Another UGA Story
I know, I know... you thought you'd gotten rid of me for another year... but I've got a late update on a UGA story and it's a good one. I thought about just tagging it onto my other UGA thread, but since I already revealed the code for that one that would just be no fun.
HOUSES: Dexter Deb Laguerta Harry Masuka Batista Rita Astor Cody Quinn Doakes Lundy Miguel Arthur Christine Briggs Matthews Suzie PNM was so excited to meet the members of all of the houses. She truly thought they were all gorgeous, though after round one she had some clear favorites: Dexter Masuka Batista Quinn She just felt extra comfortable and at home at those houses and especially hoped for an invite back to at least one of them. |
hooray!! just when we thought all the presents had been opened, we find another one under the tree......
|
FSUZeta, that's exactly how I felt, too. :)

I'm kind of partial to the UGA stories, myself... :)

Round Two Invites
Suzie PNM was a tad shocked when she received her round two invites:
Deb Christine Briggs None of her top 3! She didn't dislike any of them during the first round, but she didn't really feel a connection at any of them either. While Suzie knew it would be tough to get lots of invites as a transfer without lots of friends in the houses, she didn't expect such a steep cut after round one. However, Suzie knew she needed to suck it up and attend the parties, hoping to find a new favorite among her options. |
wow-that would certainly be a blow to most egos. good for suzie putting on her big girl panties and dealing with it!
|
Sad News for Suzie
After visiting all three houses during round two, Suzie PNM just didn't feel any connection to any of the three. She enjoyed the tours and again thought the houses were totally gorgeous, but she just didn't feel any pull toward the girls themselves. Suzie just really felt drawn to her initial favorites and decided to drop out of recruitment.
(Duh, of course there will be more. I only post happy endings.) |
Dont make us wait!
|
When Suzie decided to drop out of recruitment, she was told that another option would be COB after recruitment ended. It was explained to her that not all houses would be at total after recruitment, so some might have some "extra spots" to fill. She stayed on the COB list, and sure enough she received an invitation from QUINN to attend an event after recruitment was over (one of her recruitment group friends had pledged Quinn and knew she would be really interested). She was ecstatic... this was her second chance to be a Quinn!
She attended a few Quinn events and just felt totally at home with the Quinn girls. She just had to cross her fingers and hope for a bid... |
okay so this is the giant present that is filled with a million graduated boxes, right? so that is why we still have not found out where this pnm ends up, right?
|
I wrote a rec for a girl who had a similar recruitment outcome, at least so far. I feel soooo bad for her. COB will definitely be available, so I'm really hoping the best for her.
|
Of Course
Suzie PNM was beyond thrilled to accept a bid to QUINN!
Quinn is otherwise known as... DELTA GAMMA! See, I said it was a good story. ;) |
hooray!!!! how wonderful for her(and you, too!)
|
Any indication why she was cut so hard (including from Quinn) initially? Was it just a tough year all around on South Milledge?
Obviously, I know you're not going to delve into the dark world of Membership Selection, but if one of the houses that cut me after round one then offered me a bid, I'd be...perplexed. |

They also invited her back for COB after her friend pledged there. I am certain that having a friend in the house when going through COB put her more at ease and helped the girls to get to know her. So it's not like they cut her round one and then gave her a snap bid or something... she essentially went through a second recruitment. |

Basically: the more popular chapters can invite fewer girls back, in all the rounds. If they misfire with their choices, it's very possible they can end up not making quota. Most of the chapters are not cutting as in "I don't want that heffa in my sorority" - it's more like "I would like to have this girl in my sorority, but she fulfills 95% of the things we want and another girl fulfills 97%." Obviously I say this not having clue one what DG's standing is in the UGA pecking order. |

Plus, the chapters do a pretty substantial ranking list, don't they? I'm presuming they had their list of 200 girls (or whatever) that they could invite back and then a - don't they call it a flex list - of maybe another 100 or 200? Which would mean she was not cut at all. She just didn't rank high enough. I bet a lot of the girls who are quiet end up falling through the cracks this way. There's nothing WRONG with her; she just doesn't stand out enough to make it high enough on the list.
|
I'd say it was because she was a transfer student and upperclassman. So happy it worked out for her though! The UGA DG chapter has a great reputation as the good girls on campus! So refreshing! Loved the story! :)
Does anyone know if UGA has an upperclassmen quota? |
Yayy a DG ending!! Glad she was able to find a new home in the end :)
