Celebs Bonded Through Sisterhood

Are Sims and Garner Sorority Sisters?
Star Sorority Sisters

http://wonderwall.msn.com/movies/sta...lery?gt1=28135

I love this. :D

DrPhil 08-24-2010 09:29 AM

 @ the only NPHCer being an honorary AKA (by the name of Alicia Keys)

Oh well. Who else did they miss, NPHC and otherwise? :)

Senusret I 08-24-2010 09:40 AM

This is the worst website ever. (navigation-wise)

I say that every day that msn tells me there's a cool celeb "article" on that website.

This "article" was just a matter of clicking the arrows, though. :)

Munchkin03 08-24-2010 10:12 AM

Seriously, they couldn't get a better AXO rep than freaking Danity Kane girl? WTF? I would have preferred Condolleezza!

DrPhil 08-24-2010 10:16 AM

I would've preferred Condoleeza.

Perhaps they wanted the "fun" of Danity Kane rather than the often trashed politics of someone from the Bush administration?

Who else did these folks leave out? :) I'm trying to think of NPHCers that the mainstream celeb media cares about.

Jada Pinkett Smith maybe?

Yeah.

Darn...that's it? LOL.

Senusret I 08-24-2010 10:28 AM

I am really trying to think of MAINSTREAM celebs here.... and so few are college educated AND mainstream.

Is Hill Harper mainstream?

Is Rudy Huxtable still relevant?

My Soror hates it when people call her Rudy. :)

I say Harper and Pulliam are relevant to us and I'm going to make them relevant to the mainstream. :) Would this be a good time to continue to dispel the Morris Chestnutt is a Sigma myth? :p

Senusret I 08-24-2010 10:33 AM

RUDY is lucky anyone calls her at all lol

DrPhil 08-24-2010 10:34 AM

:(

Tyler Perry saved her career.

GTAlphaPhi 08-24-2010 10:38 AM

Jada Pinkett Smith is also honorary.

There's no excuse for not mentioning well-known entertainers (for these examples, just personalities of the stage, screen, and soundwaves, since that's who the article seems to be focusing on) who actually joined their respective NHPC groups during college.

Alpha Kappa Alpha
Phylicia Rashad
Wanda Sykes
Star Jones

Delta Sigma Theta
Keshia Knight Pulliam
Natalie Cole
Roberta Flack

Zeta Phi Beta
Sarah Vaughn

Who doesn't know who these people are?!?

edit: Looks like everyone beat me to it with Keshia Knight Pulliam. I don't care how long the Cosby Show has been off the air -- I will always think Phylicia Rashad is relevant!

The world of celebrity often boils down to being pretty and popular, so it's no wonder that many famous ladies out there started out as sorority girls. And as you freshman girls decide whether to rush or not this fall, keep in mind that education may come and go, but pledging a sorority is forever. Or something.
That paragraph made me http://www.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/think.gif

DrPhil 08-24-2010 10:56 AM

That's a horrible paragraph.

On second thought, I'm glad that the only NPHCer is an honorary named Alicia Keys.

Never. We will claim Morris until it is true.

Alicia didn't start out, so this article is pretty much null and void.

As for NPHCers its gonna be hard these days to find non-honorary members.

You ain't neva lied! I watched The Brothers again last night and was reminded of his wonderfulness.

Go away, BluPhire, we're gonna find non-honoraries. LOL.

sigmahn173 08-24-2010 12:23 PM

They missed Carrie Underwood, she's Tri Sigma.

There are hundreds of Greeks who are celebrities. :p

This list only highlighted 15

They weren't concerned with "which Greeks are celebrities" but instead "which celebrities are Greek." :p Specifically sorority women who are relatively attractive and recognized by many readers.

I was more intrigued that MSN did this and wanted people to comment on which MSN-recognizable celebs were left off. Carrie Underwood is a good one.

Munchkin03 08-24-2010 12:48 PM

How could anyone forget Sheryl Underwood, the Zeta Phi Beta Supreme Basileus? :D

DrPhil 08-24-2010 12:52 PM

Ya'll quit talking about my frat brother like that.

(He's frat...he just don't know it yet.)

LOL

Senusret I 08-24-2010 07:44 PM

So wait.... Malik Yoba IS a Sigma, right?

I'm getting all the chocolatey bros mixed up.

Sidenote -- Clifton Davis from Amen is now an Alpha.

Senusret I had no role in the making of Clifton Davis.

33girl 08-24-2010 10:21 PM

Did you know Clifton Davis wrote Never Can Say Goodbye?

He did. It's true.

DrPhil 08-25-2010 12:29 AM

Thanks, 33girl. I never knew he was a songwriter before he reached fame as an actor. That prompted me to read his wikipedia page.

They were rockin' it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snihdG1rE0Y

Malik Yoba is a Sigma. Once upon a time that was in question as well.

http://www.pbs1914.org/notable_sigmas/

I'm glad nationals finally posted the list on the website.

At one time every African President was frat according to which chapter website you went to.

Well I wish y'all would do what y'all need to do and close that deal. My plan was to pop up at Conclave and get introduced (via my Sigma connections;)). Y'all messing things up for me.:(

AOII_LB93 08-26-2010 12:58 PM

Granted it was loooong before my time as a teacher but Mr. Chestnut graduated from the school where I teach! If he ever comes back for anything I'll be sure to take many pictures to make you all jealous. :P
