Elizabeth Edwards has passed away

Elizabeth Edwards chose to stop her cancer treatments and passed away at the age of 61.

Story here: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/405370...-today_people/

I was reading about this yesterday. I didn't know she was that ill.

RIP :(

groovypq 12-07-2010 06:09 PM

What a classy woman. She was dealt a tough hand many times over, but faced it all with grace. Rest in peace.

Kappamd 12-07-2010 06:15 PM

RIP Elizabeth Edwards.

It amazes me that she passed so quickly after they chose to stop treatment (I think last week). It was the same with my mom.

May she find her peace.

AOII Angel 12-07-2010 06:21 PM

What a sad, sad story. I hope she was at peace and with family at the end. I can't even imagine living out my last days in such a public and disgraceful way that her husband put her through.

My wife was saying the same thing. I had to remind her, that Cancer is only slow when you are trying to fight the disease. Same happened with members of my family and friends, after they ended treatment it was quick.

A classy lady who held her head high despite her husband being the scum of the earth.

You will be missed, Ms. Edwards.

Her poor children.

He had better not marry the bimbo.

It really just depends on how bad she was when they decided to stop treatment. When the doctor said that there was nothing else they could do for my mom, he said that once she started "hospice" care, it would only be 24-48 hours. That was emphysema though, not cancer. When they were saying on the news this morning that her family were all with her, I figured it wouldn't be long.

I just heard yesterday that Ellizabeth wasn't expected to live long - and thought, "Wow, she looks great for giving up treatment!" But maybe it was an old clip.

She always seemed so gracious and energetic on the campaign trail - what that must have cost her physically. May she finally have peace.

When I saw on WRAL.com last night that her health had deteoriated, I knew it wasn't going to be long.

She was such a strong and inspirational woman. She did a lot for the state of North Carolina. She will be so very, very missed!

Don't know how reliable this is, but supposedly the bimbo has been planning the wedding while John sat at Elizabeth's bedside: http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ing.html?cat=2

If that's true, sick f***ing bitch.

Munchkin03 12-08-2010 11:55 AM

That doesn't sound very reliable to me...

In a photo of her from September, she still looked pretty good. I suspect that the family knew this was a long time coming and didn't want to have a "deathwatch" by announcing that it was only a matter of time weeks ago. Also, while she died yesterday morning, the family spokesman didn't release a statement until early evening. That way, they avoided the circus and got to have that last time together privately. I can't imagine what they're all going through.

Ditto this! She was a very nice lady who obviously loved her family.

Westboro Baptist Church is going to protest at her funeral.

Eightisgreat 12-09-2010 06:21 PM

My heart breaks for her children. Despite what this church feels their rights are (and they are certainly entitled to freedom of speech....although people should reference Peggy Post before doing so) Elizabeth Edwards' children deserve the freedom to mourn in peace.

As a young woman of the Christian faith, Westboro Baptist's decision to protest Elizabeth Edwards funeral makes me sick. This poor woman was forced to deal with the death of her child, the PUBLIC infidelity of her husband, and cancer, and remained a very shining example of a strong, independent woman. I have always remained a fan of Ms. Edwards, regardless of my political affiliation, simply because she always stood up for what she believed in, regardless of the situation. She worked hard for healthcare reform, particularly after her diagnosis. Westboro Baptist is merely looking for attention it does not deserve, and in the process, ruining the memory of a wonderful woman. Ms. Edwards, thank you for your years of service to our country and being such a great role model as a woman leader.

<end rant>

Here is another article about "why" they are doing this.

They are doing it because people haven't learned to ignore them yet.

WTF??

So if your child dies, you're supposed to go into hiding? This "statement" makes no sense. Not that I expected it to.

Exactly. Thank you.

WBC doesn't have the power to ruin her memory. Only people who take WBC seriously can allow it to that, and since SFAIK only WBC takes WBC seriously . . . .

Dr. Phil is right. I'd love to see the media agree to stop covering them.

honeychile 12-10-2010 03:21 PM

Recently, when a hometown boy became a military casualty, and the WBC said they'd be there, the entire town got up early, and completely encircled the town, not allowing them to enter. Would that more places would do that.
