Have you ever seen another greek orgs badge in person?
I *think* there was a thread like this but couldn't find it, so..
I've seen: Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Phi Sigma Sigma Sigma pledge pin Sigma Phi Epsilon Alpha Gamma Delta Delta Gamma Phi Sigma Sigma Delta Zeta Kappa Delta I have to say, these were all stunning and the pictures don't do them justice. |

I've only ever seen my SIL's Alpha Xi quill badge and my brother's Phi Kappa Tau badge in person. I keep hoping that I'll see some on OU's campus.
|
I've seen several orgs' members wearing their badges, but I haven't seen them up close. The only ones I've actual held in my hand are ADPi (one of my best friends in college who transferred in; her roommate at my college went Phi Mu, so the three of us, who were very close, were the campus' Macon Magnolias) and Alpha Phi (found in a thrift store just off campus--it was 25 cents, so I bought it and returned it to the chapter on campus). I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any other badges up close, and I tend not to be one to stick my face in other people's boobs to look at their badges. :o)
|
Sororities (besides my own, of course):
Alpha Sigma Alpha Theta Phi Alpha Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternities: Delta Chi Kappa Delta Rho Sigma Tau Gamma Tau Kappa Epsilon Pi Kappa Phi |
I've seen all of the chapters that are represented at my alma mater (Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Chi Omega, Alpha Xi Delta) the badges of guests at our Panhellenic guests at our Convention luncheon (Alpha Gamma Delta, Phi Mu, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi), and those of some IFC fraternities on our campus (Sigma Chi, Delta Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, Theta Chi, Sigma Tau Gamma.)

I've seen all 26. And various stone combinations in the ones that have that option. Some very nice badges out there!
|
I've seen DZ, Alpha Xi, and Zetas badges in person while attending college. I've also seen the PiPhi and DG badges as well.
For the men, I've seen Sig Ep, Delta Sig, and Sig Pi in person that I can remember. (I also "borrowed" a Delta Sig pledge pin. Don't worry, it found its way back to its rightful owner.) |
Sororities:
KD, AOPi, Chi O, DG, ADPi, Phi Mu Fraternities: SAE, Pike, ATO, Delta Chi, Lambda Chi I just realized we also have AKL and I've been here for almost 6 years and haven't ever seen theirs...or at least never paid attention to it since I can't think of what it looks like. I admit to LOVING Phi Mu's...especially the jeweled badges some of my friends have. And I don't know what variations Delta Chi's comes in because all of my friends had a plain badge but I always liked it for its simplicity. |
Sororities: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Phi
Fraternities: Delta Upsilon, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Phi Delta Theta |
I always scour flea markets, estate sales, etc. for DG badges that I might rescue. I've only ever found one. But I've seen a good number of other badges, in pristine to shameful condition. Can't say how many.

I think the only NPC badges I haven't seen are Theta Phi Alpha and Alpha Sigma Tau.
|
I guess this proves I am from the dark ages. All greeks wore their pledge pins and badges to class regularly.

And, I had the advantage of growing up in a neighborhood where literally everyone who went to college was in a GLO! |
Between my alma mater with a large Greek system and a chapter near where I live with a small Greek system, I have seen every NPC badge in person except D Phi E and Theta Phi Alpha. At my alma mater, the men just got the cheapest badge possible. I think I only saw one or two really nice badges during my college years. An acquaintance had a nice badge, but it has been his grandfather's. He was the only one in his chapter with a jeweled badge.

I've probably seen the pledge pins of most of the orgs that were on campus when I was there, as fraternity pledges were required to wear them at all times minus the 4 S's, and sorority new members were "highly encouraged" to wear them similarly, even if you were in a t-shirt and jeans. As for badges, I've seen the badges of all five NPC sororities represented at my school at the time: Alpha Phi, Alpha Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Alpha Theta, and (obviously) Alpha Epsilon Phi. During rush, even if the actives were wearing letters and jeans or whatever, the alums checking us in were in badge attire. As for fraternities, I have seen my sisters' formal dates wear their badges - I can't give an exhaustive list but AEPi and ZBT were among them. I've also seen APO service pins as one of my AEPhi sisters is a brother and I briefly dated a brother. My grandmother-in-law is a Kappa Delta Pi and always wears a pendant with letters. I don't know enough about the organization to know whether that's their official insignia in lieu of a badge or if there's a badge as well. Does Masonic insignia count? My FIL gave my husband a Masonic ring on the occasion of his third degree. My husband gave it to me when he proposed. (Actually he proposed with his class ring, but it was too big even for my middle finger, so he gave me his Masonic ring (a pinky ring) which fit my ring finger just fine. I wore that until we picked out my diamond engagement ring and it came back from being resized.) For a while, DH drove his father's old car, which had a Masonic emblem. He has not placed an emblem on his current car, as I've threatened to put an AEPhi bumper sticker right next to it - but I digress. :) |
I've seen
Kappa Kappa Psi Tau Beta Sigma Chi Omega Tri Sigma Alpha Chi Omega Alpha Epsilon Phi Sigma Delta Tau Delta Upsilon Alpha Delta Phi Phi Sigma Kappa |

My list:
Sororities: Chi Omega Gamma Phi Beta Alpha Xi Delta Zeta Tau Alpha Alpha Phi Alpha Omicron Pi Alpha Delta Pi* Sigma Sigma Sigma* Delta Delta Delta* Phi Mu* Fraternities: Sigma Alpha Epsilon Alpha Epsilon Pi Chi Psi Alpha Tau Omega* Phi Kappa Sigma Pi Kappa Alpha Asterisks denote organizations not on my campus, which seem to be a little bit more of an accomplishment. (Though with 16 IFC fraternities you'd think I would have done a little better!) Quote:
