I don't know why, but I really have been wanting quesadillas and kettle corn lately.

PrettyBoy 09-06-2010 03:21 AM

I wouldn't mind a nice bowl of hot chitlins right about now, sprinkled with some hot sauce.

I just had some kettle corn (micro) and it was a fail. The kind at the mall is better.

I'm not craving anything in particular but I just want to eat something to make up for my kettle corn fail. :(

PiKA2001 09-06-2010 04:45 AM

I want a gyro, a real one made with delicious little lambs.

ree-Xi 09-06-2010 01:29 PM

Thanksgiving dinner. And no, Boston Market's turkey is nothing like what I make at home. Mmmmm.....

PrettyBoy 09-06-2010 08:53 PM

I don't know why, but movie popcorn sounds good, right now.

cheerfulgreek 09-07-2010 04:39 PM

I just have a craving for food, it's just that I don't know what I want to eat.

LucyKKG 09-07-2010 04:45 PM

I want something spicy!

christiangirl 09-07-2010 05:34 PM

I just got a hankering for sushi. It's not a craving in my stomach, I just can't stop thinking about it.

*noms sushi*

pearlbubbles 09-07-2010 06:33 PM

I've been wanting oyster crackers for about a week now, so I bought them at the store yesterday and ate them with tomato soup today. They were amazing!

Not the same =(

They don't serve the biscuits? They're one of the best reasons to go to KFC! Do you need a care package?

nittanygirl 09-07-2010 09:59 PM

Aww Jen :( That is so sad. I considered KFC for dinner just for the biscuits tonight.

I'm really craving a dill pickle. Enough that I'm thinking about going and buying some.

cheerfulgreek 09-14-2010 03:56 PM

Calamari sounds like a winner. Really, I would like to eat some at Mongolian BBQ. I love that place, because of the sea food and salad. I don't know which is worse, craving something, not knowing what you're craving. Or, craving something you know you don't have enough time to eat.

angels&angles 09-14-2010 04:04 PM

I have been alternately craving and making caramelized onions. I'm still not great at them, they're either undercooked or burned. But I'm getting better.

What are those? I mean, I know they're onions, but caramelized? You mean as in caramel? Like caramel apples?

Tulip86 09-14-2010 04:11 PM

I'm really craving the cookies from Subway... but they don't sell them here, nor anything like them.. Sad!

They are just called caramelized because the cooking brings out the natural sugars in an onion. They are essentially sauteed to a nice brown finish, usually in olive oil.

I miss carmelized onions so much that now I want to cry.

lol
And here I was thinking that they're dipped in caramel, like apples. Sounds good, though.

AGDee 09-14-2010 07:10 PM

I think I have to flounce from this thread and from any mentions of DD. :( All these foods I love and either can't have or can't digest.

Now I'm missing salad too.

Preston327 09-14-2010 07:29 PM

I want some sushi from this place we went to for a brother's 21st. I used to hate sushi, now I'm addicted.

LucyKKG 09-15-2010 01:18 AM

Mmmm carmelized onions...I freaking love onions. You just have to cook them with a lot of butter or olive oil at medium temp for a bit then leave it on low-ish for a long time and stir occasionally.

christiangirl 09-15-2010 02:20 AM

I had a serious Crunch Berries craving for a the last few days and finally just satisfied it. I will probably reload that bowl in a bit. :)

jdrama 09-15-2010 02:22 AM

I just ate pretzels and dipped them in my bffs cake icing...
YUM!

ThetaDancer 09-15-2010 01:40 PM

For the past 3 days, I have been thinking about Koala Yummies!

I probably last ate those little delights when I was like, 10, so I have no idea where this craving came from or if I'd even actually like them now. I don't even know if they still make them.

I remember those. They're rare but can occasionally be found; grocery stores with an imports section might be able to special-order them.

Psi U MC Vito 09-21-2010 01:08 AM

I really really want some bacalitos now.

Tulip86 09-21-2010 05:16 AM

Seriously craving cononut macaroons... I think I'll make some..

IrishLake 09-21-2010 08:30 AM

This morning, I was jonesing for a McDonalds griddle cake sammy. I tossed the egg, cheese and sausage and only ate the hotcake part. It was yum!

This thread reminded me of the weirdest cravings I've ever had. When I was pregnant, I used to get the weirdest cravings! Like, the thought of eating chicken made me want to puke, and the smell alone did make me puke, but I wanted KFC fried chicken skin soooooo bad. My husband, who usually is a food nazi, was kind enough at the time to go out and get me KFC, peeled off the breaded skin for, saved the meat for his lunch the next day, as well as a jar of marchino cherries (gone in one sitting), and a strawberry pie (had to look all over our little town before finding a mini-one at a Frisch's, they were out of season). Then later on, when I was 9 months along, I was out in the field with a drilling crew. We were drilling through some shallow bedrock, and there were ancient piece of limestone coming up. I wanted to eat the limestone chips. I didn't consume them, but I sucked on the rocks for a while. I was apparently lacking in some mineral!

I'm wondering if this is the same thing as bacala (I don't even know if that's how you spell it, my Italian is awful) which is an Italian dish we usually have on Christmas Eve. I think it's cod...

Anyway I've been on the strangest applesauce kick lately - I didn't like it when I was a kid, but I've had applesauce almost everyday for the past two weeks. It came out of nowhere.

It is. The actual word is bacalao which means salted cod fish. Bacalitos is a special way of making them. Essentially you shred the fish, dip the pieces in batter and deep fry them. It's sooooooo good.

the state fair of texas just opened on friday and they have lots of new fried foods this year. i will be trying some of these next week!

fried frito pie, fried beer, fried s'mores pot-tart, fried frozen margarita, fried club salad, fried chocolate, fried lemonade, and fried texas caviar just to name a few.

last year they had green goblins, fried butter, (oprah's favorite when she came down), twisted yam on a stick, fried peaches and cream, fried pecan pie, fried pork chips, jalapeno corn dog shrimp, and fried peanut butter cup macaroon. talk about a heart attack!
