many little sisters do you have?

I have 4 little sisters. I took 1 sophomore year, 1 junior year, and 2 senior year! Then 1 of my little sisters is my biological sister's big sister!

What's your favorite sisterhood event from as a collegian?

the grab-a-dates at the movie theater. The college newspaper "The Post" has a section for personal ads, and it was habit to grab the paper on the way to class every day.

Anyway, the social chair would put in an ad that said something like "AOII grab a date- AOII and dates report to (insert location) at (insert time)". Anyway, these would sometimes be midnight screenings just for us at the movie theater. Your "date" could be anyone- male or female it didn't really matter (it was also a great informal rush thing). I had a good friend that got so used to being my "date" that he would call me whenever he saw the ad to see if I would take him.

My token "date" is now my oldest son's godfather.

What is your favorite memory from Homecoming as an AOII?

GuitarAOII 04-08-2011 11:20 PM

Greeks are not recognized by the campus administration so we can't really do much in terms of Homecoming, so I'm going to slightly switch my answer from Homecoming to "Orientation Week" - hope that's okay (if not someone else can answer the question :p )

Two years ago, a few AOIIs and I were Orientation leaders and the Saturday Orientation event is "Black and Gold Day" (our school colours), where we have a football game and fun times and whatnot. Anyway, all orientation leaders do a "Black and Gold Day" dance during the half-time show for all the first-year students. My favourite memory of this was doing the dance and everything, then rushing with the other AOIIs (there were four of us) back to one of our member's house because we had a recruitment workshop that day right after half-time.

So there we are, running into the house and we all have black and gold body/face paint on, and our CDNS at the time just looked at us and said "I'm sure there's a good reason you're sweaty and painted on". Makes me laugh every time I think about it :p

That was a long answer! Next question: What is your chapter's submotto and do you know any other chapters' submottos?

AOII Angel 04-09-2011 10:46 AM

Lambda Tau- Loyalty Together

I also know-

Theta Beta- True Bonds of Friendship
Rho Beta- Real Bonds of Friendship,,, see how they did that! :)
Tau Lambda- Trust and Loyalty
Alpha- we all know that one!
Pi- Pistis meaning Faith
Delta Kappa- Kalokagathia meaning Excellent/Beautiful

That's all I can come up with right now. I love submottos!

Oops...next question! Did your AOII family have any items that were passed down from generation to generation?

txAOII_15 04-10-2011 05:39 PM

- there is a bid day shirt from 2005 (the year we were colonized) thats made the rounds in my family. its really cute and no one wants to wear it so that the next time it gets passed down its still in mint condition.

what have you done with all of your letter shirts/paraphernalia now that you have graduated or what will you do with the items when you do graduate?

I gave a few away to my little and grand-little at senior sendoff right before graduation. Those were mostly the block-letter shirts.

the date party tee shirts and sweatshirts I have in a blue rubbermade tote in the top of my closet. I can't bring myself to part with them. maybe someday I'll actually make one of those tee-shirt quilts with them. To continue the theme,

As a past t-shirt chairman, my favorite t-shirt was one that I made. It said "just one night of crazy love...AOII Crush Party." Then it had these two people dancing. It was super cute and on a grey shirt. Then the t-shirt chairman after me made this awesome shirt. It said, "Sometimes saying you’re the best doesn't mean much unless you have the letters to back it up...A O II." It was on a bright blue shirt and the letters were big and had roses growing in them.

(I still have my shirts but I'm waiting to get a quilt made one of these days. I also passed down a bunch of shirts when I was chapter adviser to collegians to enjoy!)
