Auburn or Oregon?
Who is your pick to win the BCS National Championship game tonight?
sound off! |
WAR DAMN EAGLE! GO AUBURN!
|
I think it's Oregon - most of the major stat/forecast sites agree (with notable exception of my favorite, FEI, who has Auburn by 8), and some expect a big number, with Oregon favored by 7+ on some predictions.
The "traditional" thought is that speed doesn't need time to get back into game shape like teams based primarily on line play - and I don't think Auburn's offense is really as ball-control-oriented as some want to think. Stanford's decisive win shows the Pac-10's ranking wasn't just inbred, and Auburn's defense is suspect even by SEC standards. Oregon, btw, shredded both Arizona's and Stanford's higher-rated defenses. I'm pretty sure Auburn will have to score 45 to keep up, which of course they did against a very good SC defense, but failed to do against any other respectable defense this season (unless you want to argue about Arkansas). That's without getting into the massive coaching advantage Oregon should enjoy. |
Oh, that's easy. Auburn. But, I want Oregon to win.
|
Oregon. Go Ducks.
Because I am tired of the SEC chest thumping that goes on. Yeah, they might have good reasons for it, but I'm done with it. |

This is my one Auburn-exception...at 7:30 CT I'll be a temporary Auburn fan. |
Go Ducks!

Go Ducks!

Tigers eat ducks. Go Auburn!

The guys at FO put out their predictions today - both of their college experts took Auburn big. Part of this is based on strength of schedule, which somewhat overrates the SEC this year (especially if bowl games are included), but yeah - should be a fascinating game, nobody agrees except that it shouldn't be close. We just don't know which direction! I'm not sure I've ever seen that.

When I don't have a personal stake I refer my support to schools with Delta Chi chapters, so WAR EAGLE! |

Where is the "I don't give a flyin' fig cuz the Big 10 isn't represented" option? lol

I wish Oregon was the team with the heisman trophy winner. Kind of a disadvantage.
|
Auburn--SEC rules :)
|
^^ Second that. And I really should be asking someone from Auburn but isn't their mascot the Tigers? I've always wondered how War Eagle came into things.

I'm pulling for the Ducks, but I think Auburn will pull it off. |

The Auburn website probably explains the Tiger/War Eagle/Plainsmen thing better than I can.

Of course I want my Ducks to win the day one more time, but the SEC is a great football conference, Auburn's a tough team, and Cam Newton is one of a kind on the field, so I hope for the best...but...
And why am I NOT watching the game....because I am a football curse. Anytime I want one team to win badly, and I watch - they lose...If the Ducks win I will be expecting Chip Kelly to send me a thank you note for not watching. I've actually turned off ALL of the tvs and the phones. This site is currently my only connection with the outside world. |
HELL yes SEC. Despite the abuse I am taking as a Bama fan I am super happy. Oregon played well, though, no one can deny that.
|
So much for "cheaters never win."
|
Cam Newton is over-rated. His line should have been the ones who got a trophy for making him look good all season.
Oregon played an excellent game though. |

^^^^LOL. Think I'll be skipping those. Clearly my "don't watch the game and they'll win" theory has some holes. Have to work on a new system for next year.
Congrats to Auburn. I'm disappointed, but I didn't have my hopes up super high so... Given my team's off-season (hope we don't have a repeat of THAT) and where we started, I'm really proud of them for getting there. I certainly wasn't expecting it in September (Rose Bowl, yes, Nationals, no). Bring on recruiting season! |
