Thanks for all the support! Just to clear up..it probably seems like I'm from MA, but not necessarily. And northeast doesn't mean the school Northeastern, either. You'll find out soon enough, though! I cannot wait to post my story. I hope it's a good one :)!

Just a small update! Yesterday, I was able to talk to a bunch of girls in Greek life at my university! Everyone was SO nice and even though some were in certain sororities all had nothing but lovely things to say about the other 6. It was really reassuring and just made me feel really great about my decision to rush :)!

Hello, all! Today was a pre-rush/recruitment event for those of us rushing and I LOVED it. Each sorority had a table with a display outside in a quad at my school and I was able to meet with each one and ask questions. I’m going to post what my first impressions of each sorority was. Also, just a note, I don’t think they call our group leaders anything special other than “leader.” It works the same way here, you find them and aren’t aware what sorority they’re in..all that good stuff! I wasn’t able to visit 1 sorority (Hermes) because I did not have time. Since it was just a pre-rush event, I’ll be able to get to know them more on Thursday (rush beings). Overall, my impressions of each sorority were pretty good, but some stood out in my mind. Here we go..

Apollo- My impression of Apollo was AMAZING. This was the first sorority I checked out and I even went back to their table again to know more. The girl talking to me was so nice and we talked about different things for about 20 minutes! We really clicked and I enjoyed them the most.

Athena- Well, Athena did not give me a great impression. I introduced myself to a girl, shook her hand and then she literally said, “Umm..well..uhhh, I’m not really sure what to do..let me find someone who can tell you stuff..” The conversation seemed kind of forced and really not enjoyable.

Zeus- I also really loved Zeus. The girl I talked to was so nice and friendly. I only heard rumors and things about this particular sorority, but I chose to ignore them and went in with an open mind. I’m so happy I did. I talked to one girl for a while and others from the group kept coming up to me and introducing themselves. They just seemed very natural and friendly.

Poseidon- This group did not leave an impression that I remember that well. I talked to the girls a little, but none really seemed interested. The girl I talked to kept looking away and wouldn’t really look me in the eye. I can’t really base my impression of 1 girl, but I wasn’t exactly thrilled.

Chaos- LOVED them, too! Chaos was very nice and friendly and all the girls seemed very excited for recruitment. I talked to a few different girls in this group and all were delightful. It was nice not to talk about just strictly sorority things like rush and how nervous everyone is. I was able to talk about my hometown, fashion and a ton of things. I really like them.

Aphrodite- This group was pretty nice, too! I talked to 2 girls who really seemed to be proud of their organization. The girl who shook my hand, though practically broke it! Haha! Otherwise, the conversation flowed and was not forced. It was a good experience.

Hermes- Unfortunately, I did not meet Hermes. I’ll be sure to tell you more about them when recruitment starts.

Based on first impressions, my rankings so far are..

1. Apollo
2. Chaos
3. Zeus
4. Aphrodite
5. Poseidon
6. Athena
Hermes-unranked.

The timing doesn't exactly line up with my school, I think people move in this week. Oh well.

Since Artemis is my favorite greek goddess, I'll root for her twin- Apollo! Cant wait to hear more and I hope everything goes well :)

Hey hey! So, I skipped my orientation day (last night) because it really wasn’t a big deal. I just met with my group leader and girls in my group. At my school we visit the girls in different large rooms in 1 building. There were only 12 or 13 other girls in my group. Everyone’s super nice. Now onto the good stuff! I had my first day of RUSH. I can honestly say I LOVED it and had such a hard time ranking. Here’s the scoop in the order I visited them..

Aphrodite- This was my first group, so I was a little nervous. As soon as they opened the door my nerves went away. Their chant was adorable and I met one girl and talked to her the whole time. She was a little awkward at first, but eventually we found common ground and had a really nice conversation! I liked them.

Athena- In my last post my impression was not very good, but it totally changed! I was bumped a few times in the beginning, but then talked to a girl for a really long time. She was SO nice, as well as everyone else in this group. I really loved their whole vibe and felt good here.

Apollo- This was one of my favorites. Their song and cheer immediately got stuck in my head. The knew a few girls in this chapter already, but I didn’t get a chance to talk to them because I was too busy chit-chatting away with others! The conversation was amazing and we didn’t just talk about the typical stuff like “what’s your major?” “how are you feeling about Greek life?” lalala. The girls seemed so interested and I really felt at home.

Poseidon- This group was pretty good. Not as great as the others, but it was nice. I was rushed by 1 girl the whole time. Like the last time I met with them, my memory of them still isn’t THAT strong. I just remember the girl talking about other things that were kind of irrelevant as opposed to things I wanted to know.

Zeus- This group was also great! I was rushed by 1 girl and the conversation flowed so naturally. I felt like I knew her forever because we talked about so much! She was a founding member of the sorority and it’s grown so much since then. It was nice to see someone with so much pride.

Hermes- I wasn’t able to meet them at the pre-recruitment event, but I don’t think that would’ve boosted their impression. I was bumped once and I just didn’t really get any sort of vibe from them. They were nice girls, but a little too granola for my taste. It just didn’t feel right for me.

Chaos- They say “save the best for last” and in this case that statement is totally true! As of right now, this is the sorority I want to be apart of. The girl who rushed me was absolutely amazing how much we had in common was INSANE. I’m in an individualized major at my school (aka make your own major), and I had yet to meet anyone in my major until I met this sorority! The girl who rushed me ended up being in the same individualized major AND wanted to do the same things with it as I do. I felt so at home, they were so laid back and I felt immediately at home. I LOVE THIS SORORITY.

That’s basically it, I had to rank them 6 #1’s and 1 #2. The 2 is the one I would drop. This is how I ranked them on my card..

My 2nd round I had a full schedule (6) and was invited back to all I wanted, except Athena. In the third round, I was dropped by all my top choices (Chaos, Apollo, Zeus) and was invited back by Hermes, Aphrodite and Poseidon. I ranked them 1. Poseidon, 1. Aphrodite 2. Hermes. This was the 3rd time I tried to drop Hermes. I had such a LONG weekend and today is bid day. I was invited to Aphrodite and Hermes (ugh) for bid day. I went to both pre-ceremonies with an open mind, but I knew Aphrodite was the one for me. If Hermes offered me a bid I wouldn't take it. I suicide-d and chose Aphrodite. I haven't received a phone call and the ceremony is less than an hour away! SO, I am APHRODITE. Those who are interested Aphrodite is and makes me a..
