Classy members

After reading through recruitment stories for a couple of years now, there are two Greekchat members whom I have come to immensely respect. Here's to you FSUZTA and ELLEBUD. Perhaps it's because you have daughters who have recently gone through recruitment (on both sides) and you understand the mindset and emotions of 18 and 19 year old young women (women this age are NOT always reasonable and put together!) Both of you show maturity and class that is often severely lacking with other frequent posters at this site (uh ummm 33girl, VandalSquirrel) Ladies, let's remember YOU are adults.

QFP

Wow. What a bitch.

33girl 09-13-2010 12:58 PM

This is the same stupid heifer that called one of her own sorority's chapters weak and couldn't wait to call out another chapter.

Honey, if you think your actions have been the least bit "classy" you must have a different dictionary than the rest of us.

agzg 09-13-2010 01:02 PM

Seriously? You seriously needed to post this?

I'm going to ask, at this point, if you want to bash certain members of this forum, kindly keep my sister's name out of your proverbial mouth.

Posting a backhanded slam thread is certainly not adult behavior, is it?

Shut up, bitch.

However, it's cool that this bitch was blatant instead of being passive aggressive.

MysticCat 09-13-2010 01:19 PM

I have the greatest respect for both ellebud, FSUZeta, 33girl and VandalSquirrel. But the irony of this thread is epic.

Pot, I'd like to introduce you to Kettle.

This couldn't have been done in a PM? While I agree that FSUZeta and Elle give great advice, so do a lot of others, including 33girl and VS. To post something like this... I have no words besides -

"Well, bless your heart!"

Co-sign on all points.

If one could die of irony, the OP should start getting her affairs in order.

agzg 09-13-2010 01:27 PM

To be completley honest, posting compliments to one or two people in a thread where you're also bashing one or two people doesn't just reflect poorly on the OP - unfortunately, if this thread wrecks itself further posters may just start associating FSUZeta and ellebud with it, something I'm sure they wouldn't want and something that really shouldn't happen.

I really don't understand why people don't realize that while we're constantly reminded that we're a reflection of ourselves and our organizations, that when we post anyone's name we're also a reflection of that person (who we choose, either passively or actively, to associate with).

Like, I can't say "OMG I LOVE MYSTICCAT AND IRISHLAKE BUT THAT TRIDELTA ALUM IS A REALLY BIG JERKHOLE AND CERTAINLY DOESN'T ACT LIKE AN ADULT," start a train-wreck thread about it, and think that that's not reflecting somewhat poorly on MysticCat and IrishLake (names used for relative proximity to this post - all image damage is therefore unintentional and incidental).

Just food for thought, really. I mean, my online username persona can go to hell for all I care but I'd rather not take others down with me (certainly not those whose posts I enjoy reading).

ETA: It's threads like this that make me REALLY miss nittanyalum a whole heck of a lot more than normal.

I disagree. As far I am concerned, it only reflects on the OP. It doesn't even reflect on the organization the OP claims to be a member of.

Yup.

ColdInCanada11 09-13-2010 01:44 PM

Besides being completely immature and out of line, how is this in anyway "Recruitment" related??

APhi4Ever 09-13-2010 01:48 PM

I don't post much but this thread should just be closed or moved IMO.

Because we have to be mindful of what we say when talking to other adults!

AZTheta 09-13-2010 01:52 PM

*cringe*

This thread, IMO, is an embarrassment, considering that we are in the thick of recruitment all over the United States and Canada. You all know that I'm totally about Panhellenic spirit and sisterhood, and that extends to my NPHC friends as well.

My opinion: I do NOT want any parent or PNM reading this, I just don't. It's not right. Can it go away? Yell at me if you guys want to, I can take it, but I'm saddened by this thread. It's NOT what I believe the NPC represents.

You can think whatever you want, but there are many thoughts that need to stay inside your head. Even I know that.

*shakes head, expression of horror*

AHEM! :mad::p

But I agree -- there was really no point to this thread.

agzg 09-13-2010 01:55 PM

On the bright side, it does show that even as adults not everybody gets along? :D

AZTheta 09-13-2010 01:56 PM

k_s, you mad at Me? oh no. very sad now. I love my DST friends, I've said so a lot of times, & I know other NPHC members, they are amazing. Did I forget to mention something? Let me know & I'll fix it right away, seriously.

& agzg, there you go, always finding the pony in the pile of manure... :p

In the grander scheme of things, parents opinions should only matter for K-12. PNMs who read this thread and take it to heart are too dumb to be in a GLO.

PST - k_s's fraternity is a member of the NLAFO.

I was going to make a joke about Millers and Portokalo's all being fruit but... meh. I had to work too hard to get there and wasn't sure if anyone would get the reference.

This thread is worth something. We now know that k_s's org is NIC.

In light of that news, I can think of jokingly offensive phrases for N.I.C., but I shall not.

tinydancer 09-13-2010 05:02 PM

At least some GC members provided some humor.

The OP was way out of line and the post just made me sort of sad. Sure, I don't get along with everyone, but she called out some people I like. It was just uncalled for in general.

KSUViolet06 09-13-2010 05:31 PM

Geez, you make a grocery store run for your grandma and you miss all the fun. Thanks a lot Granny. lol.

Yeah, you're all about being classy. Talk about being a public embarrassment to your organization. Who's the "adult" now?

Anyone who was obviously intoxicated was not allowed to board the bus. He also said that there were sorority members at the formal who were closely watching what was going on and he knows of at least one girl and her date who were sent home in a taxi at their own expense. I would imagine that most sororites would have a system like this in place (althought clearly Pi Phi did not).

My son's girlfriend who is in a sorority at Miami told me that none of the three chapters on suspension at Miami will be able to participate in recruitment until their suspensions have ended.

And both of my boys have said this is typical behavior from this chapter.

preciousjeni 09-13-2010 05:59 PM

Where'd the OP go? She should come back for a chat!

agzg 09-13-2010 08:08 PM

I feel like we have one of these threads once a year.

Cue OP coming back saying she's received lots of supportive PMs and has been in touch with all of our nationals and they are ASHAMED OF US.

VandalSquirrel 09-13-2010 08:13 PM

Thank you for being so into me you made a point of listing my name! I don't even know who the hell you are but obviously you're enamored with me enough to make a thread! I find it to be an honor that I was listed with 33girl, as she's a really awesome person and I accept that compliment wholeheartedly.

How many glass swans are you going to have for sale? I'm thinking with the amount of sand you have in that area your etsy store is going to be chock full of them.

Love to all you peeps, and if I had received a PM I would have shared it, but this is so nice that everyone saw it before me.

Oh and if you want to throw the shade, be sure you can catch it, because in this instance you're Marcia Brady and you're never going to be a teen model.

FleurGirl 09-13-2010 08:33 PM

This thread is such a shame -- to give such a nice compliment and then turn around and ruin it is just unfortunate. I have so much respect for my Panhellenic sisters (and other GLO members as well!), and I hope people realize that all the NPC orgs are ultimately after the same thing, and that is to improve the lives of their women in their college years and beyond. It's just sad to see the lack of respect for other board members and the lack of Panhel love in this post. GreekChat is a great resource for sisters, alumnae, and PNMs, and I hope the petty comments like this can be left in the past so we can continue to be the awesome bunch of people we are :)
