Michael Jackson Tribute Concert
15 minutes in, and I have but one question:
WHY DOES WHITNEY HOUSTON LOOK LIKE THAT!!! She weighs maybe 90 pounds! That's revolting! Put the pipe down Whitney, put it down! |
MICHAEL!!!!!!
I loved it! I loved it! I loved it! I really did. I couldn't believe the brothers could still move like that! They were sooooo good. Ok. I'm just a big fan.:D
I saw those pictures of Whitney back in September when it was taped. She just needs help.:( What was Monica wearing? They could have done without Rah Digga. Tamia was aglow! Usher and Mya would make a cute couple.:p NSync should have done more. Chris Tucker and Michael at the end were soooo funny. Chris really does kick with the opposite leg. Did anyone notice that?:p Did Luther and Usher forget 98 Degrees was still on the stage with them?:o Destiny's Child was cute. (Oh, my! Did I say that? It must be the after effect of Michael kicking in! I did enjoy their performance though;)) That little Billy Gillman was cute, too. Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh....Michael. :) |

Not only was I wonder WTH Monica was wearing, but WHO did her hair? http://www.plaudersmilies.de/smhair.gif I mean, her stylist needs some SERIOUS counseling! I think they were too busy trying to add diversity to that particular panel, than to realize that Rah Digga messed up the whole vibe of the song! Okay, and was it just me, but WHERE WAS JANET? http://www.plaudersmilies.de/confused2.gif Is she on tour or something? I know Latoya has her fits when it comes to her family, but I thought Mike and Janet were better than that. They flashed Katherine on the screen once, but no other Jacksons were shown. I have never seen Micheal perform live, but this show made me really want to shell out the bucks and see him in concert. http://www.plaudersmilies.de/coolman.gif |
Let's get real, okay! Michael looked totally busted and disgusted. He looks NOTHING like the Michael that we knew during the 70's and the early part of the 80's. I am, however, amazed that he STILL pulls crowds like that. He IS an icon and great performer. And we all know that had it not been for Michael, the rest of the Jackson boys would not have pulled a crowd like that---at ANY time.
Actually, I kinda feel sorry for Michael. He doesn't LOOK happy even with all of his money and fame. The man has serious, serious issues that need to be addressed. I don't know WHAT happened to him, but I do know that it has seriously effected his ENTIRE life. At any rate, I've got to give him props on his new CD. YOU ROCK MY WORLD and BUTTERFLIES are great songs with great beats. I really wish the best for Michael. |
I LOVED IT!!!!!
And, I took notes! ;)
Ok, first off, I'm sad that he looks this way. I agree, he doesn't look happy at all. But that's his issue, not mine. Regardless of how crazy he looks, HE IS BAD!!! He still has it, and I was beside myself with joy last night. :D Now, my notes. Usher and Mya on ropes & flying in the air: that should have been cut. Whitney? Please, please, PLEASE stop it. I want her to be healthy again. She still has a beautiful voice. I'm afraid we are going to hear about her death next. Monica? She looked str8 outta the 80's. Her hair was a mess. What was she thinking? Deborah Cox? Green plastic looking dress? Faux Paux. The Green Hornet. Rah Digga? She's too hard to wear pink tracks in her hair. Tamia? She looked beautiful!!! She stood out up there with them! Marc Anthony? That's my dude, but he got one of the words wrong in the song. Liza Minelli? Three letters: WTF??? The Brothers: They were the bomb, OK?!!!! LOVED THEM!! They still have it, too. Marlon was workin' that torch, wasn't he? LOL! Jermaine looked most unhappy in the beginning. Later on, WTH was he wearing??? End of "I'll Be There," wth was Michael thinking? He never ends songs like that. I had to shake my head at that one, and I hardly ever say anything negative about him. But that was some mess. Why MJJ keep covering the microphone? I think at some parts, he was lip synching (sp?). Then he would sing at the ad lib parts. I was a little unhappy about that. 98 Degrees were back-up singers for Luther and Usher. Usher sho' can move. Whew... Chris Tucker is funny!!!! And yes, soror, I noticed that he really DOES kick with the opposite leg! Destiny's Child: I never have anything to say about them, positive or negative. I just wish they'd go away. But I have to say, I think that they did well last night. All in all, I LOVED IT!!! I wish I could have taped it so I could watch it over and over and over. I will always be a fan. I'm so glad he can still dance like he used to. He was workin it!!! I loved it!!! :) He's back!! :D |
Some Hot Mess and Some Good
I am a fan but not a FAAAAAAAN that will cry, faint, hold my cell out so who ever is on the phone can hear what I paid a lot of money for.
I made a lot of comments last night with Novella and some you all have said but here are some ones you all missed. 1. When the septuplet was singing a. Monica looked like a HMH and a street walker. b. Did y'all peep Jill Scott's little sister who needed the PRESS & CURL. Somebody coulda slapped a JUST FOR ME or MOTIONS FOR KIDS in her head. 2. Uuuuuum USHER  looked like the dang on Lion King singing @ beginning. 3. USHER and LUFFA looked like they were leading PRAISE and WORSHIP last night. I also thought they kicked 98 degrees to the curb as well. 4. LIZA MINELLI SUUUUUUUCKED!! They should have had R. Kelly sing it since he wrote it. 5. USHER danced into MJJ. 6. Chris Tucker was working it just on the wrong leg. 7. N'Sync did a good job though. 8. Marlon was seeking the spotlight cuz where ever Mike went there was Marlon. |

I saw the Delta hat, too! I was like, hey, there's a Delta! LOL :) Yeah, I peeped Usher dance into Mike. Randy did have me hollering with the OPP deal. LOL! |

That OPP was probably a slam @ Jermaine for taking Randy's wife.  |

I saw Usher dance into Mike, too. Yeah, why did Randy go back to OPP? He needed to sit down! LOL. They showed Reggie Miller more than they showed Katherine? Why? Like I told my husband, Liza is a theater singer. She couldn't help herself. Her mama she ain't! I guess Macauley (sp.?) and Mike are still friends. |
I don't care what you say........Marlon is the best looking of those brothers!! IMO of course!!
....I missed Chris Tucker - I fell asleep!!! :( |
IT WAS GREAT!!!
The show was great! I really enjoyed the Jackson's reunion.
This is a rap up of my opinions... 1. Whitney~~ CRACK KILLS! 2. Monica ~~ JUST A HOT MESS WITH THAT HAIR!! 3. Billy Gillium & Mark Antony ~~ There performances were good. 4. Gloria Estefan and James Ingram ~~ I love James Ingram hittin' that high note at the end!! 5. Destiny's Child ~~ I don't like the song, so I will leave it alone. 6. Shaggy and that guy ~~ Good performance... 7. Tamia ~~ Looked wonderful. 8. Rah Digga ~~ What was her purpose? She really could have stayed at home with her kids... 9. Chris Tucker ~~ Funny!! And I also noticed that he kicked with the opposite leg!! 10. And Finally...REGGIE MILLER. With all his money, why doesn't he get his teeth fixed!!! |
Re: Re: Some Hot Mess and Some Good

And didn't y'all know that the reason Liza Minelli was there is because she was the prototype for Mike's change in appearance?? I was noticing that the two looked EERILY alike. Stuff I coulda done without: Whoever the heck that was bouncing around yelling 'OPP', WTF? Whitney, Whitney. Whitney Deborah Cox's bad weave and cheap dress Rah Digga all together THought I was the only one who caught: That when Luther came out, it was as if NOBODY ELSE ON THAT STAGE WAS THERE Usher bumping into Michael! Doh! Luther is gaining back his weight, po baby! He needs to just give Whitney some! Stuff I LOVED: Destiny's Child ROCKED IT Billy Gilman can saaang! I have no idea who he is, but his voice is really wonderful Michael, Michael, Michael. Despite his truly freakish lifestyle he did come through to prove that the man can still do it! N'Sync- but y'all already know that I just looove me some Justin, lol. |

Randy was the one with all that OPP stuff. Little Billy is a country singer! By the way, my sister said she heard one of the brothers on the Tom Joyner morning show (was it Marolon? I forget). He said there would be some show on Thanksgiving day? Does anyone know anything? |
Girl Stop!!!!

For real??? |
Michael is still "da bomb". No matter how he looks, he is as talented as ever!!!!!Other observations
1. Whitney~~ Whitney has always been my favorite female singer, but I hope she can getback to her old self: elegant, beautiful and healthy. 2. Billy Gillman- THAT BOY CAN SANG!!!!!!!!! 3. Gloria Estefan and James Ingram ~~ A wonderful performance. Where has James Ingram been? He is another one that doesn't get enough credit. I'm glad they dragged him out of his hiding place for that performance. 5. Destiny's Child ~~ I just love the fact that Kelly sings lead on this one (even though Beyonce STILL tries to steal the show). Michelle came in a little late on the little bit part that she has....they'll probably take away her 10 second privilege in the next performance 6. Shaggy and RikRok~~ This was RikRok's (sp?) performance. Shaggy did one short verse and a bit of ad lib, punctuated by a little bit of hip rolling. 7. Tamia ~~ Looked absolutely beautiful and elegant as usual. 9. Chris Tucker ~~ He is SO FINE!!!!!!!!!!! I also think he is one of the funniest men alive. Throughout the show, I just kept hoping they would let Chris and Usher go on stage with Michael. 10. N'Sync- not on stage long enough. I wanted an individual performance from them. 11. Luther- Big Luther is coming back y'all. Thats the way most people liked him!!!!!! |
MJJ
Hey y'all I only got a chance to see the first beginning of the show. After DC3 went off I don't know what was happening. But I would like to know WTH was up with Shaggy doing all that excessive pumping and girating. LOL
Whitney:eek:   Everybody in the salon was calling her a stick. She ain't nothing but skin and bones. Dag, she was already bony. You can see he bones. I thought she was going to break any second. NOw y'all better leave Deborah Cox alone. She looked cute out there, and the gal can blow. Rah Digga was alright, but she did get on my nervous a little bit. I guess they were trying to add a little hiphop into the thang. |
Why was Shaggy the only person that didn't do a MJJ rendition? Didn't that defeat the purpose of him performing?
They did show Reggie a lot. Maybe to show he was a fan? Cuz it seemed like str8 randoms in there. You know, regular peeps like you and me? I don't know. |

Plus Shaggy had on an MJJ hat and a red tight shirt like MJJ.

Here's my 2 cents
The whole time I was watching I was thinking......"I know Ideal is eating this chit up!" or " I can't wait to get on GC!"
I don't know what inspired the African motiif(sp) for the beginning, but it was a mess, and Dope Fiene Willona opps I mean Whitney was so damn skinny the straps on her shoes were fighting to stay around ger lil legs. Anytime you can see a woman's knee bones like that you know she could blow away at any moment! I agree the Luffa and Ursher:p forgot all about 98degrees. They tried to get in on the whole thing and the two of them just drowned them out. Mike reinvented a new jawline, nose, and lip color all with modern medicine:( But the man still has it. It felt so good to see him after so long. When you think about it, Mike didn't want Randy to say the whole OPP thing because after he said it the second time Mike tried to stop him and Randy was like..."no, uhh uhh!" Dude needed to sit down with that mess. Tamia looks fabulous! Wouldn't we all wanna glow like that during pregnancy? I have more but I'm not feelin too good:( I'll come back later:cool: |
Boooo!
I only saw like 5 minutes towards the end. The parts I did see, I was totally upset. How in the world did folks spend all that money to watch his "mummy" looking buttocks LIP SYNC? From what I saw on the news, the part where he was up there with his brothers, he could have actually sang live.
Like I said, I didn't see all of it, but what I did see, I was T-totally upset. He still has the moves for a 40-something entertainer, but c'mon, can you SING for us? I'm sorry I didn't see what you all saw. What did Monica sing? Don't get me wrong, Mike is THA MAN. I plan on getting the new CD this weekend, but still... you've been gone for soooooooooooo long, aw well... |
He didn't lip synch. I watched the whole thing, and I saw him repeatedly singing into his mike, holding it so that it would pick up his sound. I know he sang with his bros because he was TOO irritated with that whole OPP thing- not choreographed in there, and somehow I HIGHLY doubt that the brothers mikes would be on, and his wouldn't....
|
When lip synching, yes your mic is to your mouth AS IF you are singing. Normally, in LIVE performances, there is a difference in sound. For instance, when he did Black or White, there was a significant DIFFERENCE in how Michael sounded AND how the guy sounded doing the "rap". The goy performing the "rap" sounded LIVE.
Also, with concerts, why didn't he (from what I saw) ask for audience participation? He continued the songs, there were not ANY interruptions, so to speak. Everything, was "choreographed" for the lack of a better word. What I heard were tracks being played in the background. Yes, he did have a band/orchestra overhead. And....? I don't know, maybe, I'm use to people like Sade, Maze, Jill Scott, Kelly Price, The O'jays, Patti, and others giving me a performance WITHOUT lip synching at a concert. With them, you can TELL without a doubt that they are NOT lip synching. Just because a person stands in front of a crowd, with a mic in his or her hand, and a band "playing" instruments, does not mean that they are actually singing. I didn't see ALL of it, but what I did see, he WAS lip synching. Even if he wasn't ENTIRELY lip synching, he should have had a BETTER sound engineer/technician, because it (the sound) was WACK for ALL the money people had to spend on those tickets! IMO! |
Who's Bad? Michael!!!!
The ratings are in...
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast Affiliate Ratings for Nov. 13, 2001 Michael Jackson and CBS had no problem on Tuesday night slamming the competition with a 14.4 rating/ 22 share in the nightly ratings. NBC was a distant second, 9.4/14, followed by ABC's 7.2/11. FOX managed a 5.5/8, while The WB saw a 5.1/7. UPN rounded out the nets with a 3.5/5. Among adults 18-49, CBS also dominated the night with an 8.7/21, followed by NBC's 5.9/14, FOX's 4.6/11 and ABC's 3.7/9. Even the 200th episode of "Frasier" couldn't compete with Michael Jackson, as the Gloved One dominated all nets from 9-11 p.m. The race was closed in the first half-hour, when the Michael Jackson special scored a 13.3/19 to "Frasier's" 12.4/18, but in viewers it was never close. Michael's moves aren't the same. Half of the time he just walked back and forth. But what can I expect, he's like what...43 years old? Butterflies is still the isht though. No matter what, Michael is still an icon and he is worthy of the recognition. Who in the hell told Rah Digga to come out rapping like a dude? She messed up the entire song. Her voice reminds me of the transvestites on Jerry Springer that try to convice us they are really women. Whitney Houston----a hot mess. Her voice doesn't seem as strong. I was watching Inside Edition and one of the producers said Whitney looked so frail, they had to edit her performance to catch better shots of her. We all see what Whitney has become, no matter what camera angle they give her. Brittney Spears performed, but her performance was cut due to her contract with HBO. Little Billy tore Ben up. I've never heard of him, but he did a great job. I enjoyed James Ingram. I don't think Gloria Estevan can sing so I could have done without her. Lisa Minneli----I definitely could have done without her, my goodness. Between her and Liz Taylor's purple feather boa, I was tooooo through! Luther and Usher performance....well done......who were their background singers? 98 what? I was hoping Janet would make an appearance, but overall it was a good show. |
MJJ In Concert
Well, you all basically commented on everything I would have...While I was watching this all I could think about was "Mom--PLEASE shut up, you're ruining the songs!!!" and "I KNOW my GC Fam is already talking about this..."
Idon't care waht anyone says, Mike IS STILL THE BIGGETY BOMB BAY!!!!!! He's 43 and can still put on a great show...As far as his lyp-synching (sp?) goes, I expected him to start WELL before he did (shoot, at 20 years old I get tired walking on my campus for 20 minutes)... I wanted to cry looking at Whitney...she DEFINATELY looks waaaaayyyy worse than she did on the BET Awards (and on there she looked bad!!!)... Tamia looked beautiful!!!! Monica looked like a broke down hooker--and what was up with the hair?! SOOOO disappointing... Deborah Cox looked like "Gumby", even though she can blow... Rah Digga: Who did her hair, who picked out her clothes...My Mom was like "WHHHYYY are you on the stage?" She served no purpose other than looking horribly tacky and ruining a good song... I wanted to see more of N'Sync... I thought Shaggy was attempting to pay tribute to Mike w/the Swiveling Hips... I peeped Chris Tucker getting his groove on with the wrong foot... Why did my Mother say that Mike likes Usher b/c he reminds her of his pet monkey at home???!!! LMAO!!!! You can definately tell Usher worships Mike, copying ALL MJ's moves in his (Usher's) videos... |
I saw when Usher bumped into Mike too! LOL!
Also, was it just me, or did Luther shut Usher up? It was like they were having a sing off, then Luther did that "thing" that he does and Usher went back to singing back up with whoever that group was. I wonder if they had conflicts over the costumes, i.e. "Now Jermaine, only Michael is going to wear white..." Jermaine's outfit looked like he was trying to upstage Mike. Michael looked scary, but it juts goes to show: money can't buy happiness. I always thought he was trying to look like Liz Taylor. I loved Destiny Child's performance. I know alot of people hate them, but I think they're baaad (**good**). The Billy Jean thing was kind of tight that they did. MJ's Billy Jean performance was nice. People in the audience were just acting a FOOL! Hyperventilating, screaming; Old black men were among the afore mentioned people. I was like "Whoa". I heard tickets sold for about a grand a piece. Over all, it was a nice show. I'd love to see them reunite with all of the Jacksons (the sisters too). I missed the part with Whitney. I thought they'd edited her out. |
