Chi Omega or Tri Delta...?

I am thinking about joining a sorority this fall at my college. I will be a sophomore, so I have done rush but then decided it wasn't the right time for me to join. Now, I would like to go through rush again and I am deciding between Chi Omega and Tri Delta in Wyoming. There were people from both sororities in my classes and I know some of them, but I know the people from Chi O better.

The only thing I'm mainy worried about is the initiation. There are strict rules against hazing but I'm curious as to if they do it anyways. I have not seen or heard anything too horrible, so maybe it's not as bad as I think. Also, does anyone know the reputations for both?

Thank you :)

IBTL.

I would definitely go with Delta Delta Delta because the Saturday Night Live skit about them was so funny!

I like Chi Omega a little better than Tri Delta but that's just my opinion.

DubaiSis 08-19-2010 02:32 PM

I don't like red and yellow as a color pairing, but then 3 triangles is too symmetrical.

But seriously, let me do you a favor. All NPC sororities have strict anti-hazing rules, and if they DID haze, you wouldn't be hearing about it here. Presume they follow the rules and if they don't, come back here and someone will give you the phone number to your national headquarters.

gee_ess 08-19-2010 02:35 PM

Do some searches on here and then get back to us with some other, more appropriate questions regarding rush.

Haha sorry should've figured that one out.

I can't believe you picked between one of the pirate groups, and the royal house from under the sea. You'd only make things more complicated if you were also interested in Delta Gamma and Sigma Sigma Sigma.

Let's make it easy, which colors look better on you? Cardinal & straw, or silver, blue and gold? Are you allergic to pine trees? I am, so I could never be a TriDelta. Do you speak dolphin or owl? Oh here's the truth though, you have to tell the Tootsie Owl how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop or you can't initiate into ChiO.

agzg 08-19-2010 02:38 PM

My pictures wouldn't work.

Do you like to eat mice or do you prefer fish? This is important.

It isn't red and yellow, it is cardinal and straw ;)

Go through recruitment, see if you get a bid to either. If you get one, it's an easy decision. If you get bids to both, decide where you feel most comfortable. If you're hazed, call the national/international headquarters.

I just got visuals of Richard Gere and...well, nevermind :o

KSUViolet06 08-19-2010 02:42 PM

Wait until you actually go through recruitment and see what happens.

Who knows, you may end up not liking either as much as you think you do.

Or they could both end up choosing not to invite you back.

The key to recruitment is keeping an open mind to all chapters, not just some.

Good luck to you!

My pink killarney rose will beat their cardinal and straw any day of the week.:p

The key to your answer is whether 2 or 3 letters look better on your chest.

aephi alum 08-19-2010 07:57 PM

Three letters are always better than two. Go Tri Delta!

Curses to you SNL writes. Curses.

jennyj87 08-21-2010 11:41 PM

Or you could morph them and make a fake sorority like my friend in Chi O and I did,

we call it Chi Delta.

Chi Omega or Tri Delta.... that's a tough one. The Tri Delta pin includes a handy weapon, so that's a plus, but the Chi Omega owl can make you look smart and in this case, that may be the trump card.

Apparently "mutal selection" is a sticking point... Really?

We pass out a form at pref night asking the PNMs if they can speak dolphin and if they can swim. We like to know this on the front hand because initiation is held under water, and you have to give a super secret password/handshake/synchronized swimming routine to the chapter dolphin before you can get into the ceremony.

BTW... I like that royal house from under the sea. I mean our patron is the king of the sea so it's only fitting :D.

pearlbubbles 09-02-2010 12:10 AM

^If you tell people that, they'll take synchronized swimming lessons in preparation for membership! Those PNMs would have a super unfair advantage, don't you think?

For every Tri Delt, every Tri Delt has a weapon for a pin
My trusty Trident My trusty Trident
It's much safer than a gun
Safe and silent my trusty Trident
With it no mans every won

I would think they'd have no more an advantage than the legacies, who, as we all know, develop gills as part of their legacy status.

AlphaFrog 09-02-2010 10:52 AM

I think she should just forget it all and pledge Delta Nu.

Their crest is a chiuaua...that trumps all, bitches.

AZTheta 09-02-2010 11:09 AM

You guys are blabbing secrets again. I'm writing this all down in the SuperSecretTattletaleBookofGCBlabbers. I'm gonna know everything in next to no time. Then I'll write a totally useless book and sell it to the lowest bidder.

FWIW I'm with AlphaFrog. Dogs rule.

If you get hazed, keep your damn mouth shut and take it like a woman.

gills don't become active until formal pledging. Those poor poor legacys that don't get in. :(

pearlbubbles 09-02-2010 03:13 PM

Agreed. :( Of course, their daughters at least inherit partial gills.

rollthedice 09-03-2010 10:19 PM

this thread made me laugh so hard.... you all are honestly hilarious.
