Show me your National Headquarters (pics/photos/video!)
It's Sunday. The snow is coming. I'm bored. So I made this thread.
I wanted a place for folks to share pics of their HQs (if they've been there) since MysticCat and I realized the other day we didn't have a place for that. YAY. |
I'll start:
Mantle all decked out for the holidays: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7542519_n.jpg Tree in the foyer: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7522866_n.jpg |

Out front, my chapter http://i56.tinypic.com/2rfy1c3.jpg Woven rug in the entrance http://i56.tinypic.com/2nk2xwm.jpg Up on the wall |
Yess can't wait to get home from work and post my pictures!!

It's really hard to find pictures of the Zollinger House (SigEp HQ)...
But just like every chapter house, the Zollinger House proudly displays a Red Door. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4061/...a5b3a3edeb.jpg http://www.renimagery.com/images/Img25.jpg http://www.sigepbaylor.com/scrap/zollhouse94.jpg This is pretty much all I can find. |
The building (our HQ's official name is the Mabel Lee Walton House after a past National President):
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3710730_n.jpg Because it is an actual house, chapters can schedule to come down and stay overnight for sisterhood retreats and such. I think that's cool. |

Ooo, I love this thread!
Here are a few pictures (which I did not take) of KKG headquarters. A few years ago I had an opportunity to go but didn't, and I really regret it. I hear it's beautiful. http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...6c069d68da.jpg http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...33/photo-1.jpg Large crest inside http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...33/photo-2.jpg One of the Founder's keys! I believe it is the only one that is known to still exist. I look forward to seeing some more pictures from my sisters - I'm pretty sure LucyKKG has some! |

I didn't take that many pictures, so most of mine are identical to yours. Here is a picture of their fleur-de-lis fence posts: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...2_144831_n.jpg Oldest copy of our ritual: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5482070_n.jpg |

If you are able to discuss, how does that work? Is it honorary such that they have a kind of "duel" membership in their chapter of initiation and the Alpha Chapter? Or do they "transfer" (for lack of a better word) their chapter affiliation to the Alpha Chapter? |
I believe they're seniors at VMI, so they wouldn't have had any other chapter. I remember Kappa Alpha also allowing VMI graduates to join upon graduation.
I have some picture of Delta Chi HQ that I'll need to find... |

The applicants are seniors. Once you're an Alpha Affiliate, you don't lose your affiliation with your original chapter. You simply have two chapters and two badge numbers. |
These are some beautiful buildings. Serioiusly.
Ours isn't as grand as many of these -- it was originally a family home -- but it is indeed "home" to us. Located on the northern outskirts of Evansville, Indiana, the property is called "Lyrecrest," and it consists of 14+ acres with three buildings: the main building, the Robert H. Bray Cottage (a bunkhouse for chapters on retreat or others visiting) and a more recently purchased house called Lyrecrest North. There is also a lake on the grounds. The main building: http://www.sinfonia.org/images/lyrec...09fall-web.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-a...93519_7112.jpg The main building houses fraternity offices, the Sinfonia Store and has meeting rooms in a large lower floor (it be seen to the left of the handicapped ramp -- supposedly it was originally built to house organ pipes for an organ owned by a previous owner). Some historical items are also on display there. I can't find any good pictures of the interior, or of Robert H. Bray Cottage (though you can see it behind the main building in the second picture above)or Lyrecrest North , but here is a picture of one of the items held at Lyrecrest North -- the stained glass that was originally placed over the door of Alpha's Chapter room at the New England Conservatory: http://www.tpg.cc/phimualpha/images/..._light-web.jpg Two cool asides: First, by coincidence the address (10600 Old State Rd) reflecte the day we became a national fraternity by chartering our Beta chapter -- 10-6-(19)00. As an added bonus, Lyrecrest has its own ghost. He is known as "Burr." |

And as a follow up, I suspect that there is some sort of nomination procedure that would take place during the members’ senior year. As such, is the affiliation with the Alpha Chapter at a certain time of the year? Just guessing, but during the spring semester to allow seniors to receive honors and be nominated. Or perhaps after graduation? Again, I understand and respect if this is private. I just find this a nice tradition and a great way to honor your Alpha Chapter. |

As promised some pictures of the inside of Delta Chi HQ, borrowed from a brother's facebook. A fun fact is that the house was build in 1890, the year of our founding, by a man whose name is very special to Delta Chis. (It's purely coincidental - Delta Chis may PM me, but I'm sure you can guess!) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4611549_n.jpg A big set of carved chairs - apparently they were used for the Executive Council at the Centennial Convention. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7873983_n.jpg Large metal Coat of Arms http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2055493_n.jpg This knight has actually been photographed with some cool lighting for our international website. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3056247_n.jpg A napkin signed by the Founders when they got together in Vale in 1891. No, I don't know what possessed them to sign a napkin, and I sincerely hope the Greek letters are in ink and not blood! |

Here's the our HQ in Indianapolis. The first time I was there was before initiation, so there were a few things that I was not allowed to see. Now it's been almost 9 years since my initiation, I'd love to go back and visit again.

I know I posted the doll collection cases in here, but I wanted to let everyone know (who is interested in our doll collection) that our official blog is starting a series called Doll Fridays, where they will post a close-up pic of a chapter's doll and share a little of that chapter's history!
They started last week with Zeta Epsilon (Florida International University!): http://trisigmablog.org/?p=250#more-250 |

Bumping to continue the geeking out I started in the badge trends thread.
At Phi Mu Alpha's National Convention this past summer, an announcement was made that the National Executive Committee has decided the expand to facilities at our headquarters, Lyrecrest, with the building of a new Retreat and Education Center. A capital campaign, the Lyrecrest Fund, was kicked-off at the Convention, and something like $130,000 (of the $1M that needs to be raised over the next 4 years) was donated or pledged by those present before the end of Convention. Here are some architect's drawings of the new facility: https://lyrecrestfund.sinfonia.org/w...r-exterior.jpg https://lyrecrestfund.sinfonia.org/w...nter-porch.jpg https://lyrecrestfund.sinfonia.org/w...r-interior.jpg https://lyrecrestfund.sinfonia.org/w...-classroom.jpg https://lyrecrestfund.sinfonia.org/w...interior-2.gif As I understand it, the Lyrecrest Fund will also provide for some renovations to existing buildings, and I believe that a future second phase may contemplate an auditorium. This just gets me so excited. |

Chi Omega Executive HQ in Memphis, TN opened its doors in January 1994. Our first Executive Office was in Lexington, KY and we spent many years in Cincinnati, OH.
http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps64a99cd0.gif Situated on 1.5 suburban acres, the building has more than 23,000 square feet. Inspired by 18th and 19th century architecture, its design incorporates elements of English-Georgian and Jeffersonian. The building's three floors include a foyer opening into a two-story main gallery, archival display, vault, library, staff offices, boardroom, meeting/training space, kitchen and lounge areas, overnight accommodations for travelers on Chi Omega business and our Chi O Creations Boutique. The landscaping uses the wooded lot's natural setting and includes a gazebo and myth garden. |
