HELP. I ate bad pasta sauce and I'm going through recruitment

Silliness.

FleurGirl 01-07-2011 03:59 PM

Breathe. Month old sauce will not kill you. Go get some Pepto and REST. You're working yourself up girl!

knight_shadow 01-07-2011 04:00 PM

Wow.

nittanygirl 01-07-2011 04:01 PM

Take a deep breath. You're probably making yourself sick just worrying.
Pasta sauce that's a month old (in a jar?) probably is not going to make you sick.

toquader 01-07-2011 04:07 PM

Okay. Thank you. I'm sorry if this seems like a silly post. Recruitment has me extremely on edge 0_0

knight_shadow 01-07-2011 04:19 PM

Again, take a deep breath :)

DTD Alum 01-07-2011 04:43 PM

Hah, the other day I ate deli meat that had been in the fridge for probably a little too long. It was right before I went out for a night with friends. While I was waiting for a friend to pick me up, I could have sworn I was about to get food poisoning...I could feel it starting. By the time I was at the bar I had forgotten about it. I think when you psych yourself out every little stomach grumble and noise from digestion sounds/feels like the oncoming of food poisoning. You'll be fine.

You and every other PNM in the history of the world! Just try to relax and enjoy the experience. :)

I do this all the time. Taking Tums always seems to help, although I suspect it's mostly in my brain. But still, tricking yourself into thinking you're treating it usually helps!

sanjiyan69 01-07-2011 05:30 PM

lol. you will live. pepto is your best friend.

Alumiyum 01-07-2011 06:00 PM

I gotta admit I laughed a little when I saw the thread title.

But as everyone said, you're just psyching yourself out. Take Tums, drink some ginger ale and avoid spicy food tonight.

It would be much less embarrassing for me if it was :) Hooray for overreacting.

DaemonSeid 01-07-2011 06:14 PM

Altho it's rare that I take threads like this seriously, to help you out, I will recommend that you get a box of baking soda (not powder, SODA) and mix ONE TABLESPOON with hot water...drink it straight down. You will probably burp for awhile but it should neutralize the sauce.

you are welcome.

PS ...and don't read the last thread I just created.

AZTheta 01-07-2011 06:15 PM

Seriously, you need to do some meditation or take several deep cleansing breaths or something. You're way over the line on the anxiety meter. It'll interfere with your ability to participate in recruitment much more than the pasta sauce.

And yay! loved Sen's animation; I'm going to use it in a lecture I'm preparing - thanks!

I'm currently going through recruitment and I CAN'T get food poisoning I can't I can't I can't. It's been an hour and I already feel funny. If I make myself sick would this prevent food poisoning? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Pepto.
Feel better, take a deep breath and good luck on your recruitment!

Kevin 01-07-2011 06:35 PM

Drink lots of alcohol to disinfect the blood stream.

Leaches also help.

A momentary freakout and subsequent post doesn't mean that I'm way over the line on the anxiety meter. It just means I had a moment. It happens. I freak out for five minutes and then I'm fine.

It was somewhat valid anxiety though imo - I was indeed feeling sick prior to discovering the pasta sauce mix-up. I'm still feeling nauseated.

My pride is tugging at me to delete this thread but I can laugh at myself. I recognize this was silly.

(just wait til tomorrow when I come back and let you know I have food poisoning :p)

FleurGirl 01-07-2011 06:50 PM

Well, worst case scenario food poisioning only lasts a day or two usually! Honestly I think this thread is funny but also kind of useful - at least other PNMs poking around on GC will realize that they are not alone in feeling stressed out :)

Sorry, but you've posted several times in the past 48 hours on a variety of recruitment-related issues, and I'm not the only one who has noticed and remarked on your anxiety. If you're going to freak out for five minutes, fine. Just don't hit the send button.

LouisaMay 01-07-2011 07:19 PM

toquador...
Don't be embarrassed! Recruitment makes most people nervous. I always get weird-ed out when I eat something "questionable." And when you want to be your best, the worry is even higher. Try to enjoy yourself. As my mom always advises, have a cup of tea.

toquader 01-07-2011 08:47 PM

I appreciate your honesty, as well as the honesty of others who have noticed or remarked on my posts, because it's given me perspective and perspective has allowed me to see that some of these posts have been unwise. I've recognized and admitted this. I've corrected my posts where necessary. I'd appreciate your respect of the fact that sometimes people act unwisely and make mistakes, seeing as how I have admitted my mistakes and corrected my actions. I truly think there's no need for anything other than respect on these forums.

Ok, see here's where you went from acknowledging your mistakes to making them again.

Why shouldn't people respect one another?

Because it's Greek Chat. Really, take some time to read. :D

Lafayette79 01-07-2011 09:34 PM

I had Food Poisoning 8 years ago and was laid up for a week. The doctor in the ER (actually A&E, as it was in Europe), told me that you know that you have real Food Poisoning 20 minutes after eating since you will be in the bathroom.

Since it happened hours ago, the worst you have is an upset stomach and others have given good advice for that and especially for nerves which can be worse.

toquader 01-07-2011 09:55 PM

That was unnecessary. I try hard in my life to to be respectful to others. It's such a basic thing. So if it's a mistake to say that I think people should respect one another, okay.

Alright, may any deity that cares to give me strength, but here goes.

You were really passive aggressive in saying that you'd screwed up BUT OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD BE NICER TO YOU all at the same time. You weren't being disrespected so the tossed in at the last moment comment is a weasely way to avoid responsibility for your own words and actions.

And now you are missing my point which is not that people should not respect each other, but that your commentary was unnecessary and weaseling. So now you're 'offended' that I'm mean and not respecting you and thus have tried to prove your own point. With a "IF IT IS WRONG TO BE ME THEN I DO NOT WANT TO BE RIGHT" flounce, no less.

Color me unimpressed.

You took offense where none was intended. Then, unwisely, you've proceeded to chastise me and another GC member for perceived slights which, in reality, do not exist.

Your antics have crossed the line from mildly amusing to insulting. You would have done well had you stopped at the end of the first sentence in the above quote.

This, of course, assumes that you're not the troll that I suspect you are.

Finished.
