HELP!!!!!!! Negatives on Greek Life
 

I'm writing an research position paper on how negative attitudes and stereotypes affect greek life. If any one can please post about how these negatives affected them in greek life or keeped someone they know from rushing a fraternity or sorority I would greatly appriciate it. I'm sure your professor will give you extra points because username Bluphire told you about the stereotypes and how it has affected his life.

Yeah, if you really need the info, I suggest that you call up the Greek Life office at your school and see if they'd be willing to provide you any sources, etc.

Also, remember that if you're talking to people actually involved in Greek Life or have been involved in Greek Life, there will be biases in the comments. Keep that in mind.

The forums are a method of informal discussion, but there is no way to confidently verify that anyone here is actually Greek.

Well a paper once used one of my posts here as a quote for an article, so apparently academic and journalistic standards are on equally slippery ground.

Do you happen to have a copy of the article? I'm just really curious to see how they did that. "Username "Barbie's_Rush" said "OMG GREEK LIFE BLAH" which we can use to see how ABC." I'm just super curious how anyone could take that seriously.

You know what's a major negative of greek life?

Finding a forum full of people who have shared similar experiences and being constantly bothered by assholes who can't do their own homework.

God I hate that shit.

I am bothered that the word "keeped" was used in the same paragraph as "research paper". Yikes!

Not to mention Pledged/Alliepoo Robbins using us as a source...LOL

And then there was the whole Prunetacos thing, a quote of something he said to me, using my name (my username that is) ended up in Slate. Creeeeeepy.

I'm using this forum as a resource for some research I'm doing. But my project is specifically on the lived experiences of sorority members based on interviews I conduct with active members, so an open forum like this is a perfect way to fill in some blanks and get a general feel about certain issues that I was unclear about based on my interviews.

But yeah, the stereotyping stuff was not an issue. I always had to ask about it, it never came up organically. None of them were victims about it, they recognized it was a thing but it wasn't a big deal to them. I thought that was pretty cool.
