Though it pains me to say this:

Backstreet Boys (I am so ashamed.)
N'sync (Again, the shame, the shame.)
I like that Brittany Spears Pepsi commercial (Are there any lower depths.)

Well that's about it. Of course, I will never purchase any of their albums, but I won't always switch stations if a song comes on the radio.

stillwater15 11-15-2001 05:42 PM

i'll admit it...

as a black woman, i absolutely love country and western music. when going places w/friends, i often get out of driving, because they don't want to listen to billy ray cyrus, dolly parton, kenny rogers, the judds, etc. to me, this music is similar to the blues.

also, i love classical music and opera. while in college, these types of music helped me to study better or so i thought. i've been hooked since then...

Ok, I admit it. Right now, my favorite song is My Sacrifice. I sat in front of MTV yesterday for 2 hours waiting for the video to come on, while flipping between that and Music Choice. If I knew what genre it fell under, I'd try and find it on the radio. I absolutely LOVE that song. I wonder if the CD is just as good. Anybody know?

DeTeRm1NaT1on 12-28-2001 07:37 PM

There is a group I use to like a lot. I think their name is Ace of Base. When their video's would come on I would turn the volume up as loud as I could get it! :)

Sincere 12-29-2001 12:56 AM

I'll definitely Admit it...
I LISTEN TO AEROSMITH.
They are a great band. Their fashion sense is often on point. However, I don't think I would approve of my father wearing any of their get ups. I often like their clothes for myself.

bluz4 12-29-2001 01:03 AM

Rachel0497 12-30-2001 04:05 AM

My musical taste has always been diverse, but one cd I have that very few people I know have is the first album by Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell. My roommate (who is also soror) listens to nothing but rock music-her favorite band is Live. I have another soror who has a bunch of rock in her collection as well (Nirvana, Lit, Dave Matthews, etc.) Since we go to a small HBCU, let's just say our music tastes are not popular with others.

CherryPepsi 12-30-2001 03:29 PM

jojapeach 12-30-2001 11:19 PM

I'm not all that ashamed because I love the fact that I've grown enough as a person to listen to more than hip hop and "booty shake".

So, there's no shame in...

*nsync
Grease sdtk
'80s music, especially Culture Club
Lenny Kravitz
Limp Bizkit
The Gorillaz
Madonna
a lil classical
a whole lotta traditional jazz, especially Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Lady Holliday.....

Now, there's a little shame here.... :(

Nostalgia ('30s and '40s)
Dixie Jazz
Metallica
Eddie Murphy (nawwww, just playin!)

librasoul22 12-31-2001 03:47 AM

Um...

I don't really have too much shame. I will perform any song for the people next to me at the stoplight, just depends on my mood, so I am saying these with pride! :D

Some of the more "off-color" titles I am jamming to right now, or have jammed to in the past:

The WHOLE No Doubt CD is ON POINT! They have a song on there with Lady Saw (reggae artist, the bomb in her own right), called "Underneath it All." This is like my favorite song right now. They even have song with Prince on there!!!

Britney, *N Sync, but NOT Backstreet... they are so bland to me. I only like Christina Aguilera's Spanish CD...

Ideal08, I am feelin' ya on the Marc Anthony tip...

Shakira - her voice is kinda grating on some tracks, but I love the twang in "Wherever, Whatever"

Linkin Park - LOVE their whole CD!!!

Lenny, have loved him since he was Mr. Bonet.

U2, ALL 80's music, Wham!, Foreigner, Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, Dirty Dancing soundtrack, this is just off top...

GEEZ, there is too much to mention!!! LOL :D

Some of us have been hip to this type of music for a while! I'm so glad I had older parents who liked jazz.
