favorite 2011 superbowl ad?
which was your favorite?
|
Hmmm it's hard to pick a number one.
I liked Audi/Kenny G, I liked both Coke commercials, a couple of the Pespi Max and Doritos ones... I just don't think I can pick a top. Didn't think the Jimmy Johns ones hit the mark, or the one with the older people not able to hear or understand the car commercial. Also Eminem's first commercial was fail, but his second one was good, I thought. |
I've only seen the ones that people have posted on Facebook, but I already can tell that my favorite would be the Eminem/Detroit/Chrysler ad, as a Detroiter :)

Audi
VW/Darth Vader All Doritos commercials. |
I liked the Detroit one and the Camaro commercial.
|
I loved the House promo where they rip off the old Mean Joe Green Coke commercial. While it's technically not a commercial, it was by far my favorite.
|
Going to go with Eminem/Detroit/Chrysler.
|
Both of the Doritos commercials (Pug & the Grandpa one)
and the Bridgestone tires (Reply All) commercial |
^^^ Ditto on the Reply All commercial.
I also forgot to include the "Beaver" commercial to my list. |
The Darth Vader commercial was adorable.
I also agree on the Reply All and Grandpa one, too. |
now, see, i did like the nursing home, chevy cruze commercial-it hit home, because i live in south florida, nursing home mecca, and the actors in the commercial were right on point.
i thought that the chevrolet and chrysler commercials were good. i also liked the vw darth vader commercial, but it had been run into the ground by the today show, who began showing it on friday. i also liked the ozzie osborne commercial until beiber showed up, but ozzie pulled it out in the end when he asked "what's a beiber?" |
I loved the VW/Darth Vader one.
I also really liked the CarMax "kid in a candy store" one! |
The Carmax kid in a candy store featured a friend of mine from high school, so that totally made the night for me. I also liked the Bridgestone "reply all" one.
|
I loved the VW/Darth Vader one, the Eminem/Detroit/Chrysler, and the Budweiser Tiny Dancer one.
Hated Kenny G (side eyes at Drole...) |
Nobody liked the Doritoes resurrection commercial?

Ok...I am done! :D And ummm...as far as the movie ads...I liked Fast 5, Pirates, but the Marvel ones.....meh. Transformers....no And NO GREEN LANTERN??? |
I jokingly asked if the movie was "5 Fast, 5 Furiouser" or something, only to find out that we're really on number 5 in the series.
Needless to say, I won't be seeing that film. |

The beaver & Darth Vader.
Most of the rest of the ads were incredibly stupid or lame and didn't make sense. |

ETA: I didn't catch the Groupon commercials until after the game, but I didn't see them as controversial at all. |
I really loved the one for NFL--the one where they showed clips of TV shows with cast members all decked out in their favorites teams gear. I LOVED seeing The Sopranos cast ridiculously decked out in Jets gear. Also thought thought Cleveland from Family Guy wearing a Cleveland Browns shirt was great!
ETA: Ditto on hating the Chrysler/Eminem spot. They showed clips of what appeared to be Chicago (and I'm assuming other clips of other cities) so I didn't get it. ETAA: Maybe not. Apparently, Detroit has a few buildings that look a hell of a lot like buildings here. And apparently, there's also a street named "Congress" too, lol |
I liked the VW one where a weevil beetle was trying to avoid predator insects.
|
Going to go with Eminem/Detroit/Chrysler, what put this ad over for me is because I think Lose Yourself is such a powerful song...its about passion ... so yea, Loved It
Darth Vader/Kid ad... |

The Darth Vader VW commercial was soooo cute. But I seriously enjoyed the Groupon Tibet commercial hehehehe :D
|
Overall, I thought this year's commercials mostly a fail. The only two I liked were the Tiny Dancer one and the one for all of the NFL fans, using tv characters through the ages.
|
I actually liked how Motorola basically used a 1983/4 Apple add for their tablet. i also really thought the House commercial which was a spoof of the Mean Joe Green/Coke ad was great!
VW/Audi and Goodrich were really cute too. Overall, though I really wasn't all that impressed by the commercials. I haven't watched the Super Bowl in years (for the game or the commercials) and the commercials did nothing. . .I also thought there were WAY too many movie previews. |
ever since the matrix trailer for the 99 Superbowl All movie studios have been doing it bigger and "better" trying to hook people.
I know movie trailers were a part of the ad for the superbowl prior...but after that matrix trailer that is when they seem to have "come into their own" |
I LOVED the Doritos Finger Licker! :D
So gross to lick someone else's fingers, but still so funny! |
Darth VW!
|
The Dorito Finger Licker and the Darth VW were the only ones I really liked.
